When in trouble ( this is survival of the fittest) I often head for the nearest friendly airbase when being chased by the enemy and land and let my foot soldiers take care of the problem. And it works if you land at an army base also. They really open up on the enemey as they continue and dive and try and strafe my plane as I sit on the ground. I also found that if have no friendlys around, you can land in an open field and hide among the trees. Does anyone else do this? I do when run out of ammo or am damaged.

Thanks for the "umpteenth" time, but it didn't work for me... Though I tried it once, want to do again. Going to be on a weeks of fishing and camping but will give it a try next week this time..again. Thanks for coming to our aid. someday, we'll get this figured out

Sorry to say, I have never gotten over the problem. I still get the message every time I load a flight in campaign. I have still some planes that I cannot fly and time periods when it seems to crash the flight. I found that specifically if the campaign mission calls for attack ground targets, it never works... But I am not interested in attacking a ground target with a "fighter" anyhow. I can't put it all together and cannot figure it out. After 3 total new installs I am no better off that I was. I can tell you like Uncleal has said in the past, "if it aint broke, don't fix it". I tried to do a reinstall in order to fly MP flights and from then on it has been a problem. Somehow I work around it but don't really have any advice.

Yes, I think much of the movie was made in Minnesota. We are always made fun of because our accent is supposed to be "different" but we really don't talk like that. You betcha by golly. I recently turned 60 (ouch) but the generations of my grandparents spoke a lot of Swedish, German ( my grandmother was an interpreter during WW2 at a POW camp) or whatever language had been passed on to them. In fact that generation often did not learn the English language (in rural areas of Minnesota, and I am sure most rural areas of the USA) until they were often near the age of about 10 or 12. Unfortunately, very few Americans speak a second language in contrast to Europeans who speak sometimes 2 and 3 or more languages.

My ancestors came from Germany (in the early 1880's) after my Great Great Grandfather fought in either his 2nd or 3 war. I know he was in the war of 1864? and believe it was against Denmark, and possibly other countries. My apologies if I have that wrong, I have a great photo of him but don't have a scanner. It shows him in his uniform and smoking a cigar with three or four medals on his uniform. And he is very MEAN looking. Other ancestors came from Denmark and Sweden. For about 3 years I researched those family roots back to the mid 1600's and found where all had come from, where they attended church, and were baptized, married and buried. In 1991 I took a trip to those two countries and had the most wonderful time of my life seeing where they lived, farmed, and fished. I met some relatives and still remain in contact with some of them. In one case my great grandfather changed his name from Johansson to Berlin because there were so many Johanssons' in the USA and having first lived in Chicago, their mail was constantly getting mixed up. How they came up with the name of Berlin, no one ever knew. Always when I fly for Germany, I used the names of my ancestors, such as Hermann Duesterhoeft, August Seefeld, Wilhelm Borkenhagen and others. I only wish I could give them a little more honor as it seems I cannot make it past about 6 hours with them

Minnesota, but with time spent in the military and spending some winters in Texas, I will call that my 2nd state of residence. Rickitycrate said it correctly, we may have the most members in the US of A.

Minnesota is the great are of fishing and camping. You are welcome up my way. I live for camping and fishing, will be at it next week, then again in late July and once again in mid August. SittingDuck, Remember we thought the reason I can't log on to a MP flight might be my poor ping rate? Regardless of that , I still have the occasional exploding aircraft. And I can't fly certain ones (they are not available, such as the Tripe (I have the Tripe with Twin Vickers) and also the F2b . I think that is what it is called, a 2 place plane anyhow. I used to be able to fly them all. So I follow your instructions to delete the uisel.xml file and I don't have one. Does ANYBODY know why? I thought it might help my problem. I have followed the FAQ and Uncleals advice to search and delete files. Now I find my computer won't allow me to do a search for files. I had a virus about a year ago which knocked out a few different things such as my power point program, microsoft word and etc. So I can't do the search to do the full clean. Just thought I would pass this along, if anyone has any idea that comes to mind. I can still fly most aircraft, so I can get some enjoyment from OFF but some obstacles

I have had OFF for a number of months and haven't had any problem-until. I recently did a complete re install as I have been trying to fly mulitplayer and thought this might fix my problem in trying to connect with other players. But now my problem and this is way more serious: When flying campaign (I haven't tried QC as I don't fly that much) I get a error message when trying to get to my flight that says, "Populate airfield facility. Aircraft set up error." I click the ok and it tries to load the flight. Then I get a message that says , "mission failied". So in order to continue with anything I click on this and it takes me to my aircraft on an airfield. I hear an explosion and all of a sudden my sopwith tripe is in flames and burns. There I sit. Its over. This is really something as I mentioned, I have flown hundreds of missions in campaign mode and now with the re install this happens. In reading the forum I had remembered someone had this problem. I did a search on exploding plane and erro message and etc and cannot find what your remedy was. Now I really need some help. I did the speed test on the laptop and the ping rate was about the same. 270 if I remember, which was the same as the desktop. For the download and upload speed I lost the notes that I wrote the info on. Now the computer is out of the house for a couple of weeks as one of the "children" had use of it. Thats all I have for now. I tried one time to get on the game and believe it was this morning. Perhaps it was about 0900. In mean time I uninstalled, deleted files and reinstalled. Haven't been able to give it a try and as of now will be gone most of the two days

Sittingduck said it correctly, "I am not into the game yet". I have not had any problems in the campaign mode recently....but it had happened early on after my second re-install. And I took your advice about the hidden files. but when you have hundreds of thousands of files, can they find them all? Either the search missed them or I did. I did the regedit thing or whatever it is called, followed the FAW to the letter. But as far as Multiplayer, I enjoy many hours each week flying on line in FSX (that shouldn't be a dirty word around here) and I know I would enjoy it in OFF. I enjoy the interaction with people as long as they are mature.

As Duck mentioned, I get the same error message. Had it ever since my "1st" re install which was done so I could see if that would help my MP as I had never been able to get on line. THen I did another complete uninstall and went thru and deleted all files according to different instructions. I am thnking I have missed a "hidden" files but thought I had done it by the book as in according to the FAQ. I had a chance to fly a couple of missions in campaign mode this morning and I still get the message. Plus I cannot find the aircraft (fighter used by Brits) I think it is the F2B ?? It is the one with the gunner behind the pilot, not the earlier F2Eb is it? Was wondering if you have all your planes? I have to be gone most of the afternoon so if you have anything we can compare, I 'll check back with you later. Ras

I would be for having any kind of a schedule, and know that the times and everything can be varied so that they can be joined by as many as possible. For me, its just a matter of finding the right time and one day is (luckily for me) totally different than another with part time work, fishing, grandkids and etc. I often don't know anything in advance. The talk of a dedicated server (if it can happen in the future) would be another welcome addition. I still look to the first chance I can and see if I can get connected. The last 3 days for example were filled with visitors (relatives) and I couldn't check email much less get in the air. You fellows are doing a fine job setting this up and I wanted to say thanks .

Ax, I would be there to give it a try, but the weekend is full with out of town visitors. Plus, I still don't know if I am going to get online.. Will give it a try the first time I see a game up that I am free. I'm still here. Ras
