  1. That was fun! I have a few more ideas for videos but mine are all somber. It’s nice to see something on the lighter side.
  2. Bug Still?

RR I’m jealous. The farthest I’ve gotten is a tad over 16 hours and 2 DFC’s. Jammer
  3. OFF P3 is.....

Well it seems as if everything comes down to the “realism percentage”.Never mind that you can scale numerous aspects and tweak it the way you want it. It looks as though some folks want to have it tweaked to their satisfaction AND want the realism at 100% or better. I’m no different really. No better than the next guy for I too want the prestige of flying at 100% +. You bet I would like to have bragging rights for 100+. But I can’t. I fly anywhere from 40% to 90%. Sometimes zero. We all get focused on the number. Same as we did with the number at the end of the claims. That’s why the devs too k it off. If you want to have 100% realism and the way you want it then continue to give your realism input to the devs. As for me I tweak and tweak and tweak. Just yesterday I saw an over looked adjustment for player flight density. Ticked high and now, sometimes, I have 6 or 7 in my flight. I won’t keep it there but it’s nice to fly that way sometimes. I don’t think that tweak reduces the realism percentage but I will take claims to easy if I shoot down an EA over a friendly aerodrome and land there. Realism percentage be damned. After I lose 3 or 4 pilots on DiD I switch to either easy or easiest. For me the frustration is part of the fun. It’s all there guys. Just don’t get hung up on a number. Jammer
  4. A few days ago I started to keep track of my location when I got a kill so I could put it in my claim. I would pause then press M for the map. If I was close to something such as an aerodrome, town or front lines I would make a note of it. If I was in the middle of nowhere I would write down the longitude and latitude coordinates so I could look it up on Google Earth later. As I was doing this I wanted to see where all my kills, or victories, were located. I got the idea to start plotting the locations and make annotations in Google Earth. This is what I have so far.
  5. Idea for more indecisive action

As incredible as it may seem, this is a quote from Chuck Yeager’s book speaking of himself and Bud Anderson: “We had the best eyes in the group, and could pick up specks in the sky from fifty miles away.”
  6. OFF P3 is.....

Voted ok. Great, Great, Great sim!!! The ups and downs are incredible. Happy (and too cocky sometimes) at the end of one flight with one or more kills, then dead or captured and the end of another. Mad as hell at myself for letting it happen. What did I do wrong? What should I have done differently? I must say that sometimes I get tensed up at trying to complete a mission such as ground attack, airfield attack or photo recon. It’s a challenge to move around clouds and enemy flights to complete the mission. To me this is way more than a dog fighting sim. I enjoy the mix of missions, even the scrambles. As I’ve stated in another post: This isn’t just a sim, it’s an experience! Jeez, I could go on and on. Getting back to the point of the post. My only wish, and not a criticism, is to be able to crash land (and survive) or land with injuries and spend some time in hospital. I’m ok with everything else. Great, Great, Great sim!!!
  7. Hey Dej,Great map. It’s incredible the possibilities out there. Are you going to “publish” your work when you’re done? I have looked at the McMasters University maps and photos. I really wanted to see aerial photos of aerodromes but understandably the recon pics were mostly of the front line areas. Even though I didn’t find what I was looking for I found the other photos fascinating to look at. This led me to read about the Battle of Passchendaele. What struck me the most was the devastation of Passchendaele. Here is the wikipedia link for anyone interested. Down the page a bit on the right hand side you can see the aerial photo. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Passchendaele I wanted to put in the front lines into my project but didn’t know how. You have given me something to look into. Thanks, Jammer
  8. What a p*sser

Widowmaker,You could deal with this two ways. 1. Pretend you have been injured in a sortie and in hospital for a while. 2. Fly as if your Charles Nungesser. Charles Nungesser, French Air Service, Medical Record (1918) Skull fracture, brain concussion, internal injuries (multiple), five fractures of the upper jaw, two fractures of lower jaw, piece of anti-aircraft shrapnel imbedded in right arm, dislocation of knees (left and right), re-dislocation of left knee, bullet wound in mouth, bullet wound in ear, atrophy of tendons in left leg, atrophy of muscles in calf, dislocated clavicle, dislocated wrist, dislocated right ankle, loss of teeth, contusions too numerous to mention He was often so hobbled by wounds and injuries, he had to be helped into his cockpit.
  9. Well, I just spent a few hours working on this video only to discover that you tube has a limit of 10 minutes. My original was 10:45 so I had to chop it down some. It’s still a bit long but I hope it’s worth watching. Jammer
  10. I´m in love with the Camel

I tried flying the Camel after the SE5a. Flies like a dream but I could not get use to that upper wing. Even with the “window” above the visibility is limited.
  11. Game freezing?

I see this from time to time whenever I’m warping.
  12. Hey Warren, I use Fraps for the video capture and Pro Show Gold for composing and editing. If you get Fraps I would suggest capturing at half size. Full screen turns OFF into a stuttering slide show. Jammer
  13. Sit back with a cuppa

Very nice indeed. I would have preferred a slower pace but with youtube’s 10 minute max I understand it’s just not possible. Especially when there are 240 pictures! Nice music and sound effects too.
  14. In my first few days of flying OFF I captured my first screenshot. At first the plane was on fire, and then something burning separated from it. I honestly thought it was the pilot jumping out. It was only after getting a few more hours behind me that I realized it was the engine.I was kinda disappointed. Maybe I should seek therapy.
  15. Uncleal, That is absolutely hilarious!!! Jammer
  16. Thats it

Hello cosmos33, Expanding on Rickitycrate’s post. For the longest time I searched the internet looking for a worthy successor to RB3d. I was very disappointed to only find arcade type WWI “games”. Then one day I happened upon Over Flanders Field. After looking at screen shots and videos and reading the forums I was sold. Phase 3 was not out yet but was in beta. Phase 2 was available but you had to have someone make a DVD and mail it to you. I’m sure that someone would have if I had asked but I didn’t. I wanted Phase 3. The cost didn’t bother me. I was willing to wait for the final product. Periodically I would check the web site to see the status. The devs asked for people to sign up for Phase 3 to see what interest was there. I signed up giving my email address and waited and waited and waited. A few months passed then I finally received an email saying it was ready. Hot dog! Of course after ordering I had to wait some more. But believe me, once you have it you your seemingly endless wait will fade away. Over Flanders Field is more than I had anticipated. It’s no game. It even goes beyond being a sim. For me it’s an experience. Jammer
  17. The Age of our pilots

Thanks Olham, Yes, sadly, I must agree about your assessment of Americans. I have lived in England and been to Germany, France and all over the world. I have experienced different cultures. We Americans can be ignorant and crass. Well, nobody is perfect. Sorry for going off topic everyone. Jammer
  18. The Age of our pilots

Hi Creaghorn, I’m curious. How does someone from Deutschland know about an American icon such as Mickey Mantle? Jammer
  19. Musical Score for OFF movie 11

I also loved the music and was a bit curious who scored it. I watched the credits and saw the name Matt Milne. After a google search I found the following sites: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=289762 http://www.mp3.com.au/mattmilne http://www.myspace.com/matmilne I found “hymn to the fallen pilots of flanders” on soundclick.
  20. After patching to 1.3 and Normal DM 1.3 I do not get a claims form at the end of the mission. Twice I have shot down 2 EA’s. According to the post mission debriefing I didn’t even fire a shot!
  21. No claims form in 1.3

Well I don’t know what happened before but I deactivated my pilot having the claims problem, activated an old one and flew a mission. Although I didn’t shoot down any planes I fired a burst into the air. During the debriefing it did indeed show rounds fired. I reactivated my problem pilot flew a mission (with kills) and all is right with the world. It showed machine gun rounds fired and a claims form this time. Thanks Polovski, Jammer
  22. Poooooor Pfalzer's

Ok, I gotcha now. Thought maybe you had a special reason for it but I was looking too deep into it. I would have started with the older planes first then worked my way up just to be historically linear. When you suggested going backwards it threw me but looking at it your way makes perfect sense. Jammer
  23. Poooooor Pfalzer's

Hi Olham, What’s your reasoning for doing this? Just curious. A while back I started a campaign flying the Eindecker, got into a dogfight, banked left and promptly fell into the ground. I had read about how the Eindecker would “slip” when turning but was still surprised when it happened to me. I gave up and moved on to the Albatros. Thanks, Jammer
  24. I’m sure that most if not everybody in this forum knows how WWI started. A wrong turn by a driver in Sarajevo and a chance encounter with an assassin which had repercussions through to the end of the cold war. What I did not know is that there was another chance encounter during WWI that could have kept WWII from occurring. It took place in September 1918. Follow the link to read the story. I found it fascinating. http://www.firstworldwar.com/features/tandey.htm
  25. I found this German site with some Sanke cards. http://www.frontflieger.de/0-navi.html
