Flight model for Skunkworks Alb D.IIIoef
whiteknight06604 replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
I think the model he made is the later one with the 245hp? not sure off the top of my head. EDIT; found this on the net. The Oeffag aircraft were built in three main versions (series 53, 153, 253) using the 138, 149, or 168 kW (185, 200, or 225 hp) Austro-Daimler engines respectively. The Austro-Daimlers provided improved performance over the Mercedes D.IIIa engine. For cold weather operations, Oeffag aircraft featured a winter cowling which fully enclosed the cylinder heads. Austrian pilots often removed the propeller spinner from early production aircraft, since it was prone to falling off in flight.[11] Beginning with aircraft 112 of the series 153 production run, Oeffag introduced a new rounded nose that eliminated the spinner. Remarkably, German wind-tunnel tests showed that the simple rounded nose improved propeller efficiency and raised the top speed by 14 km/h (9 mph).[11] All Oeffag variants were armed with two 8 mm (.315 in) Schwarzlose machine guns. In most aircraft, the guns were buried in the fuselage, where they were inaccessible to the pilot. In service, the Schwarzlose proved to be somewhat less reliable than the 7.92 mm (.312 in) LMG 08/15, mainly due to problems with the synchronization gear.[11] The Schwarzlose also had a poor rate of fire.[11] At the request of pilots, the guns were relocated to the upper fuselage decking late in the series 253 production run.[11] 253 153 -
I'm gonna jump on the band wagon here some more Austrian fighters and 2-seaters would be great.if enough aircraft were available I'm sure somone would throw together a terrain.heres hopeing.

as long as no one names anything "skynet" we should be ok.I kinda like the irony of robots sending the "faithful" to their just rewards. -

I guess even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. -
I set it up with left and right decals.I set the size to something like 15 or so and guessed at the "center" at that size the decal covered the whole uncolored parts.it seems about half of the skin.bmps are unused.prob left overs from the original pre-conversion maps.It was very confusing to figure out what was needed and what whent were.I give you major props for attempting to make a skin thats worth releasing.the one I did was just a hack job to make it look a little better as a target.

give me a little time and I'll try to get the names for you.I us a simple hex editor to track down the names in the lod file btw.HxD is the one I'm using it was a free download. ok the parts name is FuseSeams I hope that helps.Again I have to say that your skin looks excellent.

yeah I got a new grafix card just to run the new terrain. It's like a whole new game now.

looking really good.I did a simple cut and paste and ran into the same issue with the untextured areas on the fuselage. If Capun can't resolve the problem for you what I did was make a large decal that matched the fuselage and find the mesh name in the out file and apply, sounds easy but it was a pain in the @ss to get it to line up and it wasn't perfect by any means. But it was better than nothing.

I thinl there is some minor changes to the shape of the lower wings on the pfalz.I have a few more sugestions for mods he can do to some of his plans to make other versions but I don't want to bombard him with requests.
