I've never assembled a Antec 1200. From what I've read I think you'll have no problem with 5870. But there's one thing that I don't like in that PC case. It's the way the 3.5" bays are oriented. It will always be harder to do a good cable management and with that graphic card and the 8 pin connections being in the rear end... trully I don't understand why the Antec engineers still design their cases this way. But maybe the firm with whom you're dealing maybe they can give you an opinion also. I still don't understand why they can't get the CM690 Advance II. Is that a little firm? Even though..... Anyway why not the CoolerMaster HAF 922? I've assembled one. In spite don't liking its aesthetic, it seemed very well builded with a good air flow. It will fit a 5870, as far as I read. -

The CM 690 it's the old model. It's a good tower, but it had one problem with power buttons, they were kinda stiff. The new model doesn't have anymore that problem. I'm sure you'll find it in UK already. http://www.coolermaster.co.uk/ http://www.overclock...A-196-CM&tool=3 It's the depth that is important, specially the inner depth. EDIT: But if you want to go with the old model, no problem because it's even better for cable management, there is meven more inner space I think, and the 5870 will fit well. The only problem is the button. I could live with that, but you know there are some people who care with that kind of things. EDIT2: Read the reviews in my second link. -
Olham he is not Walter Carlos anymore. Now he is a she and she changed the name for Wendy Carlos. http://en.wikipedia....ki/Wendy_Carlos I was a big fan of that Soundtrack. I'm still a big fan of that movie or any Kubrick's movie. creaghorn, I see you like BSG the new one, and yes I agree with you, Bear McCreary made an outstanding job. The soundtracks of the four seasons of Galactica are a must have.

I've already assembled a few rigs with that case. Antec is a very good brand. But I really don't know the size of that graphic card you want for your rig. I don't use Sapphire, only Asus or Gigabyte. If the card is the same as the Asus, 10.25 inches, I'd say that it will be on the edge with the Antec 300. I'd consider and advise you the new model from CoolerMaster the CM690 II Advance. It's a little more expansive, but it has better quality and it's slightly bigger, which is important for cable management and for the assembling of your graphic card. Remember that you've a 6 and a 8 pin power connectors in the rear end of that graphic card, and with a 1/2 inch spare with the Antec 300 it might be just too tight to connect the power cables. 850W it will be enough. I've simulated for extreme conditions and 750/770 it would be enough, but with a 850, sure. -
So true. Most of the times what we get is bad CGI. And when we get good CGI, usually, we just get a crap movie, with poor argument, acting, photography and lousy edit. I bet with the approaching of the centennial anniversary of WWI, we'll get a bunch of WWI's movies. I'm pretty sure most will be crap.

Great news Matt. :clapping: Soundtracks for computer games are becoming more and more important. For the first time, besides yours of course, I've downloaded a computer game sound track to my mp3 player, to listen it. I do this very often with movies and TV series soundtracks, but with a computer game it was the first time. The game I'm referring is "Mass Efect 2". A quarter of the pleasure I get from playing that game is due to the soundtrack, emphasizing the drama and help building the immersion factor, just like in a movie.

Use this calculator. 700W it could be too short for the extra SB card, 4 ddr3, 10 USB and 5870. As for the cooling I really don't know. There are a lot of solutions. Zalman, Artic Cooling, Noctua, etc. It really depend on a lot of factors. Atmospheric factors, case quality, overclocking... You live in England, near Wales, I'd say you'll have less problems concerning hot temperatures than I for example that live in Portugal. But, like I've told you before, I really I'm not used to work with AMD. For now you can work with the stock solution, but monitor it in the first weeks of usage, specially while playing with it. What's the PC case? Any reliable brand? -
A new score. This would be great.

Von Paulus replied to Rugbyfan1972's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
IMHO if you don't plan to play with more than 1 monitor and not using any resolution superior to 2560x1600, you really don't have too choose the 2GB versions. Unless you want to stay with your card for the next 5 years. Even tough I'm not sure you'd benefit from having a 2GB card. I cannot foretell the future. My policies regarding graphic cards are always the same. I don't buy graphic card above $300. Each 2 years (3 at most) exchange the graphic card. Like I've said, if money it's no problem, go to 5870. As for the Windows version, I'd check Microsoft site to really see the differences between the three (I don't consider the Basic Version) versions. I bought the Home version, but really should have gone to the Professional because I do some tests once in a while with networks. That is the only reason to me for why to choose the Pro over the Home. Concerning my persdonal case, the Ultimate doesn't bring really nothing special. -

Von Paulus replied to Rugbyfan1972's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
As far as I know, the 5850 it's a good card. If by any chance I'd the opportunity tho exchange my 4890, I'd choose in this moment, the 5850 1GB. The new Nvidia 470 seems to be a good option also if you don't mind with heat and noise. REVIEW But why the 2 GB? Which resolution are you intending to play? So if you're playing with normal resolutions (like 1920x1200 for example) you should consider the 1GB models and not the 2GB. Another thing, if money is no major problem, probably I'd choose 5870. Read this article at Tom's Hardware page. EDIT: For the rest I'm not used to AMD CPU's so I really can't say anything. But why the Windows Ultimate version? Do you really need it? Wouldn't the PRO be enough? -
It Hasn't Been Six Months But I Just Have To Share This !
Von Paulus replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Even being just a short license, welcome back RAF. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. And also thanks to the MAW team. -
I, like UK and uncleal, wouldn't touch the classic. In the hands of most directors it would be spoiled with ad nausea CGI. In these days they seem to want to remake everything, so... I'd never choose P. Jackson or Spielberg for such a film. S. Kubrick or even S. Fuller aren't among us anymore, so I'd choose probably C. Eastwood or R. Polanski. Guess it would have less CGI and more drama. For the role of Stachel, Daniel Day-Lewis would be nice but it's a bit to old so I'd have to choose Jude Law. For Heidman I'd choose Ralph Fiennes. Charlize Theron could be Kaeti. For the General I really don't know how can I replace James Mason. Maybe even being in jail I'd choose Sean Connery. EDIT: Just remembered, Bruno Ganz for General it would be much more suitable.

Where or how to change the joystick's sensitivity in OFF?
Von Paulus replied to Animator's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
No chance, Animator, to change anything regarding the joystick. You'll have to use the maker's software if available. -
Maybe it's time for Spielberg to change composer. I mean, IMHO, since Nixon's soundtrack, John Williams has not produced nothing really relevant. Long goes the time of Jaws, Raiders, Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Everything is sounding just very repetitive and dull. It's his style. But I guess this is normal, after all, you just have to look to the movie soundtracks he composed and you'll be mesmerized. He must really be exhausted. You'd be fine Matt.

XP Crashes after recent updates
Von Paulus replied to Cameljockey's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Cameljokey, in the last 24 hours, I freshly installed 3 XP's in 3 customer's machines, with all the updates, and as far as I know, nobody complained. But I'll be alert. Thanks. -
This composition is used usually in the chief of states funerals and eulogies and also in WWII remembrances ceremonies (no, this wasn't a Spielberg idea). Couldn't agree more. Probably, like in many other movies, I'd enjoy more the soundtrack than the movie, which with Peter Jackson as a director of a WWI's movie, it could really happen.

"Better" graphics card, worse performance?

Shadows is in cfs3config and Ground Density is in the workshop. -

Von Paulus replied to 528646's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
Probably you'll be able to push a little more those sliders. Disable shadows and set the Ground density to low and it will give you a little more fps. As uncleal says, in the clouds slider, choose the value 1. -
Yes Bullethead is one of the missing old chaps here. He's also a game developer. So probably is busy in making Jutland better.

You should hear the choral version. It's even more eerie. The choral version is called and was transcribed by the composer, Samuel Barber, much later.By the way, Olham, it was only composed late in the thirties, so it wasn't played in the MvR's funeral. Matt Milne composed the main title for OFF, and even if it's not an "Adagio for Strings", has its own merits; in IMHO it perfectly portrays the spirit of Over Flanders Field. And that is an artistic achievement.

Install Order: 1. If you have older CFS3 CDs, assume that they are version 3.0. If so, install CFS3, and patch it to 3.1 (obtain patch here: http://www.microsoft.../downloads.aspx). Then run the game briefly. Note: Many newer CFS3 CDs (e.g., bargain version recently offered by Best Buy) are already 3.1. If you own one of these, you DO NOT have to install CFS3 first, but need to have the CDs ready when you install BHAH. 2. Install BHaH from DVD. Insert CFS3 CDs when asked (if using CFS3 v3.1). Note: BHaH is only available on DVD, no downloads. 3. Download and install BHaH SuperPatch v1.32, followed by MiniPatch v1.32g (found here: http://www.overfland...wnloadsBH&H.htm) 4. Download and install HiTR (purchase info here: http://www.overfland....com/Addon1.htm) Note: available only by download. 5. Download and install HiTR MiniPatch v1.47 (available here: http://www.overfland...m/Downloads.htm) After you install as per out lined, you should set up as per the FAQ http://www.overfland...on_and_settings And of course the video card http://www.overfland...ds.com/Tips.htm Answers to most Newbie questions are featured in OFF Tips & Cheats STICKY in the Knowledge Base This Simulation has rather steep learning curve If you can't find an answer in one of the many Stickies It's sure as heck going to be in the official FAQ http://www.overfland...lds.com/FAQ.htm Everything is written down Somewhere If you have what you think is a screwy question, ask it The only stupid question, is the one that's never asked Copyright Uncleal

"Better" graphics card, worse performance?

I've seen only once, and it was some years ago, a desktop Sony Vaio. As far as I remember with that model, it was possible to squeeze a standard PSU inside the case. The suggestion given by Parky is a good one.
