Regional Air Activity & Bombers
Creaghorn replied to Ryan H's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
wingmen DO attack two seaters, but not as aggressively as they attack scouts. it's rather realistic how the wingmen behave, by stalking the twoseaters and then attacking, then after a while and turn away again and getting ready for a second pass. this is how behave wingmen who want to have a kill, and also want to survive and how a real pilot would behave. if additionally the twoseaters would be more evasive (or having the HiTR AI) or if the would start to circle and protect each others back, as it was in real, then it would also be tough to get one down and survive. you also must not forget that it's easier for you to hit them from the distance because you see those ecffects of hitting them from far away. in real they didn't have a clou if they hit them or not to the moment the hostile aircraft began to smoke or fell apart ect. so they had to get really close. so yes, the twoseaters could be more evasive, maybe even every now and then be aggressive. and no, the wingmen behave like you would expect them to behave if it was in real. -

since my name is not "Q" or "Scottie", somebody else is better going to do this . my friend who recommended me the other site, does work about the same job as you two do and he said he'll do it. is it complicated then to use this fan or should i rather take a 140 fan cooler in the first place? -

ok. so this is the compilation i made before i got routed to the other site. is there anything among it which you wouldn't recommend? i think that's exactly the same RAM as parky has. enough coolers or missing anything? plan is to complete this stuff with my old gtx260, old, two SATA HD's, old drives and hub and old 750w power supply etc. replace the haf922 with the haf932, which i would rather choose now. -

great info parky, thank you . i have compiled everything you all suggested and i'm ready to buy. but before i push the button, please take a look at this other variant. a company, recommended by a friend, who build the rig for you with the parts you want. also there is 2 year warranty, not from producer, but of this company, which makes things easier if something goes wrong. all other parts not included, i'll take from my own rig. so please give your opinions. -

awesome help here. thank you all guys . so let's say i'm no millionaire. and let's say i want to build something i can keep for the next 3-4 years, besides upgrading the gpu next year or so. also i would like to have a rig where i can fly bhah with all sliders up and high density, and to still have high fps. also it should be p4 ready, wich is obviously going to be more recource eating than p3. so from that what i have read here i might take a i7-930 (still need advice what motherboard though) a Corsair Hydro Series H50 So.775/1156/1366 cooler how about that ddr3 ram kit? 6144MB G.Skill PC3-10666 CL7 Triple Kit. if not those, wich one would you recommend? and a new nice and big case with coolers. i think that would be it for the beginning. did i forget something? i think my gtx 260 will do it for one more year or so. also the two sata drives i already have. in a year or two some new and more cheap ssd will do it. @von paulus i have a retail version of win 7, and if i understood you correctly i can use it again for the new rig, can't i? -

thank you all. so probably it would be a good idea to first buy a bigger case with apropriate coolers etc. then a good motherboard and CPU which is clockable and which i can upgrade after some time. from my current rig i could use the gtx260 and the power supply and drives and RAM etc. and then i might upgrade those things from time to time. so i don't need to build a new rig from scratch but only what's badly necessary and use the, so far, good enough parts from my old rig. what do you think? -
Killed flight members stay alive?
Creaghorn replied to vonOben's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
exactly. a correct tracking of the insim outcome would only make sense if the devs find a way for the dogfights to last about 3 minutes and with lot more running away etc. as long as it isn't like that, it's better to have it like it is now. -

that's sorry to hear. thank you for looking though. so i'll have to look for new cpu and also new motherboard. or try to OC. never did that but i think there are enough tutorials out there so i might give it a try. -

yes. it's a HP and exactly what you did suspect. Asus M2N68-LA (Narra3) thank you for looking, von paulus. i'm just too inexperienced with stuff like this and the danger i could buy something senseless is too big. so i appreciate any help -
yes and yes . you'll always survive. but you should only use it when flying for germany from march/april 1918 on. and then roll the dice. e.G. when havin 1-4, you live, 5-6, you die.

in the campaign in historical weather mode every day and period is as it was in real, based on real data of the time. so snow appears, and melts away sometimes, or keeps bitterly cold for months (winter 1916/17 for example). so what you see during the campaign is how it was in real.
-
good ideas 5. would be great. additionally having brakes (no real brakes of course but like having those sockets) where you can fire up your engine to get it warmed up without rolling forward. 6. at least for german spandaus. but i don't think that's possible because currently even the prop doesn't get slower when stalling. i think it's coded unfortunately. 8. parachutes are in there. just hit 3 x O. but it's not historical accurate, only for germans from spring 1918 on it would be. then after bailing out throwing a dice, where 1/3 of the times it doesn't open.

another thing which fells into my mind is the claimform. one should always be able to claim something. wether he had a kill or not. if the claimform only appears when having a kill, then there is no reason to get it denied, because the appearence of the claimform itself is already a confirmation. also one shouldn't be forced to write in witnesses. only the circumstances ( maybe with historical sheets?). the witnesses who saw it (fellow pilots, ground units, soldiers, observers etc.) should be mentioned automatically at the confirmation, (not in the claimform, e.G. your claim on date was witnessed by ground units or by pilot xy and therefore we confirm it blah). if it's denied, then because of no witnesses or because witnesses have seen something else. mostly it wasn't ones job to find witnesses. the witnesses were there and have raised their hand, or there was a phonering hours later where somebody of another weapon has confirmed it. just one more idea
-
thank you. i think comments are not required. it's more of a compilation of ideas wich are maybe not too unrealistic to implement and for letting you know as some ideas. maybe for campaigns, to make the active pilot more precious, a new pilot has to make some trainingmissions (strafing runs, bombdropping etc., landing with engine switched off etc.) first to earn his "wings" and then he gets transferred. every nation should be able to drive a car or go by bicycle. maybe even in a campaign to visit a crashsite. that would be cool. every AC should be able to carry flares, as it was in real. maybe also making AI giving signals.

OFF Player Made Video Sticky Request
Creaghorn replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
i've never made a video, but love to watch them. so why not. i love to watch videos and observe things like, how often is one checking his six, is he fighting for kills or for survival etc, how are the settings in the vids for me to get jaleous... . especially the great vids like the vids of jammer or the release vids etc. i love to watch them. so a sticky would be fine and replace it with something unnecessary -
sounds tough. hope you get well soon, old chap

i think that's sooner or later the goal the devs are going to achieve. to have about the same mission management as in rb3d, which was IMO the best. different missions for squadmembers (one group goes for patrol, another goes balloon hunting etc.) where you could even meet the other group coincidentally in the air if the time and area crosses. if you are the leader you could choose and shuffle the groups together, if too many AC get shot down some of the pilots had to wait some days till the new AC arrive. all those little things which makes a campaign so immersive.

wow hellshade, your scenerie is looking awesome. seems to be very high and still so fluid and free of stutters. may i ask at what sliders you fly with?
