To me it seems the ratio is skewed against you. My ration is about 80% confirmed. I fill out my claim sheets with this info. 1. Write down all of your flight members names before flight. 2. When you fill out the witness box put all of your flight members names in there. DO NOT use Ranks!!, semi colons or any other fancy type stuff just plain old commas. 3. Make sure you know the plane type you shot down, at least use single seater if it was a fighter, but it is best to know type. 4. I always always mark down the time using a 24 hr clock that the plane was shot down or seen to crash, and the location ie. SW 3 miles from Bumville airfield if on friendly side of the line if over the line I give my best WAG as to where it was using the map width to figure mileage. I also give a brief description of what went on in the engagement. That' s how I do it and most of my kills get confirmed, hope it helps.

I have the same issue when it comes to bombing missions, airfield attacks, rail yard attacks. It seems the stuffed shirts are to bloody chicken to lead such missions and leave the pee-ons to do the dirty work. Welcome to life in the military LOL. I don't think there is away around that but maybe some of the guys know how to change things like that. All I do if I really hate the mission is advance time and hope the next one is better.

Summer here is being way hotter than I care for. Seeing as I am still sitting on my butt recuperating from surgery. For the past 2 and 1/2 weeks the temp. hasn't dropped below 30C and has been up to 39C. With the humidity factored in it was 45-47C all of last week. It's to bloody hot to go outside for a smoke. It's human nature to complain about the weather I suppose. But I still think I'll take the heat as apposed to the -30 and -40 days we get in the winter months. And yes we will complain about that as well LOL.

Oh you will go through new pilots, you'll get mad and frustrated and create still more, and then come to love this sim as most of us do. It has happened to all of us and still does to a point. As for the Noops the 17 with the Lewis is my favorite ride in this sim. From the time it is available, with it you can dictate the terms of the fight if you choose to accept, and if not you can run away faster than the kraut barges. That is until the AlbD3 comes into service, but even there the only advantage they have is speed. Consider the Noop the same as the Zero in WW2 and fly it using the same principals and tactics. Welcome to the meat grinder ( insert evil laugh here).

As far as I know you can only view friendlies if they are still a bogie ( white dot in the TAC).
-
As Olham says select ( tab default key) the enemy aircraft on the TAC, or any aircraft as long as it is still marked as a bogie. Hit F4 to cycle the views. That should all be default keys. Hope thats what you were looking for.

Attacking airfields mission question
TSmoke replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I always let my one eyed and stupid wingmen attack the airfield first, and if rockets are available I try to hit what is left. I never attack airfields or train yards with guns and I never go below 2500'. If I fly the German crates I always advance time and get a new mission. -

Not to be rude but I have a question for Olham. In your post you said "I loved to have tea and scones with clotted cream and raspberry jam." What in the heck is clotted cream? Also find a few recipes for Scones, they are oh so simple to make. If you can boil water to make tea you can bake scones. It is however a bit of a process to make fresh jam. -

Not being a big fan of mods and not here to criticize. I have installed the damage mod and have to say that I do like it. It has helped getting the kill count per mission down about 25- 30% for me. Instead of downing 3,4,or5 planes per mission it is down to 2 to 3 max and the odd time 1 if my wing-men are not one eyed retards. There was a bonus offered to me with the mod, my hit percentage has gone up from an average of 36-38% to an average over 10 missions using the mod to 44%. So it does seem to force you to shoot more accurately and have more patience doing so. -
P4 - most desirable improvements
TSmoke replied to 33LIMA's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
It is good to hear that the AI issue is being looked at. Personally it doesn't bother me to much and the AI is fairly dumb and is easily beaten even with their huge advantage. My only wish is small but probably a pain in the butt . A working mirror on the Noops would be nice. Also a question, seeing as how the SE5's have a Lewis and a Vickers gun are they selectable or are both guns always fired at the same time. Never have made it in a campaign far enough to get one. I always start with a very early date. Also regarding the Lewis and Vickers guns. Why does it feel that the Lewis hits so much harder that the Vickers? Is it due to the synchronization of the Vickers thus it would have a lower rate of fire? Love the sim and all the effort that OBD has put into it from the very beginning, nothing like taking a sow's ear and turning it into a silk purse. Thanks for all your efforts. -
Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be a cheese ball movie. Having had horses all of my life and preferring their company to most humans that I know, I really hope it is well made and without the cheese. There is a quote from an old MASH episode that is so true for me " There are 3 things that make a movie great, horses, cowboys, and horses. "

Your essay as you call it was simple and easy to understand, and all here can attest that I am pretty damned dumb when it comes to anything computer LOL. I like that "zoomed out" setting because much closer makes me feel claustrophobic if that makes sense. The only issue I found with it is going through clouds you have to zoom in one step to get rid of that god awful white rectangle. Sure wish the developer gurus could fix that, unless the FOV setting isn't to be messed with? But overall its a minor PITA. I tried the Camel and it makes me feel claustrophobic at these settings or it maybe because that top wing is so bloody wide? I found the view up or down on the Camel pretty much sucks, also it was supposed to be a twitchy plane to fly, in the game it is as docile as the Pup??? Crap lost my train of thought here, oh well seems the trains have become shorter the past while LOL.

I downloaded Olhams detailed explanation and examples of field of view settings and played around with them some. I personally like the zoomed out look and set it into workshops. My monitor is 22" and set to 1680 x 1050 and I set my field of view to 27 over 17. It is zoomed out probably more than most people would like, however I find my ability to follow an aircraft is better and my collisions are down as well. Hasn't hurt shooting percentages at all in the tripe and camel it averages 40 - 42% per mission.

Thanks for all the info on the paint jobs. As to stalling not even close had so much speed from a dive never got a shot off, just half looped and rolled out. Once I get some height on the D3's and D5's I try like a SOB not to give it up, because in a shallow climb the ai planes walk away pretty easy. I don't know the airfields name but it is one of the 3 close together on the French coast, currently flying RNAS 1 late summer. -

Our flight of four we attacked by 6 Albatros and all had very colourful paint jobs. This is the only pic that I managed to get. -
unlimited demo for Rise of Flight now available.
TSmoke replied to Dagger's topic in WWI Flight Sim Discussion
Well I downloaded the new demo 10 times before I got a download that wasn't corrupt. Downloaded 4 times from a torrent, the remainder from the ROF forums link. Have been trying it exclusively for the past week. The control mapping process is long and senseless. Why not just have a config.ini. like in 1946?? Much easier and faster. Likes---- The trees, water, aircraft detail. Force Feed Back works like it's supposed to. Game runs smooth as silk at max settings. Dislikes---- The scenery is very sterile looking just plain Jane. The clouds look just like IL2 jobs which are horrible. Multi-player. ROF forums policed by the NKVD, any complaints about the game get your posts locked, deleted, or your a$$ sent on a vacation. Unsure ----- The flight models of the SPAD13 and the D5a leave something to be desired. Overall it's OK but I am not in a big hurry to buy this one. Just my 2 cents. -
So far I would say it has been a very even split between German and British. Have flown some French but not a lot. Now if the Germans had the 17b it would be all German. The Nieuport has been my favorite plane thus far. Never live long enough to try the Camel, SE5, ect. Maybe I'll just create a new pilot to continue the campaign from date the pilot dies.

Right now I have the idea situation when it comes to wives or significant others bitching about flight time and or game play. She works nights WHoooooo Hoooooooooooooo!!!! After being married for 31 years it is a slice of heaven. I generally try to get in an hour or two an evening. More likely more seeing as how hockey playoffs just finished. -

I really like the guy in the first video, straight forward to the point. The banks, governments, large corporations, ect., have been shearing the sheep far to often since the early eighties, and it has become a standard practice that is going to be damn hard to change. It has always been the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. Short of public rebellion nothing is going to change. Just my view on how I'm getting screwed. -

If there is a Pacific theater this is one that I will be picking up. Eastern front and Western front have been done to death. Its odd but my favorite plane from the Pacific theater is the old Devastator. -
Gave up on 1946 about a year ago. Started with the original IL2 and have 2 copies of each addition including 1946. Some of the mods are fine, but until a decent campaign is made for it I'll continue to let it gather dust on my shelf. I dislike the multi-player aspect personally. There are so many things that need tweaking that it maybe years down for me to install it again . At least it isn't the disaster that CLOD is and will continue to be for at least the near future. Just my opinion.

While sitting home from work recovering from shoulder surgery, I got bored. Was messing with the settings in the Nvidia Control Panel. Was just trying to get a nicer looking sim. Well my settings in workshops are aircraft 5, Terrain 4, Scenery 3, Effects 5, Clouds 5. Card is a GTX460 1mb. Everything looks sweet except for one thing. I don't know what I changed in the control panel to cause this. When I hit an enemy A/C and they take damage that shows graphically, or I take damage that shows graphically the plane mine, or targets turns totally black ( see attached picture). This didn't happen until I messed with the Nvidia control panel. I know if it ain't broke don't fix it. But boredom is driving me nuts. Any suggestions to cure above problem, short of shooting the messenger LOL. Thanks in advance.
-
Anyways thanks for the suggestions. Looks like uncleal is the winner. Point me in the right direction plus kick me in the ass for messing with stuff. Kinda like that once in awhile LOL. Not bored any longer either LOL. With all the experimentation with one setting at a time, the game looks better and I got a bonus of an extra 10 FPS out of the deal. Thanks all.

I remember reading in a book years ago about some comment made by a combat pilot, If you think you are close enough to shoot get closer. It's not verbatim but you get the idea. The closer the better.
