Heh well I am making an assumsion here that the distance numbers are in yards and not feet, and jump was not a good term more like pull away (like their engines were faster than mine) but I use auto mix on the fuel so that should not have been the problem? Prehaps it was due to my planes flight attitude not being completely flat?

I have been steady in placing pilots into their prison camps, these chaps are heavy eaters and will wipe out their entire supply of bangers in no at all

Now I broke my first plane doing a tight turn in an EIII and pow red screen "you died" no EA around so I know it must have broken or puffy ack got me but don't think that was the case

Ok thanks I will do that, as I suspected probably most of my problems are "operator error" or "pilot error" in this case

Ok thanks guys maybe I missed a DR1 that was on top of me from above??? there were alot of em there about 10 - 12. As for the computer I upgraded from a core2 dual core to a core2 quad core for more pipes for RoF, and I got the Geforce 260 GTX, so I thought what the heck may as well max the ram and went from 2 gb to 4 gb (but forgot the almost 1gb on the vid card). I also mildly OCed this thing since one the things the new bios flash allowed was OC. I have got CFS3 up and running correctly now (which should help OFF run right), all my other flight sims and games seemed to run ok it was just CFS3 that gave me fits after the upgrade, which of course made OFF unplayable since the two dance together. I was also fooling around alacrity and ch control manager and may have goofed something up there. The result was one of those "all nighter's" getting debugged and reset, then I flew this mission with DR1's (hmmmm maybe that wasn't such a good idea). As for fuel mix I had it set to auto as I don't like to micro manage (its bad enough in a real plane LOL)

Hmmm I have 4 gb ram and 895 mg on the 260 vid card, thanks for that tip I do have all working well but was wondering about the 64 bit OS I may go that routel. Now as for speed vs lift, if I am 1000 yrds ahead of you no amount of LIFT will make that up, only speed to catch me will do it, now if they were above me and dove they might pick up enough smash to catch me but a DR1 doesn't like diving much (if its modeled right) oh well not a game breaker just an observation I actually LOVE off for the way it does the "campaign mode", much better than RoF at the moment but then they are new and are working on it. Oh btw as far as know all the others are fine but not as much improved as I suspected they might be, the OS may be the choke point??? Since I was upgradeing an old Dell 700 xps I put as much in as the "law would allow" and still keep the original MB because I didn't change that, PLUS I got trackir5 otw soooo I hope I can run it all.

Heh I have been flying these things since RB on the sierra network (circa 1984?) and have flown almost every flight sim that has come out both off and on line and currently fly AH2, RoF, and this one plus CFS3 (if I can get it running right again) the DR's manuverabilty IS superior to the SE5A but any good SE5A pilot will dive and out run the DR because it is so slow and VERY poor in a sustained dive (like wings start departing soon). In my case I had so much smash over the targets I chose to shallow climb to repeat the B and Z but the DR's simply tight turned onto my and six and over took me, sorry but that is just not right. I can live with lazer like mg fire from the AI but to overcome physics in flight are hard to take and still stay emmersed in the game.

LOL yeah I got all the patchs on including the last one that messed up MP in fact I spent all of last night loading and reloading cfs3 and off ,I upgraded my mb to a q6700 from an e6600 and added 2 more gigs of ram and all of a sudden things that were working fine like cfs3 and off were not (cfs3 will give a no disk error and then run??) finally got them going and then they fritzed again while try to use alacrity to boot. None that has anything to do with planes in formation and suddenly 3 of the AI wingmen pick up speed and fly away LOL. As for the previous post I know what the strengths of the DR1 are and SPEED is not one of them and they lose energy like a rube at the fair. The SE5A was one of the fastest planes in the war and I attacked from above them and never manurvered except to climb and STILL they caught me and lazer gunned me down LOL

LOL I am new to OFF also and on my second flight I was dueling with Han III gunner, I managed some pings with no real success, sooooo like all newbies (even tho I know better) I let fly with a longer burst and pinged him again on the next trigger pull, NOTHING ooops gun jam. As I cursed and pounded the U key (to no avail) I paused the game (very realistic LOL) and had a cool drink, aaaahh thats the ticket and lo an behold the guns were firing again, soooo my take on it is to bring vast quantities of drinks with ya cause at alt they will be cool :). On a more somber note I believe there are accounts of clearing jams, so some method of "trying" should be included even if it is a 2% chance

I tried to progarm it like Homeboy showed in his excellent guide but alas it didn't work (it did open Ch control Manager but did ot load the "map"). Home sez something about 8.3 but he lost me on that turn, I copied his line exact with the exception of putting my .map in place of his example <sigh> no joy. I have an older version of ch control manager 4.10 I think maybe this is the problem??

LOL yeah well, thats for sure and you are more of "builder" "modder" but he got started doing skins for aw (or at least trying to, they refused to give him the code he needed as I recall). I will be relying on your other guide when my Trackir 5 arrives, this will be my FIRST forray into the land of "moving" heads I hope I can adapt to it -

Thanks Mark I thought that might be it, I will try it out later this week as I am upgrading my puter *(I hope it all works LOL) and I have to disconnect my stuff to remove the old one and then reconnect to install the new one I hope my old maps work in the new one I would hate to have to rewrite all of those LOL. Excellent work on the guide BTW, you kinda remind me of Dale addink. BEFORE he was the AH creator back in the old days of 6 buck an hour AW <S> Jim -

Speaking of workshop, I get up but I cannot get the graphics sliders up??? when I try to click on sliders it does nothing and graphics, cfg in the middle is in a large white box??

OK this is what I did for the CH HOTAS, in the CH Control Manager I set up a map with the map wizard had everything combined into one stick (fighterstick, pro throttle, pro rudder pedals) csf3 recognized them all and everything worked, so then I just programmed the map the way I like it and boom off you go the cfs3 settings all work in OFF. As for trackir I can't answer yet cause I just ordered trackir 5 this morning (looking for some awful hairpulling and screaming while I get used to it LOL)

Yeow what a nightmare, game showed up and I installed it, but now I cannot register the product key since I cannot get anywhere on the RoF website and when I try to register it just times out, this is starting to smack of the WWIIOL release years ago, a total disaster. If they don't solve this problem quickly the game will be returned as at the moment it is DOA.

Yeah the update was due anyway, RoF just pushed up :) and yes I have the mobo and power supply for it so that is why the upgrade and NOT a new computer PLUS this setup should help OFF run well when I get it installed :) Just hope CFS3 installs or I am out my bucks for OFF :(

OK new update I have installed a new GeForce 260GTX 895 meg, and 4 Gig FSB 800 memory FPS is now up to the refreash rate limit of 60 and dropping to 48 or so in heavy traffic with setting all at med and post effects off. The game is looking ALOT better now, so after the screaming and ranting shakey start I got it going with some upgrades but I am not done yet I am still waiting on my Q6700 cpu that I ordered, and once the quad is in place I might be able to sneak the settings up to High

The complaint about DRM always smacks of a suspicious need to have all the code available to be happy? DRM is the copy protection for RoF <shrug> doesn't bother me, I own the game and have been working it for 2 days, I just ordered all the stuff for OFF and will enjoy that one too -
Update I finally got it all going, and if I set rez to 1024 x 768 (manually in start menu) I can get a whopping 25 FPS but at least it flies and I have worked on the controls (they were out of cal for some reason) so now I can play but man it has been a hassel.

Well they finally got me going and I tried to fly the thing: my computer is not good enough to fly it I guess, I did get it going but the interface is awful and clumsy, the flight control REFUSEs to let me have the proper throttle and rudder control (I guess there is some programmer trick to make it work but what the hell if I wanted an erector set I would have got one). The FM absolutly SUCKS (waaaaaay too touchy) the only good point to this thing is the graphics (which of course I have to turn all the way down just to get it to run on my system). My System: intel dual core 2.4, Gforce 7900GTX 512 meg, 2 GB Ram and while it will run this game at minums it is actually a major FAIL Sooo unless you have the patience of Job and a state if the art puter you can forget this one.

Well they got the server up but now I am waiting for a return e-mail to get it working I have been waiting for over an hour and no e-mail when I try to re-register it tells me they have the e-mail so as usual just sitting here fuming and swearing that I will NEVER buy another game with this scheme

Yeah the Russains are playing coy now saying "what type of problem, tell us more about it", I wonder what part of YOUR REGISTRATION SERVER has crashed that they don't understand. PLUS if you cannot register you cannot get on to their forms to TELL em lol. This is exactly what happened years ago when WWIIOL had their disaster launch, the developers started acting defensive. RoF now seems to be doing the same thing, it appears they were unprepared for a large hit when the game hit the streets in the USA, it killed the server, the game cannot be played till "code" is entered, the code cannot be entered due to dead server. Result game is DOA.
