  1. I guess that is typical British understatement, old boy. Yes - "Soul Place" - I know what you mean, Widow. You will recognise one, when you see it. And I can recognise yours even only from a photo. Touching and cute - it is also obvious from just a photo, that Sophie loves the place too. Great story! Creaghorn, I remember those pics. They reminded me, that it might be time for us Europeans, to become a bit more modest again. (But I guess, future economics will do that for us. Force us, I mean). Root pics - great stuff! Thanks for the snow, Hasse Wind. I wasn't really missing it yet - spring is my favourite time of year - but I like your northern winter landscapes.
  2. If you are into immersive and dense campaign stuff, you will not regret it, Alexander. You should think about downloading the "Hat in the Ring!"-Add-on too; you get a much improved AI, new planes etc. It is now much reduced - see here: http://overflandersfields.com/info.htm Please report, when you got started - I'll add you to our OFF Pilots Maps then.
  3. "Mmuahahahahahahaaaa!!!!! Us Dsherrmans hav a Goat - der Goat can find hiss own food anywhere. He sumptimez eatz der hair off der Mechaniks' headz - vee don't even need a hair cutter zatt way. Mmuahahahahahahaaaaa!!!!!!"
  4. I tried it al possible ways, Lothar - none of them worked; no ace skins. But for me it doesn't matter that much; I put JSGME where it was before, and use HPW's previous new versions.
  5. Hasse Wind helped me out with the previous HPW mods. With those, I can leave everything as it was.
  6. Which squadron is the cat flying for? Or is he the CO?
  7. Well, how many JSGME can you have in one sim???? Cause: Elephant's tracer mods are made for JSGME in the folder "CFSWW1 Over Flanders fields". This is getting terribly confusing!
  8. Thanks, Cody - I bet with sun it would be great for barbeqeues! Guys, if your avatar doesn't tell: could you all please add, where your place is more or less?
  9. Damn, now I'm totally confused. I always had seen some glow in the tracers before. Now with my change of directory, I do not see any tracer glow anymore.
  10. Herr Prop-Wasche, I have now installed the JSGME in the main "OBD Software" folder, as Lothar suggested, but I don't get any ace skins, even after leaving the flight, and then pressing "Fly same mission again" - no ace skins. Another observation I made: the turn fighters I met with my Albatros D.II are now even more advantaged. They have already before always been able to curve in behind the Albs and slowly shoot them up; cause the Albs don't do enough energy fighting. But now even the DH-2 does that. Could it be, that the OBD devs had "misbalanced" some FM things on some fighters, to balance that a bit?
  11. Wow - you lucky man!
  12. Oh, wow - coming from the sea myself, I'd love to have a view on the water. Evenfrom far away. I bet, with westwind, you can smell the salt and iodine?
  13. After all the time I have finally made a video of a dogfight, in which I use Matt Milne's wonderful music. (He had allowed that for OFF videos some time ago). The video shows an attack of two groups of Nieuport 17 on our flight of Albatros D.II from Jasta 14. At least 2 of the French came right out of the sun, and I was very proud, that I had discovered them without any Labels or TAC on. After the first minutes, my wingman and I find us alone with at least 3 Nupes. The video shows some of our fine teamwork (I use the wingman commands a lot). Enjoy it!
  14. Since Lothar has explained it yesterday, I have now installed JSGME into the main "OBD Software" folder. Getting into our first fight, I realised immediately, that I had no glowing tracers. Since a long time I thought I used Creaghorn+Elephant's tracer mod. No, I hadn't! Only now I do! So maybe the Blechley campaigns also never really worked for me? Damn, the shame... But now I'm really gonna experience all this stuff.
  15. They started with only 6 kills, if I remember Immelmann's PLM right. Later, you had to make 15 or 16; and then, from some time in 1917 on you had to make 20.
  16. Hey, that really looks like "my home is my castle". Wonderful, your stone works! As for the bluetits - the nest may later rott and make it unattractive for another year? Perpaps it would be good, if you could still have access and remove old dirt? Just an idea. Could that be Pippin's bum behind the blue barrel?
  17. According to WIKIPEDIA, the "Pour-le-Mérite" ("For the Merit") was named "Blue Max" by the flyers because of it's colour, and to honour one of the first aviators who received it - Max Immelmann. The Members of the Order of Merit were eligible for special military honours. So they had always to be saluted first - even by those of higher ranks. Guards had to salute the member "standing by their guns", which was otherwise only reserved for their direct commanders, and persona from ruling houses. The "Pour-le-Mérite" could also be awarded to foreign officers. The Order still exists as the "Pour-le-Mérite for Science and Arts". http://www.orden-pourlemerite.de/ .
  18. Opening the windows of my sleeping room, which is also my OFF Base/Headquarter, I just thought how peaceful my place really is. In spring and summer, "my" backyard is an isle of flourishing green, which contrasts nicely with the cream walls. In autumn, it all turns into yellow, orange, rusty-red and burgundy colours, and it feels like a little "Backyard Paradise" to me, when I return from the noisy city. While my living room shows to the little street, my sleeping room is perfectly quiet. Of course it is not "my" backyard - it belongs to the many birds, which are sometimes chanting so loud, that you better put your CD player off and enjoy their concerts. I had to take a photo of it, and then I thought: why not make a thread, where everyone can post a picture of a part of his own paradies? It could be your house or garden, your flat or your balcony, or just your own OFF Base in your own HQ corner. It could even be a special place near where you live, where you go quite often; which it feels good to come back to. What do you say? Come up with your pics, please! Here's mine:
  19. Every now and then, an OFF flyer observes problems with his install. Files may get corrupted in many possible ways, and it is often hard to find out what it was, that ruined your day. A friend of mine recommended the use of a Back-up Program. With such a program (in my case ACRONIS TRUE IMAGE) you can back-up a partition, or even a whole drive. Now, although I usually have all games on D:Games, I put "Over Flanders Fields" on my C:Bootdrive. The reason: OFF writes files into other Windows folders on C:, and so, if I want to back everything up, I need these data too. Now I make a backup every three days or so, of the whole C: drive/partition. After three backups, I delete the oldest one; so I always have 2 backups of C. Whenever anything goes haywire (not only with OFF files - it also saved me, when I had Windows problems after updates etc.) - I write the Backup back onto C: and the problem is solved. The handling is very easy (my friend said, he recommended ACRONIS to me, because it was idiot proff - fine friends I have.
  20. Gee, I have put JSGME into the right folder and added all desired mods. Had social duties today, but can't wait to try the new FM. A lighter DH-2, you say? Sounds good to me - damn, I can hardly wait.
  21. Thanks a lot for advice and modified versions, Lothar, I have "made my move" and will report on Sunday. Perhaps you guys should make a separate post about how to instal JSGME?
  22. Then I also have it all wrong. Is there a simple solution? Edit: I don't even find out how to deinstall "Generic Mod Enabler" from "CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields"???
  23. corsair, I fly with a personal skin, and that means also with 100 % fuel load. Still though, I rarely ever let the Nieuports dominate our fights. The Albatros is not the perfect turn fighter, but it can hold it's own against Nupes, as long as you don't let them drag you into RIGHT-ROUND turning. There they will win! Turn left rounds with them. And fly "triangular" more. With that I mean: approach a Nieuport and fire at it; then fly away from it again in a wide left round diving turn. With the gained speed, you can then either climb or go into another tight turn with your opponent. So, while they fly circles, you fly triangles rather. Most important: in fights against turn fighters, these guys will often try to draw the fight down to a low level, cause there you cannot do energy-fighting (diving for speed) anymore, and now they can dominate the fight. Remain at the top of all action; only fight their highest flyers. Even when your (poor) wingmen go down and get slaughtered - try to resist the feelings that make you want to go down to help them.
  24. The Great War ended on November 11, 1918. Maybe we have to wait until this date in 2012.
  25. Mmuahahahahahahahaaaaaa!!!!
