  1. Map crashes scrambles?

4 scramble missions. 4 crashes with map key. Starting to see a trend.
  2. All invited to MP on Sunday, 5 July

Got connected to TS today just fine (minus the fact I'm still - 1 mic.) Hopefully I can hit up BestBuy before work tomorrow and be set up for sunday. S!
  3. Almost Deep Purple

Very Nice Olham, one of your best! S!
  4. Map crashes scrambles?

Well, my career was advanced a day on the third crash so I wasn't able to try for a fourth. But I was successful in opening the map right on the runway on the next mission (NOT a scramble) with 8 friendly craft on the field. Iff I think about it I can't remember a time when the map crashed my game other than the three times in a row on a scramble mission. PS - I rebooted my computer after each time the game crashed. Just me being cautious, but it still crashed. May be something worth looking at. I kind of hope I get another scramble mission soon to try it again.
  5. Map crashes scrambles?

It definitely has something to do with scrambles. I just replayed a scramble mission three times. The first 2 times I hit m at the very end of the engagement to check crash sites for claims. The third time I simply fired up my engine and hit m...crash. Going to do a restart and go for a fourth just to be sure. I have 6gb of RAM and am running an ati radeon 4870. I hope im not hurting for video memory.
  6. JUST CAME IN THE MAIL!

For padlock to work correctly yes. Without the TAC screen up, you can not cycle through enemies effectively. And those enemies that entered TAC range after you turn it off will NOT be selected via (next/previous target) untill you turn it back on. Some people like it, some people hate it. For me, w/o TIR, it's the only way I could play this game as the views otherwise in a combat situation are less than addequate at best. S!
  7. JUST CAME IN THE MAIL!

S! launch, and welcome to the OFF experience. As far as the views go. I do not have TIR either so I use a combination of views. 1. Snap views - using the hat switch to snap view left, right, check six. (although quick and effective to check around your plane, very ineffective way to track targets.) 2. Free look - Not sure the default key, but when you press free look your hat switch allows you to pan around, up and down, etc. This is a little slower than snap view, but you get a smoother panning view this way. 3. Padlock - I use padlock when in combat, as it's really the only way to effectively track a target without TIR. First I switch my TAC to show aircraft 'only'. Select a target and then switch padlock on. As far as your issues with tracking or not tracking the target i cant help ya there. Anyway, GL with setting up the game LB. And enjoy it! S!
  8. All invited to MP on Sunday, 5 July

Well i have TS. just need the address ya'll use. I'm west coast. northern california. Oh, and untill i get a new mic ill be a mute TS participant.
  9. All invited to MP on Sunday, 5 July

This would be a perfect time for me to finally get some mp time in. Any chance of a mp session prior to sunday for those lazy pilots (ME) who dont have their rigs set up yet? I have DL and run Matt's mp essentials. So I 'think' I'm ready. But I'm not only the president of "Murphy's Law" I'm also a client.
  10. Opening video music

Yes the BH&H musical score is fantastic. I often watch the intro video to get in the mindset to go flying. PS - AROTH that avatar is my favorite. pretty much me as OFF loads up.
  11. The fights with the aces are so great! I had another chance encounter with the Baron yesterday and I must say, I executed a perfect 180 and dive for home. It was fantastic. Great stuff Olham. As always. S!
  12. Thanks for the answer Winder. I never really strayed from the mission path much. I always thought the enemy would not appear anywhere else. Gives my 'true' DiD pilot some more freedom to roam now. Thanks, S!
  13. Along these same lines. Are you just as likely to run into an enemy flight if you follow the waypoints on your mission, as you are if you fly your own route that is not in the same flight path. It has been my experience (so far) that the enemy never shows up unless you are inside your intended mission path. Sometimes I just like to fill the tanks and go exploring. Take my flight up to 15k and look for recon craft etc. S!
  14. Nice find Olham. I shall put his picture up as a tribute to his bravery. S!
  15. Just a few in the collection for the week.
  16. Name that pilot! Hi all. Just had an encounter with a group of Albatross DIIIs that jumped our flight enroute to target. One of the enemy pilots had an all black plane with a red 'shooting star' it appeared painted on the side. I've been trying to keep a record of all the aces I encounter. Along with the date and result of the engagement. Anyone happen to know who this man was that I caught trying to sneak up on my wingmates? S!
  17. Jammer's vids are allways top notch. Great coordination with the musical score and the action. Bravo jammer, outdone yourself again sir. S!
  18. Can't fly it any other way

Yup! blood froze then immediatly boiled over when I saw the rest of the flight break through the clouds above him. I think every one of the flight of six maybe save one was painted in fantastic color schemes. Really quite a head game. "Is that?...no...couldn't be. Not THIS far north! All red... IT MUST BE! So this is it......" S!
  19. Can't fly it any other way

Yup! none other than MvR! The other is one of his glorified wingmates. (the name of which i do not know) I took that pic some days ago. I like the first one as well. I could hardly believe what i was seeing. As I took this pic in the first few weeks of flying OFF. Havent run into the barron since. I just figgured he's goin easy on me since his flight mopped up my poor rag tag band so efficently on our first meeting.
  20. Can't fly it any other way

As long as I 'believe' the fight to be in my favour, I press the attack. BUT! Sometimes you gotta know when to fold em... This poor camel pilot had no idead what he was getting into... ...and this was the last time he was seen. Leason learned! It's quite a relief that one has the chance to learn all of these leasons without fear of death. In 1914-18 they had no such luxury. S!
  21. 1: north west (no hyphen, two words, no caps) 2: I do not write the time on any of my claim forms. (usually dont ever bother to look at the clock) 3: Enemy craft crashed. 4: Altitude, # of enemy, location of scoring rounds (wings, tail section, engine), and location of crash site. My claim forms are pretty boring matter-of-fact reports of the situation. I do enjoy the claim form process, I just don't like to spend more than a couple minutes filling out paper work before i get back up in the air. PS- my three current active pilots are (31 confirmed / 35 claimed), (8 / 10), (4 /5)
  22. New Noop anyone?

Looks nice! I love the nieuports. So nimble, it's like a cat in a three-toed sloth fight. Can't wait!
  23. Which DM do you use

I use hardcore dm. But only because otherwise i feel it's 'too easy' to bring down an opponent. and also i feel it's too easy for my craft to be brought down otherwise. Other dm's are fair it seems, but for me, hardcore is the most "realistic" mode. S!
  24. S! Launchbury To answer your question sir I have removed 'wind effects' and set my mixture to 'auto mixture' in the workshop. Other than that I fly on full DiD. Here are my settings: No "easy peasy settings here"! Unless you consider "light regional air activity" easy peasy. Otherwise it's set to full DiD. Normal claims and promotions. Here is that pilot's current sheet: As to your concern of the realism of the game. I can assure you that the OFF devs have done a fantastic job on making this a true SIM, and not just some arcade shooter. Really the only way to fully appretiate that is to play it. I can see how this pilot's dossier looks outrageous. But I can assure you that countless virtual brothers of young Thomas Macklroy have been shot down in flames prior to his taking to the stick. Some on their very first mission. I just didnt think those pilot dossiers would be any fun to post. Anyway, I figured I had better defend my Virtual honor here. Just returned from a nice 7 day leave. S! gents.
  25. The Right Stuff

I'm not really sure who has MORE of the 'right stuff'. But I can tell you all people involved with 3:35 in that clip have it. A LOT of it! That was intense.
