TrackIR - Image tearing at monitor edges

Force Vsynch ON (vertical Synch) in your graphic card driver. Both ATI and Nvidia have that option. -
"Better" graphics card, worse performance?
Von Paulus replied to 528646's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
But Parky, his major problem is lack of power, not the adapter. With a 300v's PSU and a single 12V 17Amp for everything, I think it's too short for a new card. Don't you agree? The problem is that they conceived that rig only to work with those components; they didn't have any future upgrades in mind. That's the problem when people buy brand computers. Upgrading is always more difficult. -
tofke, follow the FAQ and it'll be OK for 99% of the cases. http://www.overflandersfields.com/Tips.htm

"Better" graphics card, worse performance?

I really don't know what's the power consumption of that card. But it's a good alternative to your 9600XT and would be a good improve. But you're on the edge with that PSU. -

If the rest is standard you could also think of buying a new PC case with a PSU. I'm sure next time you buy a new computer you'll think to assemble one yourself to avoid this kind of things. -

With that power I beginning to doubt that will even run the 7600GS. But I suppose that the ATI is out of the question. 17A is not bad but it might be too short. No chance to change the PSU? -

The difference between 9600XT and the 4650 is around 25w. While the 7600GS is more or less the same as 8600XT, probably more 5/10w. Can't you be more specific about the psw? About the total w and amp value in the +12V? It's written in the PSU's label. Maybe you can take a photo. About the processor, at least in terms of clock speed it's ok. I think you'll notice a difference even if you take the weakest card. But if you've enough power I'd think twice about the ATI. -

I've to disagree with you on that, uncleal. That's the 24fps myth. http://www.cookieofdoom.com/2009/07/01/busting-framerate-myths/ http://whisper.ausgamers.com/wiki/index.php/How_many_FPS_human_eye_can_see http://amo.net/NT/02-21-01FPS.html http://amo.net/nt/05-24-01FPS.html About the card... The ATI that Parky showed, in my opinion, is better than the Nvidia. More powerful and I'm sure it will work well with OFF. Like Parky said that card will blow away the 9600XT (I had one for a couple of years). But the problem here might be another, that card might be too much powerful for your CPU. This means that you will not fully use it's capabilities if your CPU cap the system. It might be true that your system is now caped by graphic card, but going to a better card like that ATI and Nvidia the cap factor will be your CPU, I'm pretty sure about that. So with that in mind, it might also be a good choice to go the Nvidia that uncleal showed because it's cheaper. But before buying why not tell us your system specs? CPU, Memory, power supply characteristics? -

World War One in Colour - "Blood in the Air"

There aren't common, but there exists, probably more in private archives than spread in the Internet. This a site that have a few WWI color photographs. I remembered also to have seen some great material in several BBC documentaries about the photographs taken by Albert Khan around the beginning of the century. There a some from WWI. http://www.albertkahn.co.uk/index.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rdiC45HeD0&feature=related The photographs taken did not using a color film, but used another technique with lumpy potatoe. These autochromes are really fantastic. They are a real window to another "time". http://users.telenet.be/thomasweynants/autochromes.html http://www.smithsonianmag.com/arts-culture/autochromes.html -
Yes, I've read that X-Fi are better, and people tend to have less problems due to drivers issue. But with Audigy things are worst. Not that I did many problems with my Audigy 2, one or two games with CTD and the emu10k1 infamous BSOD.
-
Sure Morris. But I cannot justify the 60€/70€ that I would spent with a dedicated card, specially when I hear everything through headphones. Besides the onboard sound quality is not so bad nowadays.
-
Eheheh. That's what I call bad reputation. Because of that I took out my Audigy since I last changed motherboard, and been living with the onboard one.

Yes, but what is the model of your ATI card? -

Welcome. I agree that you should at least have the same performance. But could you tell us what model was your ATI graphic card? Just in case... I suppose you've run the cfs3config after the upgrade in OFF, because you stated that you tried some of the FAQ's tweaks for Nvidia, right? Do you only play OFF? After the upgrade do you notice any performance change in your machine? The first thing you should diagnose is try to see if that's a problem with your machine or with OFF. I suppose you still have your old graphic card. Even if you don't have any other game I'd suggest to benchmark your system with a program like 3DMARK06 with your original card and then with the new one. Unless someone remembers something, that must be very obvious, than you should consider my suggestion. -
There are two things that make me strange, to say the least, at my fellows human eyes. I don't like chocolate and I was never a SW fan. As for the chocolate thing one may come to understand and accept it. But for the SW thing it's really hard even for me. I've the right age for it, all my friends liked it, like reading SF, I'm a male...... this must be the greatest mystery of my life. Oh well, may the force be with you.

Wishing good for you and your mother Siggi.

Better to get used...

Sorry tofke this is just turning off topic, but.... Ok Olham, for your motherboard you've EasyTune 5 from Gigabyte. I only know how to work with 6, which is more automatic than 5. If you want to mess with it better read a few things. Google for EasyTune 5 (not 6) and download the last version from Gigabyte site. You can expect to OC 10% or 15% with it. EDIT: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/FileList/NewTech/old_motherboard_newtech/Tech_20041125_PX_ET5.htm

Are you getting new ideas, Olham? Unless you've a recent motherboard, which may brings software to help the newbies (like me) to overclock their systems with one touch, the "art" of overclocking is a technical one and not for the average user. You really need to know what you're doing. It's not difficult, but demands some knowledge. uncleal, not every overclock system need water cooling. EDIT: I've OC my system from 2.66 to 3. My final step will be 3.2Ghz, and I'll rest there. The only thing I've different is when I bought my system I also took a better CPU cooler (around 25€). One thing for sure, it's much more easier to OC the recent systems than the older ones.

Insurance companies seem sometimes to live in a different world then ours. They're always, in any part of the world, trying to cheat you. That must be their first, second and the third rule.
-
I understand. However there are people complaining with the last 10.4 catalyst drivers and TrackIR 5.
-
ATI graphic card? I suppose you've tried plugging in a different USB port.

In the compatibility tab of the exe file check Run as Administrator, and if it doesn't work set also different compatibility modes, starting with XP SP3.

Internet and a downloadable tool. I guess I'll have to mess with it.
