I assume you are talking the DVa, if so, it's not bad, but still no match for a Camel, IMHO. Never try to turn with him, he'll get you every time. About the only thing I think that may work is diving to the deck and a hard pull up. The best bet, bring friends.

Glad to see you made it. Maybe now us Huns will have a chance against those Krumpets!

I just did a barrel roll in the SE5 while flying level. It wasn't pretty, took forever and I lost a 100' or so of altitude as well as having the engine almost cut out while inverted. Can't comment about 1.26 yet, after a 3 hour download, it says the files are corrupt. I'll have to wait until next week and get someone at work to download to a CD. Dial up sucks.

Is there a way to display my task bar (the one on the bottom with the start button) during flying? I have a CPU temp display down there and I'd like to keep an eye on it during missions.
-
I'll have to try it, I have a twisty stick. I'm not sure why that would matter. I do know it's all but impossible to aileron roll an Albatros, the roll rate just isn't there. When I feel the need, I fire up FS9 and grab a Pitts!

FWIW, my kill reports show SE5's. Never heard of a RE5. Don't know much about Vista, I've been avoiding it, but BHaH should run fine. As long as the stick and pedals are USB (not the old gameport) pretty much anything current should work. I have a copy of RB (not sure which version) still unopened. I never got around to it, though in the day I didn't have a computer strong enough to run it. As I look back, I was busy with the real ones at Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome.

How to avoid certain mission types (German campaign)
Baywing replied to Geier's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
You can also take off on a mission, circle the field a bit, shift W until the TAC brings you back to home, land and you at least get credit. I'm not sure how (or even if it is possible) to decline missions, but this seems the better way. I'll use that technique when the weather is really bad, saves me from cloud-induced death. -
Biggest problem is that I'm always grossly outnumbered. By the time I turn and get a SPAD in my sights, I've got 2-3 more of them on my 6 perforating my ship. Last mission was a home airfield defense (they call it that, I call it a massacre) 6 DV's against 10-12 SPADs with them having altitude advantage. At least I can make it back to the ground.........

And the controls that do that are? You would think that micky-soft would have used similar control buttons in all their aviation sims, but no.....
-
Will do, thanks. Now, where did I put that order number....hmmm....

Flying for Jasta 21, I've had the Albatros D3 and now DV (early). They are both tough a/c, I've never had damage other than from lead. They don't turn as well as the N17 or SPAD7, don't climb as well and are generally out-classed. From what I've read in several books, though, it seems the Albatros should be more capable than the Allied planes. Could be I'm not a good pilot.....

Load CFS3 and fly a mission, you'll have to do that before loading OFF. Then, I would suggest you read every thread here! You might learn something, but if you don't, it should at least keep you busy for a while.
-
A shot in the dark, try turning off any virus programs and firewalls before loading CFS3 and OFF.
-
It's been a while since I loaded OFF2, but from memory, I recall a selection when loading OFF2 that gives you a CFS3 choice for disk or no disk. If you have the CFS3 DVD, you should not need the DVD installed to load/play P2. After installing CFS3, have you played one QC mission? You have to do that first, before loading OFF. My experience is for XP SP2, I know there were some special issues for Vista 32.

no biggee, I'm sure it will all get sorted in time. I'm actually surprized by how fast the entire OFF appearance happened in the first place and how fast it morphed into something better than most, if not all, of us could have imagined.

I was in the middle of a dogfight and the screen suddenly dumped to the briefing room. According to the time there, it was like I never started that mission. Nothing new on the machine other than joining and posting here......
-
Appreciate the replies. I did notice the fan on the new 9800GT was really wound up at the end of the mission, I'm hoping that it was the old (Sounds odd calling a 1 year old GPU old!) vid card was the culprit.

Well wadda ya know they do explode

Screenies are tough to get, it happens very fast when it does. -
As said, not necessarily. Look for the square on the tac to turn black, that means he's finished.
-
Considering how fast all this was put together, it's close to a miracle. Take your time, Fates, we're planning on bein' here awhile!
-
I've had a few sudden death shots. It usually takes more than a couple of bursts, but when the square on the TAC goes black, that means he's dead. The plane heads straight for the ground after that.

This place is looking better by the minute!!
-
It may very well be the vid card. If you remember, I couldn't get my DVI connection to work with OFF, every time I started up, same thing happened, it dumped to the Duty Page. I just got a new 9800GT 512Mb today (ordered yesterday, thanks Newegg!) and the last few flights have been fine, and I'm running the DVI cable with no issues now. The 8600GT may have been overworked (it never complained running FSX though). I also installed nVidia's latest drivers from 3/3/09, hopefully, that will take care of it. If I can only find a leftover AMD X2 6400+.....
-
I got a parked a/c last airfield attack mission, had the satisfaction of seeing it blow up, that's about all you'll get, other than hammered if you don't make a quick exit.

New areas to post and populate. :)

Starting to look real professional!!
