GTS250 nv4_disp errors
VonGuber replied to Rickenbacker381's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
How so? I haven't been around the discussions for a while... -
Well, I'm glad it's working for you. I don't want to cast a shadow, but since I posted about this I've started having trouble. I posted about it in the "nv_4 display error" thread. I only get about 3-5 minutes of flying time before getting a graphics crash. I'm really thinking it's something besides the driver, since it did run just fine. I'm hoping it doesn't happen to anyone else, but if it does, maybe we can figure out whats' causing it.

GTS250 nv4_disp errors

Yes, it is a bit unusual I suppose. However, like you're approach to drivers, I don't believe that newer is always better with operating systems. I've used Vista on our laptop, and no matter how open-minded I tried to be, or what rationalizations I heard about it, I just don't like it. Beyond that, I have some cad software that I really need to use which won't run on Vista without emulators, extra software and strange alchemical rites with dark incantations. So, I considered $135 for an OEM copy of XP when I built this rig...I just couldn't make myself buy an OS that I disliked so much just to save a few bucks to get another OS that may or may not be worth much. I'll probably keep using XP until 2014 or whenever they finally pull the plug on it. Now I just have to find a 64-bit version so I can use all this wonderful memory. Thanks for the suggestion on the drivers. I'll try to roll back to what it shipped with. I had recently updated to a newer driver and everything had been working perfectly. Not sure what happened, but it's annoying. -

Apologies for the necro-post, but I was wondering if anyone ever figured out the nv4_display error that mal had? I'm suddenly having it too. It's strange, because things have been running fine until now (about 2 weeks since I installed). The problem didn't crop up until I had a pilot killed and started a new one. Sliders only set to 4 across the board. I'm running a Core I7 920 processor on an EVGA X58 MB, with EVGA GEforce 260 graphics...6gig ram but only reading 3 currently as am running XP 32 bits. It's a new system so I've just updated all the drivers Any clues? Thought I might check before uninstalling....thanks in advance for any insight. -

Yes, I'm using it. I can't tell a real difference in display quality, but I'm not having the annoying little glitches during flights like I was before, so I'd say it's an improvement.

Another OFF Immersive Moment
VonGuber replied to Duce Lewis's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Yep, just had one. Actually, I've had two in the past couple of days, but one involved being on the bad side of Jasta 2...we won't discuss that one... I've been flying sort of a retraining campaign, (since it's been awhile) so was flying out of character as a British pilot, N17 with Lewis gun. In the middle of a strike mission, being tail ender and having nothing else to do, I spotted a single EA nearby and below, heading towards a friendly airfield. I tried signals, but apparently the flight leader and others were oblivious to this choice target...so...I broke off and dove on him. Just as I was well and truly committed to an attack (proved to be an Halberstadt...) 4 of his closest friend appeared, low over a nearby treeline and heading right for me. Just as I was thinking it couldn't get much worse, it did. The sky turned black with Archie from the airfield below. So, here I am...head swiveling like Linda Blair to try and keep them in sight and closing on my intended victim from above and behind. Then I see two of them go down to ground fire, one in pieces and the other in flames. So, figuring I might as well continue, I closed on the first plane...got very close and fired two rounds at him (they went high, darn wing mount...) Just as I let off the trigger, the Halberstadt just disappeared in a cloud of bits and a puff of black smoke. Apparently the Archie fellows were having a good day, and by some miracle they didn't hit me as well. I've never seen that happen before...especially so close. Then, as I climb and turn towards the last two, one of them apparently decided to break off! He just turned tail and ran, so I pulled sort of a roll (missing the tree tops by at least 10 feet or so...)and got behind his friend and shot him down with about half my ammo. I could still see the last one, so decided to chase him. Somehow I caught up; he must have been damaged. Oddly enough, there was one of my flight-mates hovering around him, but not shooting. I made a couple of passes, hit him hard but he wouldn't go down. When I pulled off, he was heading for the lines, doing a good imitation of a dolphin while trying to miss the tree tops. Being out of ammo, I figured there was no choice but to head for base... but WOW! I was actually sweating when this was over... The whole thing was over in probably 6 minutes, but it seemed like hours. I really liked phase II, but this is a bunch better. I'm glad I got a new rig put together and decided to give this a try. Also glad to find this new forum (yes, been away since the last one crashed or something)...now off to check my screenshots. Cheers, -
Hello all, I've just returned to the OFF world after an hiatus and wanted to say hello again. I've recently built a new computer capable of running BHaH (50+fps!!! yippie!) and am now re-immersed and loving it. Must be very rusty, since I've only survived 4 hours or less with all my pilots so far. Will get back in the groove soon, I hope. I've noticed one odd think here, though, and wanted to ask if anyone else has this happen. My Saitek Cyborg FFB stick used to work very well for me...still does. Except, once in a while during a mission it just....well....stops. The screen freezes and stays static until I pull the USB connection and reinsert it. While relatively minor, it could be a real problem in a furball. Any ideas? Cheers, VonGuber

Now that I've stopped laughing at that story........ It's good that you're prepared. We had a UPS drive in the local area killed by dogs a couple of years back. They got between him and the truck and wouldn't let him out. Be careful.

Thanks, That gives me something to look at. I'm not running anything over 4, so that shouldn't think that's the trouble. (I hope...)
