i don't have current pictures of my german home right now, will post when i make some, but here are some i uploaded some years ago from the place in croatia where i'm originally from, with some pics of the old small house where my grandparents and my father grew up. now it's abandoned because my parents built a bigger house years ago, but still in our ownership on the island of krk, so occasionally i still go there to visit the roots when going back to croatia. for me it's kind of feeling when seeing the old house of my ancestors, probably like michael corleone when he visited for first time the small town corleone ;-) http://combatace.com/gallery/album/354-croatia/

File Name: Sound Tweak II. 100% improvement File Submitter: Creaghorn File Submitted: 24 Feb 2010 File Category: Modding Tools and Add-on Software Here is soundtweak II. for more realism. contents are new sounds for AI flown aircraft with original engines of the apropriate planes and doppler-effect. right now only a few AI engine sounds are standing for many different aircraft. now you are going to hear the right engine for the right type with doppler effects. there are now 7 different AI-engines for each type, wich are randomly generated in a formation. so you'll hear the same aicrafts and same engine types around you, but in 7 different patterns, so the strange sound when all engines are synchronized is definitely gone!!! every aircraft sounds now differently!!! now you'll feel like really beeing there. i also softened a little bit AI engines, because feedback said it was a bit too loud. furthermore i tweaked the soundfile to have the effect that when an aicraft gets closer you'll hear it louder and vice versa. currently it's wether on or off, as before. also you'll hear now flak bursts the louder the nearer it is, and softer the further away it is. additionally i tweaked the air explosion files (when an aicraft is burning and exloding). the explosion itself is the very same. now you'll have additionally some broken engine, overrides etc. very immersive. additionally the frontambience is now also dependent of distance. the closer and lower you come to the frontlines, the louder it gets!!! contents are: 7 patterns of Inline-scouts (albatros etc.) Inline-twoseaters 7patterns of Sopwith camels 7 patterns of other Sopwith engines, besides the camel (pup, tripe, strutter etc.) 7 patterns for Nieuport versions 7 patterns of flying Spads 7 patterns of Se5's 7 patterns of Fokker rotaries sound-effect file drop into C:\Programme\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields wav-files drop into C:\Programme\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\sounds the engine files won't replace anything, the explosionfiles will replace it, so please back up first the original ones. same goes for the sound-effect file. please save the original before replacing. there's no need for the first version. this version now includes everything as before, but much improved. as a suggestion, my sound sliders are set engine (own engine) 80 effects(AI-engines, explosions, guns etc.) 100 Cockpit (own guns etc.) 70 all original content belongs to OBD software have fun. at least northern france and belgium is usually rather dull. the further south you go, the more mediterranean it gets, and southern france of course is a completely different ballgame. there is some comedy movie from couple years ago where a southern french postman gets transfered to northern france, and before he gets there he hears a lot of horrorstories about the weather and the people there. always cold and dull, the people described a bit like hillbillies with strange dialects and traditions etc. was very fun to watch. -

this new beta driver works a lot smoother for me than the previous. in both the graphics are looking very crisp without any shimmering etc.. with the previous one it was smooth, but with occasional hickups, espeically at places with many objects on the ground. with this new one the occasional hickups are gone completely. even when freshly entering the theatre on the airfield there are no hickups anymore. slightly shimmering when on the ground, but from no shimmering at all to a little bit there is no big difference. for me this new driver works better. AA is set to 32 with 8 sparsegrid supersampling. all smooth and crisp . thank you hellshade. -

i thought about tweaking around with this settings, too, but what IMO get's lost is the perfectly caught look of middle europe. the settings as they are, especially in dull weather and with the fog etc. is pretty close to how it looks in real. not any random looking countryside which pretends to be over flanders fields because the game tells it to you. when you look at it without knowing where it is, you could easily say, ok, that looks like somewhere in middleeurope. with the setting tweaked it may look a bit more colourful, but IMO i get's more mediterranean or caribean touch. especially the skies. -
couple weeks ago i bought a new GTX 580 (thank you all for your recommendations). after building it in and tweaking around, on one night suddenly the PSU made several bangs with smoke and sparks etc. i made couple years ago the typical rookie-mistake by buying a cheap noname 750w PSU. this cheap PSU obviously did not have any sort of security things to prevent damage to other components. so i bought a new (and good) PSU. after this i found out that the motherboard was gone. ok. new motherboard built in. then i found out that also the memory was gone. so i got new memory sticks. after having all components again, which took several nervewrecking weeks (while waiting not knowing which other components are broken, if all data is lost etc.), i was finally able to bring my system back to life. fortunately the harddisks didn't suffer and the previous OS works as before. all well now again. and the moral of it is to never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never try to save money by buying a cheap, chinese crap PSU. sooner or later you will regret it as i did.

my old PSU had also 750w. usually if it's not enough it should go off instead of exploding. and even if it explodes there have to be some sort of securitystuff to prevent the current to break other parts. one bang, a little bit luck, that's it. but my PSU made about 4 bangs. anyway. of course sonner or later every PSU breaks, even those with good names, but they shouldn't pull all other parts into the grave also...

it's about time for an upgrade and replace the old gtx 260, which is currently the bottleneck of my system. i have a QuadCore Intel Core i7 930, 2933 MHz (22 x 133) Asus P6X58D Premium (2 PCI, 1 PCI-E x1, 3 PCI-E x16, 6 DDR3 DIMM, Audio, Dual Gigabit LAN, IEEE-1394) 6135 MB (DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM) 750w power supply big tower HAF 932 Advanced there are several gtx 580 versions out there, but the prices vary a lot. from about 400 to about 750€. different manufacturers, different specs of which i don't have too much knowledge. so question for the experts (e.g. parky and von paulus). which gtx 580 to take, and therefore having enough muscles for the next couple years? probably best with 3072mb, and maybe already overclocked, since i'm no clockingdude and rather would like to avoid clocking around. which one is the best at the moment (i don't mean 590 or double 580 etc.) performancewise and moneywise? from saving some time for the upgrade and some subventionale birthday present i would say the budged would go to about 750€. i would appreciate any good suggestions. cheers creaghorn

@olham i appreciate your help and suggestion. but i want to upgrade it significantly and keep it for the next couple years that way. if i upgrade it just a "little bit", then i will be in one or two years at the same stage as now. same way as i did with the gtx 260 while there have been gtx 295 etc. on the market. it's ok, it's cool, but after a year or two you see the limits very well. also, since my gpu is my bottleneck, i would like to upgrade it. it's of course not only for OFF, it's also for a ton of other things too, not necessarily just for games etc. how about that one? http://www.kmcomputer.de/item/0/0/0/115538/index.html maybe better to wait couple more months? maybe the prices will drop anyway.

set the main guns and rear guns to "less accurate". that's giving the best results because the bullets are spraying a bit more. at normal or accurate the bullets will come more laserbeamlike and therefore damage you more quickly. -
that shall be the last major upgrade for the next couple decades, so i will rather grab the chance as long as i have one . after that, if i ever mention to my wive something regarding an upgrade, she will run me out of the house with a pumpgun

that's the point of the tracermod, to eliminate also the feedback. in ww1 there was no feedback when small bullets were piercing canvas or wood. they produced just smallish holes until something important got hit. that's what this mod emulates. also regarding quick kills. you can have quick kills as long as you hit meat or metal. all other spots need many hits to make something happen. for instance albert ball returned form his sorties many times with 30+ bulletholes. some pilots even had dozen of bulletholes and never realized it until checking the AC after landing. there is a reason why the highest scoring ace had 80 victories and not 800. in ww2 of course that was a completely different ballgame. -
if it's made from the same material as my wallet, then it doesn't matter. mine is made from onion-leather. always have to cry when i look inside...

that has nothing to do with censorship to report a prohibited nazi-song. it's not like somebody has an open opinion and somebody is trying to ban him or something. it's not dictatorship either to report such crap. if that is for you dictatorship, then you don't have a clou what really dictatorship is. you can't simply throw reporting racist nazi songs into the same pot like communist china or whatever. maybe he won't watch and listen to it, but maybe other, influencable people will. it is right to grab things like that at the roots and put it away. and it's also right to not look to the other direction if things like that appear. happened often enough in the past. why he had posted it here? because he considers many people here as friends. and friends talk about stuff like that. maybe the pub would be more apropriate. but gathering support for his ideals? what ideals do you mean? -

would be a good idea of those who watch the movie regularly to also leave some comments on youtube, and maybe also to post a link to the forum and the main site of OFF. if i search around on youtube and find this vid by chance, i would be more interested if i see many good comments and infos where to get it etc. if you know what i mean. -
actually all your questions are more or less answered in the first p4 vid. you can watch it here: http://overflandersfields.com/info.htm p3 already has one of the best AI around. really breathtaking dogfights, with mates really helping you out when in trouble. they can't look through clouds and also don't snipe around from miles but really try hard to get close on your six. and they are damn scary good doing this. you don't have the feeling that you are the center of the world while all others are just here for your pleasure. no spawning and such things but all AI are underway to do their own missions and tasks. wether you are there or not. they don't spawn just to be there because you are there, but you can fly in any direction you want and coincidentally you will run into friends and enemies, doing their jobs, or you won't see anybody. just as in real life. p4 is going to take the even great AI to another level, probably never seen before in any sim so far. p3 already has a great campaign. OFF itself is all about single player campaign in the first place. p4 is also raising this to another level. actually the good single player campaign is the heart and the soul of OFF. about visuals. you have the feeling of beeing there. you will feel very small and unimportant while you are flying over nomandsland and the villages etc. that's no lifeless teletubbie land but actually france and belgium you will see. and it really looks like france and belgium. if you've ever been to middle europe, you will recognize the landscape immediately. please forget the CFS3 engine. it's only necessary for some core data. that's like having win7 and while booting, there is some dos window visible for two seconds. nonetheless it's win7 and not the old dos, if you understand what i'm trying to say. please watch the vid completely. as i said, it answers already many of your questions. cheers creaghorn

i doubt that the problem is related to the soundmods, because there is not the slightest connection to any FM,DM, mission files etc. but i would suggest to not activate the soundmod via JSGME utility but how it's explained in the readme file, because it was not intended to be used with the JSGME utility, so no guarantees if it would work with it or not.
