How are medals awarded in the game?
Test Pilot replied to Canvas Wings's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Just dont make tight/quick turns to the right in the Spad. Can turn fine and fast going to the left however due to engine torque effects I would presume. -

NVIDIA GEFORCE 8600 VID CARD
Test Pilot replied to capn rick's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
You bought the card new and it's just 3 months old? -
A neat thing to put into the game eventually would be to have the Curtiss Jenny. Not combat armed and perhaps only available in freeflight. But if you want to train in WWI planes, or just sightsee, the Jenny would be fun to have. Or it would provide the bicycle with a worthy adversary finally.

And the swine flu turned out to be not as bad as some expected....

Anti-Aircraft Artillery in game...
Test Pilot replied to Venator's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I agree though Venator, it would be nice to be able to see archie raging from other battles miles away. Unless I just havent noticed that aspect yet... -
Recommendations for a new Joysticks ...
Test Pilot replied to Womenfly2's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Well I wouldnt say that having had forcefeedback, I now couldnt fly with anything else. But it is very nice to have and is a lot of fun feeling the differences on controls among the various planes. For something like forcefeedback which is more complicated than a regular joystick (eg. motors in the base) itd be almost safer to buy a new one and have a warranty just in case. But if the price is right, why not get a 2nd hand one. But take heed of the warning that Uncleal provided. -
Is there a way to just get up and fly in campaign mode in between "scheduled" missions?
-
Well I dont know how the flu is political. But then you cant go "without getting all political" and then bring up Obama and Iraq!

Anti-Aircraft Artillery in game...
Test Pilot replied to Venator's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
As far as damage from AAA goes, it was very light. Rickenbacker spoke of how eventually pilots would just learn to ignore the archie since it was so ineffective. Some pilots would even perform aerobatics through the flak just to taunt the enemy gunners. The one lost pilot due to archie Rickenbacker saw came as a complete surprise to all and his death was regarded as a freak accident more than anything. Ground fire from enemy units protecting observation balloons and other ground targets on the otherhand was quite deadly and made these attacks quite dangerous and casualties were far higher than the high altitude shots. Personally I like the current set up. But a good debate is always welcome :) -
Keep trying to set the axis. I dont think Ive had that problem with my rudder pedals (but I may in fact have....), but I definitely found my throttle quadrant to not be recognized in assigning new axis (the controller is recognized just not the commands). Keep moving the controller on its axis and it eventually will find the key you want. Perhaps this is related to sensitivity being too low while the null zone is too high. Check these settings as well.

Saitek Throttle Quadrant and OFF
Test Pilot replied to planecrazydale's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
I have the pedals and they work very well with no drawbacks after having them for half a year now. Only advice would be to make sure the in game controller configuration is set up properly. Of course, it's simple to do and likely second nature for people. But as basic a step as that is, I seem to forget it quite a bit and am in for a surprise when I use the rudder and find the plane noses down! -
Yeah, kissing a pig is nothing. If people could only see how much bacteria is infesting their kitchens, dirt probably would start looking pretty darn clean.....

Ha! Out of curiosity, how many people have died from the regular flu since the "pandemic"? Wouldnt you think its been more than from the swine flu???

World War 1 era maps for flying
Test Pilot replied to chrispdm1's topic in WOFF UE/PE - Knowledge Base
These are great! Thanks a lot!!! One request though for Flanders; could you include an index map like you have for the Somme region. Granted it wouldnt be very detailed, but itd be nice for a general overview. But these very impressive indeed. -
Where is the honor in that?!?!

As much as I like the current claim system (in fact, it was one of the main selling points for OFF3 for me - an interactive approach), claims seem far too dependent upon wingmen. If I remember correctly, American pilots and French as well needed confirmation from ground units not fellow aviators (at least this what Rickenbacker implied in his book).Perhaps the location of the kill should impact the likelihood of successful claim such as where above the lines the battle occurred at least when there are no wingmen around to corroborate the kill claim. The devs though in all likelihood have considered this already and for whatever reason havent implemented it...

Recommendations for a new Joysticks ...
Test Pilot replied to Womenfly2's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I like the Saitek evo forcefeedback. But the throttle does stink. I use Saitek's throttle quad so it doesnt bother me, but given the faults with the joysticks design, in my opinion it's almost required to have another throttle controller with the Evo. -
That reminded me of the Holy Grail there when teaching him how to scream...
