  1. BHAHII Missions and Campaigns

Notice how it happened as you were going through a cloud? You may have gone through a Double Vortex Time Portal. At that moment a German machine entered the portal and for a brief second you appeared before him. He managed to get off a short burst before you both exited. I imagine he's just as befuddled as you are.
  2. As the title alludes to, this is Mick Mannock’s story. I thought it was about time I profiled a British pilot. Once again youtube is being royal pain. I have tried numerous times to upload only to have it fail. The video time limit on youtube is 10 minutes and this one is 10 minutes 50 seconds. Okay, so maybe the extra 50 seconds is too much. I split the video into two parts and I was still unable to upload to youtube. So I went with the fall back of Simtube. Whereas youtube has a 10 minute limit, Simtube has a limit of 250 mb so the resolution is less than what you can put on youtube. Oh well. Hope you enjoy it. http://simtube.com/v...97/Mick-Mannock
  3. Had some free time and started experimenting with GIMP.
  4. While poking around on Wikipedia I was reading about the American actor Cliff Robertson. This is the bit I found interesting: Immediately after winning the Academy Award for Charly, Robertson attempted an aviation film tentatively titled I Shot Down the RedBaron, I Think. It was a spoof in which he played a fighter pilot against the Red Baron, who dressed in pink and was obviously gay. The Red Baron was played by Don Watson. During the summer of 1969 Robertson’s production utilized Lynn Garrison’s War One airfield, at Leixlip, Ireland, with a collection of replica aircraft, vehicles and support equipment. The film was never completed.
  5. Remembrance

Can't get the embedding to work. I may not have waited long enough after uploading for it to "activate". Anyway, here is the link. Hope you like it.
  6. Remembrance

Wow, thank all of you for the kind words and I'm happy the video has been well received. I usually render my videos in a higher definition but recently I have a problem with uploading to youtube. I thought they change the resolution when they convert videos to the flv format anyway. I don't really understand how all that stuff works. I will try to upload a higher def one and see if it's any better. It's just a hobby. I'm a service tech for mailing machines. You and more than welcome to use any video I've made any way you see fit. I have stated before that all I do is take wonderful music and combine it with an awe inspiring, beautiful sim. While recording video for Remembrance (and other times) I actually stopped to look at the overall scenery and thought to myself, “My god, how beautiful!” It really sucks you in. All of you at OBD have made it easy for me to make videos. Thank you all!
  7. A couple of short videos made with some leftover clips. http://simtube.com/v...HellCompilation http://simtube.com/v...ots-of-Flanders
  8. Two short videos

Yea, these were older video files leftover from other projects. At first I missed the “orange boom” but then realized the Hollywood-isheffect was out of place. Thanks for killing it. I checked and you are correct, I encoded at 4:3 tv ratio. I use ProShow and my only other option is 16:9 widescreen which, for some reason, makes is squished and really distorted. I recently replaced my 21” CRT monitor with a 23” LCD. These older clips were recorded using the CRT, but encoded on the LCD. Don’t know if it makes a difference. The Frank Luke video I did was recorded, edited and encoded using the LCD. It was saved in the same 4:3 ratio. If you don’t mind, Flyby PC, take a look at that one and tell me if it looks distorted also. Here is the link again: http://simtube.com/v...-HellFrank-Luke I will take a look at Virtualdub. Thank you for suggesting it. Rickitycrate, you are more than welcome to link any of my videos to Sim HQ any time you want.
  9. This is a link to Simtube. For some odd reason I have not been able to upload to youtube and I do not know how to embed a Simtube video. Sorry if this creates an inconvenience for anyone. http://simtube.com/v...-HellFrank-Luke
  10. Frank Luke video

Don’t mind at all. Anything that helps promote and gain exposure to OFF is a very good thing. Thank YOU!
  11. Frank Luke video

Hello Rickity, The view you are referring to, “…closeness of the pilot to the windscreen.” is zooming in with the ] key. I wanted to convey something more intense, up close and personal. The outside views are chase, target to player and I can't remember what the other one is called. I zoom in and out and use the hat switch to get the desired angle. I'm happy to hear that you liked it. I tried to make it as historically accurate as possible, given the information found on the internet.
  12. Good video. At times I have worse jaggies that yours. Lovethe music.
  13. Frank Luke video

Hey Rickity Not sure I understand about changing views. Do you mean fading from one to another or the different external views? Thanks Olham I’ve been working an insane amount (lots of overtime) for the last 6 months and have missed making videos.
  14. I thought about posting this under UK_Widowmaker’s thread, “Anyone know how to make a Screensaver?”, but didn’t want it to get lost in the shuffle. Here is some free software that may help people with their creative endeavors. OpenOffice http://www.openoffice.org/ OpenOffice.org 3 is the leading open-source office software suite for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, databases and more. It is available in many languages and works on all common computers. It stores all your data in an international open standard format and can also read and write files from other common office software packages. It can be downloaded and used completely free of charge for any purpose. Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ Audacity® is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems. GIMP http://www.gimp.org/ GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages. I upgraded my video card from a 8800GTS to a EVGA 285GTX and trying to play mpeg2 videos would result in a BSOD and a reboot. InterVideo would play DVD’s which are mpeg2’s and it would play all other mpeg2 files. An internet search pointed me to a codec issue. I found this EVGA forum: http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.asp?m=223882 I downloaded GSpot here: http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ And followed the instructions in the post and now I can play mpeg2 videos.
  15. I’ve been away two weeks for company training. Just finished a video I started before going out of town. I need to read the last two weeks of posts to catch up.
  16. I’m flying the Albatros DVa in Jasta 17 out of Mars-sous-Bourcq Aerodrome in the Vedun sector, July 1918. The weather is dark clouds and raining. I love the mood it sets. My flight of 5 is escorting some recce planes to the front. Just as we get to the front we are greeted by a flight of about 6 French SPAD VII’s. I give the order to attack and a melee ensues. I hold back, just above everyone else. I spot a lone SPAD breaking away just on the outskirts of the fight. I dive after him but he does not cooperate. He turns and dives away, but not before I put a burst into him. I try to stay with him but he is too fast and puts some distance between us. Just then another SPAD comes cutting in front of me from right to left about 100 yards away. Breaking left I’m on his tail and fire a few good bursts into him. I follow him down a bit and watch him auger in. I look around and see only 2 SPAD’s below and to the left of me. I’m at about 4,000 feet and they are at about 3,500. My flight is nowhere to be seen. Well, enough of this I’m heading home. I head east and watch as the 2 SPADS follow me. No problem I think. They are behind and below. I’m safe. Right? They close the gap, gain altitude and start getting closer, and closer. Well crap! I don’t want fight but there is not an aerodrome close and I am not going to give up and put down in a field. I decide to turn and face them head on. I break right and turn but they are too close for me to line up for a shot. We fly past each other. They break right and I break left. Now, this is where the AI impressed me. As I turned into them the wing man continues to bank to the right going under and behind me. The lead aeroplane flies straight ahead and level. I get behind him but he is a little too far for a shot. As I close on him I began to think this is too easy. Where is the other SPAD? I look behind me and sure enough he is just starting to turn on my tail. Then it dawns on me: They set me up! I shake my head and chuckle to myself. Wow, this is beautiful. I break left and engage the other SPAD. I know I must deal with him quickly for the other one will back to deal with me. As we are turning, diving and climbing I manage to get in a few bursts. He starts to wobble and slide to the right. By this time the other SPAD has returned and is about to get on my tail. I break off my attack and concentrate on the other SPAD. Again after more turning, diving and climbing I manage to watch him go down. The other guy must have bought it too because I was alone now. I flew to the nearest aerodrome and landed. Man what a ride! Things turned out in my favor this time. I may not be so lucky next flight. Beware the AI. They are beautiful.
  17. AI is beautiful

I stand corrected! He's ugly as hell and dangerous!
  18. Have to smile .....

I love the eye candy and physics in ROF. But I do not fly multiplayer so I have little interest in it. I have read where there is a single player element but its scope must be limited giving the fact that there are just a few planes and takes place in 1917-18.Like many others I see nothing wrong with flying other WWI sims if you enjoy them. It seems it boils down to a turf war. Is it against etiquette to mention one sim on another ones forum? I suppose it depends on the context. This is the first forum that I have ever joined so all the flame wars, haters and whatnot is new to me. I glad to see that there is none of that nonsense over here.
  19. Hey Bud, I think this is what they are referring to.
  20. I'm going on leave, 2

Let’s see now. We are going to have two OFF’ers on the continent, on holiday and I presume at the same time. Why don’t both of you meet at a designated spot and relive the Christmas truce of 1914 six months early? Preferably near where the front lines were then. Just kidding of course British and German troops meeting in No man's land during the unofficial truce
  21. Do you have a WWI movie idea?

I go along with Olham and OvS submission of Udet. But the one that I have been wanting Hollywood to make for years is also an OvS pick: Nungesser. This guy was something else. The writers wouldn’t need to embellish anything about him.
  22. Wow, compared to Ken Burns? Thanks for the compliment. You can’t see it in this video, but in others you can see a lake similar to the one you pointed out in another post. I named it Lake Hauksbee.
  23. Womenfly2, Thank you very much for this. Interesting to say the least. Did you catch the reference to MvR and his “Tango Circus”? I found it amusing that Fonk would say, “Without boasting…” From all accounts, after flying, boasting was what he was famous for!
  24. Anyone use Nhancer?

I’m curious Widowmaker, I have never heard of Nhancer but am intrigued after reading about it on their web site. Why did you decide to use it and what results have you seen?
