  1. This place here is maximum comfort, and like a holiday for the eyes.
  2. Stressful, Lou, to be honest. Maybe I'm getting too old for port battles, where the Yankees have their best daylight time - while for the Dane I play, it is 02:28 h after midnight... Maybe I'm trying too hard to win it singlehandedly again? (Well, thanks to such people, we are doing quite well for such a small NATION...) Let's wait for Hauksbee and Hasse - but if they don't appear in 15 minutes, we will walk over to the bar. No Lagavulin here nor anything near that origin, but I have discovered a chest with 6 bottles of Loch Lomond under the bar desk, which I guess will do nicely under war conditions.
  3. You guys are SOOO silly - but nice to see you, gents! Come to the bar - I'll buy the drinkies! Large booksize and high quality paper for such works like Pieters' allow firstly one great thing: high-quality and large-enough print of images and profiles.
  4. Ha, I KNEW you had more pics witj Moritz, Jim - thanks for sharing!
  5. There are photos of that last morning, where the other flyers "played" with big Moritz - they had tied some tin cans to his tail. MvR was usually not amused, when they played such dirty tricks on the big dog, but this morning he was overlooking it and laughing with them. Maybe JFM comes round here - he may have such pics with Moritz. Here is one more...
  6. Yeah, those windows might look good enough as a texture only?
  7. Yes, when we have Roucourt, I will fly a looong Jasta 12 campaign with the "Black Tails"! I'll send them the card.
  8. attilla - Portugal, Europe All the maps are in post #1 of this thread
  9. Maybe you add a reddish tint - to the colour. I wish we had colour photos from those days!
  10. Hauksbee, this looks amazing! Great job! I guess we should show it to Pol, before they start building it themselves! One correction though - I guess it won't be hard to do: the roof was higher, before it was burnt down at the end of WW1. Here is a postcard. Ignore the wrong-looking name - it is the "Chateau de Roucourt".
  11. We mean the same thing, Geezer. Thx for the links!
  12. These are also okay, Hauksbee - if you just remember to make them brighter than in the close-up; cause all more distant objects appear brighter and less dynamic than close on.
  13. Well, it might have been yellowish, Hauksbee - mine is only a guess also, based on what I've seen in the 70s and 80s in France. They might have been painted differently back in 1914... Here is a variety of Chateaus today... https://www.google.de/search?q=chateau+france&biw=1760&bih=847&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjczefuuNTOAhXH3iwKHduqBAkQsAQI0gE
  14. Gee - does the top photo mean, these two bullets really hit each other? What a rare thing that must be! Although - may they fired so many projectiles in that war...
  15. Hey, Hauksbee, that is a great job you have done with the 3D model of the Chateau! As for the colouring: we can of course only guess, what it might have looked like, so I can only try to help with my "Mid-European Eye & Knowledge". I have seen many chateaus in Germany and France, and they often use similar colours. The paintjobs on such buildings are rather reserved and less colourful and dynamic than for example Italian ones. So I suggest here what I have seen in France, as i remember it. Walls in "light ivory", roof covered with slate. The glass house could be made in a grey-blue colour - the dynamics would probably be done by ANKOR's shaders.
  16. To Hauksbee: Could we start a PM about making a 3D building? I'd like to give it a serious try now, so we can get on with two or three airfield mods we have in the make.
  17. Flying Venetian blind - Mmuahahahahaaa!!! I call them "Flying BILLY rack" (Copyright: IKEA). The skins of the Fokker D.VII look much improved by OvS, me thinks!
  18. Hauksbee moved to Wisconsin.
  19. Hayle55 - Texas, USA All the maps are in post #1 of this thread
  20. Indeed - all those victories achieved by ugly-looking aircraft...!
  21. Except for the nose maybe, the craft looks to me like a soapbox-derby car. If I had to survive the real WW1 air war, I would surely LOVE to receive one. But flying a sim is for having fun, for play-time - and here I prefer a beautiful or sexy aircraft. The S.E.5a for example is a sexy fighter. Not a beauty, but somehow sexy. So I prefer her over the Camel, which is neither a beauty nor sexy IMHO. But what did the Romans already say about taste...?
  22. I wonder if the German pilots also had a banter like that, but I think I would have heard of it. Guess they were talking rather straight.
  23. Women - they want a hero, and when they get one, they don't like his habits! Tch!
