  1. Map idea

Red Dog I love the idea. I'm quite bad at navigational directions. "he's east." east of where? "east of me" where are you? "good question" LOL serriously, very simmilar to actual conversation over TS. My only suggestion would have to be smaller grids. Or maybe a grid inside a grid. Like letters A-Z inside each numbered grid. I only say this as right now box "9" in your example map coveres the area from Lille to Douai, Aras and Lens. That's a lot of area for just one grid section. But I would use something of the like. NIce work.
  2. Rate Multiplayer Online

Well this is going to be impossible since I have such a posative bias towards OFF to begin with. But Ill try to be objective here. ********************* MP Then & Now. Well I joined up flying multiplayer just earlier this month so I'm not sure I can comment on the "Then" portion of the question. But as for "Now"? 8.5 overall. Online glitches (mismatches, jitters, etc.). (7) For me the only category that is not a score of 9 or above. Aircraft / skin mismatches are quite infrequent and often easily solved but there are occasions where it keeps a pilot out of action for the day. As for the "jitters" this is my only major concern with playing multiplayer. Many times I simply will circle around the enemy encounter and in a few seconds the aircraft seem to settle down and the jitters stop alltogether. Yet still on other occasions they "jitter" around to an extent that I can't engage in combat and have to let the others do the work. (I can only speak to what I see during the MP game, others may not experience the same) There are quite often missions where there are no "jitters" at all, while others seem unplayable. I would also mention the "lock-ups", since they do occur 'ocasionally'. But in all fairness my single player campaign missions crash me to the briefing screen more often than a MP session 'locks-up'. DOH! hehe Ease of joining MP games. (9) This is where the MP gurus really shine. Stumpjumper, Sitting Duck and the gang really have got there stuff together here. I'm not a very computer savay guy to begin with. But since downloading and installing the few MP patches I have yet to be UNable to get into a game. And those that do have an issue it is 9 times out of 10 resolved in a few short minutes. TeamSpeak is vital here. I mean this is face to face IT support guys!!! Great work and thank you guys! Online hosts. (10) Easy. Not even a question. Vasco, SD, Stumpjumper, Axe are simply another reason TO join the MP community. You guys are great! Types of MP missions being flown. (9.5) This would be a 10 too but those missions where MvR shoots me in the dome from 800yds infront of everyone keeps it at 9.5. Attitude and behavior of online players. (10) Won't find a more friendly bunch in an online sim anywhere else. But should that supprise anyone? I have to rate the OFF community on a whole a 10. Comments: My experience with the MP aspect of OFF has been very posative! I've enjoyed flying with Jasta 4 and Vasco's aces and look forward to every sunday morning! If anyone has ever even 'thought' about trying MP, the only thing I can say to you is TRY IT! We have individual skins already! hehe Come get your claims confirmed by "human" pilots! And get a shiny new plane for your efforts. Did I mention that we have some GREAT artists in the group as well. I managed to get credit for my 5th confirmed victory just last sunday, And a BIG thanks to our very own Red Dog for putting a personal touch to my newly delivered Alby! COME FLY THE MP SKIES!
  3. OFF runs pretty much flawlessly on my rig. I get about 30fps lifting from a busy aerodrome. In lvl flight about 40-50fps and a steady 40-45 fps in combat (slightly lower on the deck). Only one problem keeps rearing its ugly head. The crash to briefing. after a few minutes sometimes longer sometimes shorter OFF/CFS3 will freeze and kick me back to the briefing screen. It was mentioned in another post that setting your CPU affinity to 1core specifically for OFF would squash the problem. Has anyone else experienced this issue? And if so have you been able to fix the issue? I love this SIM and really couldn't be more pleased with the support and community that comes along with it. However being unable to complete a campaign mission is a small drawback. Any help or advice is always appretiated. Computer specs: AMD64 Dual core @ 3.00GHZ 4gb ram vista 64 ati radeon 4800 yadda yadda yadda PS - Uncleal, please DO NOT post your usual 'sticky' advertisement in this thread. It's Not necessary.
  4. ts message

If you use this ip it should work now. A few of the guys were on tonight using this new ip. If anyone still has problems post em here. Thanks again to Dutch for getting us all set up. S!
  5. tues 11-24 session

When you go into 'workshops' also make sure that your MP aircraft config is set up this way. Lower left hand corner of workshops. Seems to prevent the AC mismatches. Hope that helps.
  6. ts message

I believe it's working now VG. Do you have the new IP?
  7. ts message

Any word on what that new IP is going to be for TS?
  8. Jasta 4 Online Campaign

I'm in the new DVa we just recieved. RedDog did a real nice job on this Albatross! This is my new ride!
  9. MP Sunday

Another fun day over flanders fields gents! First mission I believe we accounted for 12 destroyed enemy aircraft. Tommy was busy this morning and so were we. With only losses due to computer issues (none shot down), which was great. My flight lead of the escorts on the second bomber escort mission was quite educational. And although we lost a couple pilots, our bombers gave that Brit Aerodrome a nice working over. And how nice of the connection to stay up long enough for our two seaters to get back over friendly lines before deciding the mission was over. It's so much more satisfying (for me anyway) to run a mission with actual other players as wingmates. Thanks again Vasco for hosting another succesful campaign day Over Flanders Fields. Here is my after action report for the second flight of the day. (sorry no SS's i was too busy having fun to remember to record it, although vasco playing with the flak would have been a good one.) Just a report of the mission from my perspective. A lot of holes to be filled by those unmentioned in my report. ************ Date: November 12, 1917 Our mission was to escort a group of friendly DFW's to the enemy airfield located at Mont-St-Eloi. We lifted with only minor delay and circled the field to reach the altitude of the frieldy two seaters. Once at altitude (roughly 9000ft) the DR1's mantained close formation with the bombers while Dutch and I took our flights to the bombers high 9 and 3 o'clocks respectively. At this point one of our Pfalz pilots was reporting engine troubles and had to turn for home. (Kingkat had unexpected visitors at home and had to log. hehe Doh!) On our way to target a flight of SE5a's were patrolling just bellow our formation and hitting our observation balloons. Seeing as we had just reached our cruising altitudes for the flight we had to let them go, for now anyway. As we crossed over the lines and into enemy teritory a flight of 4+ spads intercepted our group. The DR1's and Pfalz's engaged while the albatross flights maintained cover for the bombers. I wonder if I should have sent the other alby group into that fight as well as the engagement claimed at least one of our pilots (RedDog) when a spad snuck in behind and shot him down. By now we approached our target and the bombers began to drop altitude to make their run. No sooner did our two seaters start to drop altitude, did an enemy flight of RE8's run right into our little flight. Dutch's Albatross flight engaged the unescorted RE8's while my flight maintained cover over the bombers. Stump made a great bomb run and numerous hangars at the enemy airfield were seen destroyed and up in flames. At this point I had lost contact with most of the friendlies. We had pilots engaged with spads and RE8's, meanwhile the bombers had done a 180 for their return trip. I turned my flight to cover the two seaters but they were now so low I had lost visual contact with them and we were separated. At that time a second flight of enemy RE8's passed just bellow Av8er and myself. We engaged and put two down in flames just a few seconds apart. As the friendly two seaters reformed and were nearing the front lines they were attacked by enemy bristol fighters. I decided to turn and break from the last remaining RE8 in the flight, I believe av8er was chasing him at the time, and try to help cover the bombers. By the time I had arrived there was only one enemy fighter left. He was in a completely defensive bank trying to keep his rear gunners view clear of the fighter on his tail ( that fighter was Vasco). Totally unaware and defensless against an attack from above, I dove down and put a long burst into him and his engine ignited and down he went. We then formed up with the bombers and headed for the lines. The other flights were now returning from their victories as well. It was all the computer could take. NO more! NO MORE BEATINGS! it cried out. I Yield I Yield. And thus locked us all out of the game. Personally i think vasco wanted to go to bed and had decided he'd had enough fun for the day. hehe ***************** Thanks again for hosting Vasco. Now we just need to see about getting my new DVa all pretty for the missions next weekend. Also thanks all for bearing with me on my first flight lead. Escort missions in combat flight simulations have always been my favorite. Something satisfying about being able to run bombers right through the enemy and knowing they cant do anything about it. Muahahahah!
  10. working on an alternate map

    Looks great! Great work WK.
  11. Heya stump i know i asked you earlier if you edited the tracers in game, but here is what i was getting at. My tracers pre-patch use to be a white/yellow, but now they are a wierd dark orange. I'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this effect. Here are a couple pics of what im talkin about. Tracers pre-patch Tracers post-patch They were normal during the QC i was in before i DL the patch. and they're like this now. It seems silly to worry about something like this but it really is actually kinda anoying to me. It reminds me of the IL2 tracers (which i just hate). I'd like to get them changed back but have NO idea what file to look in. Any help is appretiated.
  12. Tracers look wierd now

Nevermind. deleted the pilot profile started a new one and its fixed. Was only getting wierd tracers on one profile....oh well. nothing to see here move along, move along.
  13. My First OFF Video

    Bravo sir! That was fantastic
  14. gotha nite

Can do friday, cant do saturday. But you can't please everyone all the time. I'd be up for an impromptu game today (fri.) if anyone else is available and interested. Otherwise ill catch ya on sunday. S!
  15. Setting CPU affinity manually

Thank you for your replies gents. Some very good ideas/sugestions. If i was a bit more computer savy i might be able to figure some of this stuff out on my own. But in all honesty i'm one of those gamers who goes to the pc store and says..."gaming rig" to the guy and lets him build it. Ill get started on some of these ideas today. Not worried about loosing pilots or having to reinstall OFF / CFS3 from scratch, since i've done that twice already. And the game itself runs perfectly ..... besides this one crash (one crash that happens 100% of my campaign missions though.) On a side note, I can play a MP game from takeoff to landing if someone else is hosting. I have yet (knock on wood) to crash to briefing while another player is hosting the game. S!
  16. haha Olham. My grandfather use to take us on camping trips in to the high serria nevada mountains here in california. His response whenever one of us kids would ask how much further, would ALWAYS be. "oh, not far, just up around this bend." There were a lot of bends and corners as we hiked. hehe On topic. Cant wait!
  17. Graphics

The default "in game" button is z. it will bring up information in the upper left of the screen. FPS is one of those little bits of info up there.
  18. Setting CPU affinity manually

Touche` sir. I would like to be able to play the game on my 'current' set up though. Av8er, i'm not looking for a new video card. Although it seems ATI is like the plague for gaming. (funny, because the guy at the PC store recomended ATI...bastard...hehe) Back on topic....Looking for those who have set CPU (not video card) affinity for their multi-core processors, and their experience with squashing the CTB (crash to briefing) issue. Thanks again.
  19. Fantastic looking shots there Pol! Once again you guys 'never' fail to impress.
  20. mp session wed 11-12

    Look ma, I'm famous! hehe.
  21. mp session wed 11-12

  22. Sounds great Axe! Ill be there
  23. how do I disable shadows ?

Hi Crepitis. From the OFF main page go into "Workshops" From the Workshop page hit the "Graphics config" button. Select "Custom Settings" this should get you to the graphics sliders for OFF. Now in the upper left where it says "window" click and select "overides" from the drop down menu. There you will be presented with an aray of settings that you can adjust simply via a check box. One of those many boxes is "disable shadows" When you are done hit OK or file and exit and your setings should save. GL and welcome to OFF !
  24. Thanks again to Vasco for hosting another great campaign Sunday. I got a frozen screen (as did a few others) on the first mission, but more than likely saved me from myself geting low and slow with all those neuports on the deck. For me the second mission was smooth as silk. Great FPS throughout and managed an rtb! (campaign first!) And the flight knocking down 10 enemy craft with the loss of only one of ours (flak or bug? not sure what was the final word on axe's plane) was icing on the cake. Vasco mentioned ealier in the afternoon that the Pfalz crew were of the top scoring pilots of the sqn so I winged up with RedDog and Dudly for the second go around and what do ya know! We ran into a flight of unescorted RE8s. And while flying top cover as they knocked out observation balloons I ran into another flight of 3 more RE8s that the triplanes were chasing down. I will most definitely be hangin around with you Pfalz chaps for our next mission. Also the patience of the bunch today was fantastic. We had a few people needing tech support(including me with mismatch planes DOH!) and ya'll were johnny on the spot with the help as always! I think we managed to get EVERYONE in after some quck tweaks and patches. Most fun i've had flying OFF so far. And I fly alot. S! Mack-
