  1. I am in the process of downloading all of my games on to my new computer. As each on is done I run it to check if all is OK. Well I loaded Some flight sims before CFS3 and OFF BH&H and flew them just to be sure was OK. LOCKON worked great and the Key Strokes for those few things I want , loaded on to my Logitech Extreme 3D pro Stick just as they always have. When I tried ,Again and again I could not get CFS3 , thus OFF, to accept any of the keys. I can still fly and shoot, but can not "load my buttons" on the flight stick as I have before. I am running Win 7, but the box said that the stick is ok with that. Maybe I need a basic quick course on "stickology" Any help will be appreciated. Thanks CW3SF
  2. I can not believe that after 12 hours some one has not made a comment. Is this unheard of?
  3. OT Service pack 1a Windows 7

Just did that VERY Looooong update also---- so far so good. CW3SF
  4. Where can I find the patches to up date CFS3 ( 3.1 &3.1A "I think thats what it is) , before adding OFF BH&H. Are there any up dated patches fot BH&H. Thanks CW3SF
  5. Quick Question

IF you read look at my join date-- couple of years ago. Would some else witha far smaller "chip on" _______ sent me the link to those patches. Oh yea with those outstanding directions I could not find what I needed.
  6. I have been tasked to demostrate "flight sims" to our computer club here in AZ where we spend the winter. Some would like to wet their appetite by viewing some videos------ Sooooo I need your advice here. Links to the best few would be appreciated. CW3SF
  7. Trackir-6?"

How many of you have used the light filter on Track 5? Seeing as there is no "6" ( my information was not good) I am left with 4, or 5 which has a slighty wider field of view. Does 5 offer any other "stuff" of value? With my set up, most times my wife is sitting behind ( on my 5 oclock ) with a reading light ( and sometimes ear plugs) so any issue with light would be a deal breaker. One of you wise guys, some time ago, offered up a portable wall ( screen) as a solution. Thanks CW3SF
  8. My fate is in your hands( much to dramatic I am sure ) but I do value you advice. On my topic a few days ago several of you gave great advice. The length and deapth of the answers were fantastic. I really learned about "stuff" that was only geek-speek to my ears before. Some you mentioned specific builders, and I have gone to their websites and made a configuration of identicle rigs with the hardware you folks advised. The difference in $$$$ is about $1000 between the high and low. Building my own rig is a nogo, and can't seem to be able to find a person in Phoenix AZ who has the expertise to do one. That person should have a history of very happy customers---- no luck in finding that individual. Soooo here is the list of those you guys said made "gaming rigs". Please select those you would have build your new computer. Digital Storm, Cyberpower, Origin, Falcon NW, or Main Performance PC Thanks to all who helped. Can't help but think several other members learned a great deal also. CW3SF
  9. I wonder what kind of hardware it will take for settings at the higher end? Will it really use SLI? That would be a first in flight sims--- right?
  10. Here are the main parts for my new computer. What do you think?? After reading much about going to using two cards in SLI, or not, Icame up with this set of hardware. Motherboard------ P8P67 Deluxe, CPU --- i7 2600K @ 3.4GHz, Memory---- 16GB @1333MHz DDR3, Video Card ---- Ge Force GTX 580 (1536 MB ) , Hard Drive --- 256MB SSD @6GB/sec , OS ---- Windows 7, I wil use my five year old Dell 24 inch wide screen set at 1920 X 1200 I am quite sure that Falcon NW will be my choice to build this ( I have no interest do build my own). Most of the games I play are simulations ( flight & subs) and Civ 4 and 5. I would pop for the SLI with the other card and pay the price if it added a great deal. So far it seams that this my be the best answer for my needs now. Thanks in advance for you thoughtfull comments. CW3SF
  11. Thanks again Tamper. You guys are great!!! Just completed a search and did alike computer builds with Falcon NW, Origin, & Digital Storm. About $1000 diff. from the high at Falcon to low at Digital Storm. As you all know by now if any one will need expert Cust. Service it will be ME! Who would you go with? I am in no real rush, so I will try to find a builder in Phoenix AZ. Otherwise out comes my AE Card. If I don't spend it my kids will! Thanks again guys CW3SF
  12. As Tony the Tiger would say you guys are GREAT. Good information from all--- Thanks. I will go with the more advanced 1366 socket system motherboard. The power will be 1KW. I will try to find some one in the Phoenix AZ area to build it--- and maybe look over his shoulder and get a little on the job training. Could be fun also. I was trying to get buy with a 256 SSD as my only drive--- but now some of you mentioned that Windows 7 does not work as well on the SSD drive. So now that leaves me with installing a second drive and doing some thing like RAID or SATA. Only one issue-- I have no clue what they are and what the do or how. Like I said, I am just an "old warrior" who likes to play games in my spare time. Could some kind person tell me about the care and feeding of RAID and SATA, and just what in the heck they do. Sorry to be such a bother. THANKS AGAIN CW3SF
  13. Thank you both. Very well done "Tamper", I will look into the 1366 board ASAP. The only "motherboard" I ever knew was the one My mom used in her kitchen. SOOOO Keep the good advice coming. CW3SF
  14. Thanks Hellshade, I did go to that link and downloaded a Windows XP pro version ( about half the size of the Win. 7 version) and so far so good. Thanks again CW3SF
  15. I have a old GTX 260 and running Windows XP pro------ would this download help OR hurt my rig?? Thanks for your input.
  16. How do you advise to correct the issue of Direct X 11 and OFF???
  17. About to order a new computer from Falcon NW ( don't even say " you should build your own" ) and the Guts look like this. Core i7 960 @3.2GHz 12GB memory GTX580 at 1536MB and 64 GB SSD hard drive Will this let me fly at MAX settings and enjoy the great graphics while dog fighting with lots of planes? Any suggestions out there. Thanks CW3SF
  18. PLEASE-- what are the keys for FPS? Thanks CW3SF
  19. I forgot-- Wat are the keys for FPS ( frame rate per second ). Thanks CW3SF
  20. Most of you out there know a whole lot more about computers than I ever will--- so a little help please. My current one is a "monarch" built in 04 just before they went "wheels up". Question 1, Who should build it ( NOT ME for sure). Currently thinking about Falcon NW. Question 2. We are fulltime RVers ( for the past 18 years) and haul our 5th wheel 800 miles between Arizona and Colorado twice a year. The past two computers have worked fine, however I am wondering just how sturdy a "liquid cooling" would be during the move. Think of it as about a low grade earthquake of about 20 hours twice a year.Do not need any leaks inside my rig, but am sure with what I want in the way of Video cards and such fans won't do the job. More to follow I am sure, and thanks in advance for your input. CW3SF
  21. Back in AZ for the winter and looking forward to flying lots and picking your brains on several issues. The Colorado high country was lovely this last summer but when the snows hit just as we pulled our Elk camp I knew it was time to head south. What's knew over the last 5 1/2 months? I did see that P4 is still in the works. My old Monarch Computer needs to be replaced--- thinking about going with Falcon NW and getting a cooling unit for all of the "hot" cards, cpu's, & such. The first thing is to get back to flying and see if I can still last more than a day or two. Thanks for all of the future advice. CW3SF
  22. Yes, in fact I posted that some time ago. Realism was at -10 ( auto mix &never die & never fill out those reports ) John Bergman ( on of past CO's in real life) enlisted on 1 Sept. 1915 and handed over his sword to a Brit on 11 Nov. 1918. He flew 128 missions, with over 90 hours, 162 kills, 5 medals up to Red Eagle Order and lots of holes in his shorts. I was only shot down three times-- pushing a bad position and outnumbered behind enemy lines. AA around airfields and rail yards caused some POW time. But being a whiz at SERE we got out and E&E home. The real DULL part was trying to climb up with the early "no power" kites. I did all of this while recovering from a rotator cuff operation with LOTS of time. It was great fun to get a new airplane and see just how it did against the enemy. Loved the Tri plane painted mine RED also. CW3SF
  23. Glad to be back

Thanks for the welcome back. "CW3SF" Some of you got close---really close. Chief Warrant Officer 3 with my last duty in the Special Forces, thus CW3SF. On some other sites I am "SNAKE" ( my call sign ). Some have me listed as CW3SF1937 or SNAKE1937 ( Born in 1937 ) I have to get a Track IR soon. I will be asking lots on this issue later.
  24. I have not visited the site for some time( long story) but felt I needed to add my two-bits worth here. My first uniform was as a Civil Air Patrol cadet in the early 1950's. Lots of ex WW2 pilots around with their stories and several chances to get a flight in cool planes such as the PT-17, PT-22, BT-13 and the AT-6. However most time was logged in the smaller ( and cheeper to fly) L-5's & 16"s. I became interested in the ground rescue team and later lead that team on several searces and rescues in the southern California mountians. In the mid 50's I joined the USAF and became a Rescue & Survival Specialist ( AFSC-92130). Back then we did it all, train the air crews and take part in searches and rescues. The training was rough, Very Rough! We were a very small group. Only a few on each Air Base ( fifty or more at the major schools ). Most Air Crews took to the outdoor part of the survival school quite well, but were shocked at the POW experience training. But then it was peace time and all was good. The 60,s changed that --- NAM!!! By then the distinction between a Survival Instructor ( comfortable and safe) and a Parajumper ( damn dangerous ) was for ever set. Two "vacations" to that place (pre- Jolly green giants)was about all I could do. Color me gone. After some education I felt the need to join the USArmy Reserves. A commander of a local Special Forces unit said you will fit in here "real good". I did, but the training was hard on my older body. I was activated and sent to several "fun locations". Wisdom finally prevailed and I moved my beat up old body to MI ( Military Intel. ) where it was safe air conditioned and heated ( or so I was told). We worked with the SF teams on planning and training for their missions through out the cold war period. My last "gig" was being involved in the preplanning and over seeing the special ops portion of Desert Shield and Storm. All of "my" guys got in and out except for one SAS team. I retired in 1993 with a total of 28 years and 10 months service. So keep paying your taxes folks. Soon my bride of 49 years and I will be returning to the high country of Colorado for the summer, returning to Arizona for a winter of golf and hiking. Been doin this 17years. My son and grandson have plans to hike two 14teeners this year if my knees hold up. Was this TMI?? CW3SF
  25. This was fun. I set the realism at -10 ( Auto mix, outcome easiest, and of course Never can Die ). I always forget the auto mixture thing. I hate the paper work Bull %$##. And if I was going to go through the entire WW1 the way I fly the can not Die was the only way to go. John Bergman was my pilot. Some of you may remember my writing this hero of WW2 and my CO long ago while serving my country in the USArmy. John made 128 missions with 162 kills flying about 90 hours( many were cut short due the need to return to the real world). He earned five medals upto the Red Eagle Order. John spent a fair ammount of time in POW camps but was a whiz at escape. What got him?? John was only shot down 6 times all in a fur ball. One on one the other guy went down. The most were Air to Air crashes, 16 of those. Attacking RR yards and Air Fields came to a hault after 8 early in the war. Running out of fuel after a line damage happen only twice. Rear gunners got me 4 times early on and did not attack them over there lines from then on. This whole project took over four months. Recovering from Rotator Cuff surgery was the reason for my available time. I found this enjoyable but wondered how anyone flew through the entire WW1 for REAL!!! CW3SF
