  1. Guys, I'd like to change a few of my fellow pilot's names, but when I open the Pilot log file all I see is a bunch of random numbers symbols, and letters. It didn't look like this in OFF. What might I do to change my squadron pilot names? Thanks!
  2. Not trying to offend anyone, just thought this was too funny not to share (please read with a light heart and a sense of humor) WWI explained as a Bar Fight. (I did steal this from another forum though) Germany, Austria and Italy are stood together in the middle of the bar, when Serbia bumps into Austria, and spills Austria's pint. Austria demands Serbia buy it a complete new suit, because there are splashes on its trouser leg. Germany expresses its support for Austria's point of view Britain recommends that everyone calm down a bit. Serbia points out that it can't afford a whole suit, but offers to pay for cleaning Austria's trousers. Russia and Serbia look at Austria. Austria asks Serbia who it's looking at. Russia suggests that Austria should leave its little brother alone. Austria inquires as to whose army will assist Russia in compelling it to do so. Germany appeals to Britain that France has been looking at it, and that this is sufficiently out of order that Britain should not intervene. Britain replies that France can look at who it wants to, that Britain is looking at Germany too, and what is Germany going to do about it? Germany tells Russia to stop looking at Austria, or Germany will render Russia incapable of such action. Britain and France ask Germany whether it's looking at Belgium. Turkey and Germany go off into a corner and whisper. When they come back, Turkey makes a show of not looking at anyone. Germany rolls up its sleeves, looks at France, and punches Belgium. France and Britain punch Germany. Austria punches Russia. Germany punches Britain and France with one hand and Russia with the other. Russia throws a punch at Germany, but misses and nearly falls over. Japan calls over from the other side of the room that it's on Britain's side, but stays there. Italy surprises everyone by punching Austria. Australia punches Turkey, and gets punched back. There are no hard feelings, because Britain made Australia do it. France gets thrown through a plate glass window, but gets back up and carries on fighting. Russia gets thrown through another one, gets knocked out, suffers brain damage, and wakes up with a complete personality change. Italy throws a punch at Austria and misses, but Austria falls over anyway. Italy raises both fists in the air and runs round the room chanting. America waits till Germany is about to fall over from sustained punching from Britain and France, then walks over and smashes it with a barstool, then pretends it won the fight all by itself. By now all the chairs are broken, and the big mirror over the bar is shattered. Britain, France and America agree that Germany threw the first punch, so the whole thing is Germany's fault . While Germany is still unconscious, they go through its pockets, steal its wallet, and buy drinks for all their friends.
  3. Thanks for your reply I'm using the most current version, with HiTR installed.
  4. Ok so I've got a Jasta 11 pilot going now, flying in mid 1917, he's been flying for 3 days now, and has 15 claimed kills. Each flight has been filled with 2 seaters / bombers, which basically means a free kill. Its a pretty big immersion killer for me to come back every flight with at least 4 kills to fill it, I dont think it was like that in real life was it? It seems like every mission its either the BE2c or FE2b; I'll come across a squadron of one of those and wipe the whole group out. My wingmen dont ever get any of the kills, they rarely shoot at them, and I'll end up bringing the whole group down. I'm curious if this means I should change air activity to light, or if this is how its supposed to be. It also seems strange that the bombers dont do anything either, they just fly along and wait their turn to be destroyed. If I were a bomber pilot and a squadron of Albatroses started closing on us, I'd do anything to at least try and get away, not just continue on straight and level. Any help or advice would be great, thanks guys. OH! P.S. - To the dev's, if you start a Jasta 11 career flying the Halb., your wingmen crash into the hill at the end of the aerodrome, meaning you fly solo most of the time. lol.
  5. Thank you sir! Had a feeling that was the case. Shred: Just saw that your location is Lake Louise, I live down in Washington state and went up to Lake Louise to vacation a few years back. You live in a beautiful area!
  6. Thats a great video! Now I have to say though, I've never seen anything like that in my experience. The most enemy aircraft i've seen (bombers aside) at once was maybe 8. I have all the workshop settings correct for seeing large fights. Is it maybe because I fly in early 1917? Again, awesome video! I really need to get track IR. Also, the expolsions / wings breaking off of the aircraft, is that all the default DM? I never seem to see those but I would really like to.
  7. I agree. This has always been a minor sticking point for me with OFF. Not enough to really effect the way I feel about the game but it would be nice if they could fix it.
  8. What a great way to go!

    BAHAHAHAHA!!!!! ZZZZIIIINNNGGGGGG!
  9. Sounds great! Its kinda refreshing to have something other than Fokker EIIIs to shoot at, now I've got something that puts up a fight . I think whats happening is that I keep running into FA62 (i think thats who they are) who used the CII as a fighter; which explains why they break formation and fight if you try and dive on them.
  10. Thanks for the info! Thats pretty much what I figgured was the case.
  11. Hey all! Just a question about how the custom paint schemes went for the French side (in real life). My most recent adventure finds me flying for Esc 3 in a Nieuport 16. After a few months of flying I'm up to 19 kills and I figgure I've earned myself a custom paint job (might as well look the part right?). I like to keep the realism going as much as possible and try to do things as they were done in real life; but that got me to thinking: I'm not sure how that worked back then. I know the Germans more or less would go to town on their craft in very bright colors, but that doesnt seem to be the French way. Did the French have more regulations on what was or was not allowed? Thanks for any feedback guys, like I said, just want to keep the realism going. I dont want to fly around a red Nieuport when such a thing would have never been allowed in real life!
  12. I dont really know what to say here. I'm flying an early war campaign and so far its been a walk in the park. Fly up, shoot down some Fokkers with my N11, fly home. Now though, I'm fighting the Roland CII. That craft seems to be a formidable foe to say the least! It seems to be able to fly like a fighter, it seems very strong, and has a rear gunner. How do you guys approach these foes? Is it best to just let them go? Once a furball forms it seems like every wich way you turn you in someone sights, be it the pilot or the gunner. So far I've been brought down (alive) by 2 Rolands in the last week. Help me!! Thanks guys
  13. Nieuport 16 in HiTR 1.47

Hey guys, just to shed some light on this issue: I believe this is intentional by the devs. If you do some research on the N16 you will find that they equipped it with a larger motor and a larger MG causing the craft to become quite nose-heavy. This was fixed in the N17. The N16 was basicaly a N11 with a new engine and a new MG, so if you take a perfectly balanced design and add weight to the front... well, you do the math http://en.wikipedia....iki/Nieuport_16
  14. HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hardest I've laughed all day. Thanks man, I needed that!
  15. Guys, 1st off: its been a while, glad to be back! Ok, so I've got a budding young French ace "Daniel Gue" flying a Nieup 11 for Esc.3 now; he's doing quite well (not to jinx myself!) and just yesterday he scored a monumental victory! He shot down not only Oswald Boelcke but Max Immelmann as well, in the same flight! Now I know the 11's are superior to the EIII's but hey, two aces in one flight isnt bad no matter how you slice it right?! So I'm pretty pleased with myself here, and move onto the next day. Its a scramble mission, I think to myself "Great, bring the krauts to me this time!!!" and happily jump into my trusty 11. Into the sky I go to meet the doomed EIII's, and to my horror I see that that both Boelcke and Immelmann have RISEN FROM THE DEAD!!! What gives?! OK, so I know that aces are set to die on their historically accurate date of death (which I totaly understand); but suppose I want to "change history", how would I do so? Now most of my background comes from car racing simulators for the PC where I am pretty experienced with moding files that "arent supposed to be modded" so I know my way around files and folders, and editing. Suppose I make a backup of the appropriate files first, what do I have to delete/change to just eliminate aces that I've taken care of? My theory is: find Boelcke's file or whatever aces I've shot down and delete them. Then when/if my pilot dies, just put them back in place when I start my next campaign. What files am I looking for in this case? Thanks for reading my long winded question guys
