  1. Frank Luke

I would love to read the book but $64.99 is a bit pricey for me.
  2. I agree. It seems every so often I notice something that makes me say to myself, “Wow, will you look at that!” In one Camel there is a serial number (?) on the upper side of the top wing on the right. In the screenshot notice how there is dirt in front of the tents and the ends of the field. It shows the wear on the field from working and staging the aeroplanes as well as take offs and landings. Also at altitude the terrain doesn’t have that pattern look so many other sims have. So many things.
  3. I bet he had a blast. I take my grandsons to the local air show whenever possible. They are 2, 4 and 9 and they love it.
  4. Is it me?

It’s you. Sorry, couldn’t resist. Yea, I noticed the same thimg.
  5. good news and bad news

Oh man Creaghorn, Sorry to hear the bad news. Hope the surgery goes ok for ya. How long do you anticipate being down? Glad you can spend more time with OFF, but at what a price! Speedy recovery, Jammer

  7. Great shots of Mata Hari, bombs falling, flaming balls of destruction and action packed scenes. I’m jealous, you always get such great flamers. Well done Catch!
  8. Now why is that?

Ok, I was dying to say this before but didn’t want the thread to go OT. My favorite line: “Let me esplain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up.”
  9. I have started to....

Oh that is sweet! I like it!It almost makes me want to try skinning. I put a lightning bolt on a plane in RB3D once and even tried it in OFF. But it looked rather cheesy so I gave up on the whole idea. Hats off to all you skinners.
  10. For you viewing pleasure. A short video of music and movement.
  11. Thank you guys for the kind comments. As long as ideas keep poppin’ into my head I’ll keep making the videos. Jammer
  12. Focus

There are a few things that a flight sim has never duplicated. The feel of the airplane in yours hands and on your butt. A force feedback joystick tries its best to give some feedback, but it aint nothin’ like the real thing. Also you have no peripheral vision in a sim. TrackIR can help with panning but it does not give you any peripheral vision. Some “cheats” are necessary to overcome these limitations. What “cheats” are used and to what degree is up to the individual. No one should feel bad for using what is available to compensate for these limitations. I started by using a few of them and am still slowly weaning myself. I may never go hardcore. But I’m ok with that. My hats off to the guys (and gals) that can. Point is to be comfortable and enjoy yourself. Fly the way you want to and have a ball!
  13. I have started to....

Hey Widowmaker, put up some screenshots. I like to see it.
  14. Whoa, that looks very professional. Fantastic job! This needs to be a sticky.
  15. OT- Youtube

Perhaps you could report it to youtube and let them handle it, if they would. OR You could write a rebuttal and/or chastise the insolent bugger, in a nice way of course.
  16. I was looking through some of the old threads and saw that Duce Lewis had found a site back on Apr 6 about the US Air Service. I got a chuckle out of this story. Thanks Duce. http://www.usaww1.com/index.php4 Here is an excerpt about the 1st Bombardment Group. On July 10 a flight of six Breguet 14B.2 bombers from the 96th Day Bombardment Squadron bombers got lost and landed near Coblenz, Germany, falling neatly into German hands without firing a shot. Billy Mitchell wrote about this incident: "Our bombardment group was not in good condition... was poorly commanded, the morale was weak, and it would take some time to get on its feet. This was largely due to the fact that when I was away, the 96th Squadron was left behind in the Toul area. The officer who was then in command of the 96th flew over into Germany with what ships he had available for duty. He lost his way in the fog and landed in Germany with every ship intact. Not one single plane was burned or destroyed, and the Germans captured the whole outfit complete. This was the most glaring exhibition of worthlessness we had had on the front. The Germans sent back a humorous message which was dropped at one of our airdromes. It said, ‘We thank you for the fine airplanes and equipment which you have sent us, but what shall we do with the major [Harry K. Brown]?" I know of no other performance in any air force in the war that was as reprehensible as this. Needless to say, we did not reply about the major, as he was better off in Germany..." In all fairness, the mistake might have been somewhat understandable. The weather had turned to rain about an hour after the flight took off, bringing the clouds down to 100 meters (330 feet) and shutting down visibility. The planes were short on fuel and thus had to land.
  17. Thanks Pol, I love your sim and will gratefully buy whatever you offer. But I do feel a bit guilty. Are you devs spending enough time with your real lives? Your passion must run deep. Thanks so much for everything, Jammer
  18. Models of those? You bet! But not that scale! I hope you get what you need for your upgrade. Every pfennig (I know you don’t have those anymore) helps. As far as shaving goes, I do that once a week. I hate shaving AND having a beard. Jammer
  19. It probably was randomly generated by the sim and does not exist in the real world. However, next time you can hit pause, hit Z to bring up your coordinates in the upper left hand corner, write them down, go into Google Earth, turn on view grid and have a look see.
  20. ZEPPELINS OVER PARIS !

Very nice. Enjoyed it very much. I liked the newspaper at the beginning. Jammer
  21. About Spads

Thanks Bullethead, I tried the SPADXIII when I first started flying OFF. Didn’t like it. I’m not that good of a pilot so in campaign I fly the SE5 and DVII mostly. Easy to fly and very forgiving. However I do not want to limit my experience to 2 aeroplanes. Currently I’m flying the Albatros DII, or trying to at least. After reading your other posts I wanted to try the SPAD again. In the near future I will get back to it and try out your instructions. I copied and pasted your post into a word document for quick reference. Thanks again, Jammer
  22. OT - Merlins & Vera Lynn

No problem shredward. Thank you. I think all of us here love airplanes of all sorts. Beautiful song, beautiful airplane. I’m sure you remember there was a thread taking a poll as to our favorite 3 airplanes. The Spitfire by far was the most popular. I put down the three planes I worked on in the USAF, but the first plane that popped into my head was the Spitfire. I bought an addon for FS9 called “Wings of Power II WWII Fighters”. My favorite plane to fly was the Spitfire.
  23. I just looked through all the skins. Wow, I can see why the judges had a tough time deciding on one winner. Absolutely fantastic work by all the skinners. Congratulations Fubar
  24. I have heard that in hell: The English are the cooks The French are the politicians The Germans are the police Anyone know where we yanks fit in? Jammer
  25. Finally here
