  1. Windows 7

    Have you run cfs3config.exe?
  2. Welcome, This is almost a joke. I imagine how frustrating it is. I suppose you've already tried away from your network? I'd say, it must be something locally, regionally. It doesn't make sense. I hope sincerely that the devs/publishers can help you.
  3. Program Priority Command Line?

Important to know what OFF process uses in terms of core percentage, clock speed, multiplier. But if you download Everest trial version it will log in a html file, everything that you'd like to monitor.
  4. Program Priority Command Line?

It might be accurate. Can it give the values for each core? That's only CPU, right?
  5. A Specific Tweaking Question

Let's hear what Tamper says, but zz, RAID and SSD are not related. You can create a RAID array with 2 PATA or SATA HDs as long you have a RAID controller. Most motherboards, nowadays, bring already an onboard controller that permits it. Look into your motherboard manual. Understand one thing, there are no hardware tricks that perform true miracles. In order to have xxfps you've to have the right computer with the right components to do it. I mean CPU, memory, Graphic card and HD. If you've a good CPU but have a low GPU (graphic card), in the end, you'll not use the full potential of your CPU. These rule applies to each component. Everything must be balanced. First of all you have to identify, if any, your computer bottlenecks. So... yous specs, please.
  6. A Specific Tweaking Question

Thanks Winder for your insight. I agree fully with every single line written by Tamper in this thread. Through all this years, I've witnessed the "evolution" of this industry. One thing I can say for sure; it isn't always the quicker technology that wins, but what it is cheaper to manufacturer, and what has the best marketing. And this may be the case, or not, of RAMDISK. Besides, in the world of big business, a lot of things happens behind the "curtains". Best technology it's not a synonymous of best profit.
  7. So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish

Sure. Still we need a Dorothy. Any volunteers?
  8. Program Priority Command Line?

Eheheh. What you're trying to do with your new rig is right. Test, push and squeeze. Have you any application to monitor and log CPU clock, cores, temp, memory timing, used, Video memory card usage, etc, while you're playing? You should, just to see if everything is running well and above all when you need it. I use Everest Ultimate edition. It works pretty well.
  9. So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish

    Until then, friend.
  10. Program Priority Command Line?

Heist, C-functions, these are normal in Intel. With AMD cpu's I don't know which you should look for. If you like tweaks, you can take a look at Blackviper's site. But honestly I don't think it will change much with your rig. The only thing that could really make a difference, IMHO, is a SSD disk and in your case a "decent" graphic card.
  11. Program Priority Command Line?

Also try to disable CPU green functions in BIOS and see if it makes any difference.
  12. A Specific Tweaking Question

I'd go to a SSD drive. But 80 bucks it's too short. I'd benchmark the HD first and try to see if there is so much lack of performance that could justify to buy another "regular" HD. You can use HDTach or HD Tune pro. EDIT: But could you tell your specs? Specially the CPU.
  13. Program Priority Command Line?

You can also disable the HD indexing in Windows 7. You've 4GB?, right? If not, I'd also try disabling the superfetch.
  14. Program Priority Command Line?

Sorry but I don't know any command line that do that. But you can try Process Lasso.
  15. So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish

No way m8. It's not as easy as you put it. This is a small community. Every single member is special and cannot be replaced. At least this is the way I feel. I hope that you'll come back soon. Good-bye until then.
  16. So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish

Indeed, why Lou? You're gonna be missed.
  17. Well I really don't now. These reminds me the silly polemic about toy guns, and how we shouldn't give to the kids those kind of things. I agree that things today seems to be more... unbalanced, but... I really don't know if we aren't overreacting. About the control of guns, that's another matter, and while I understand the "Home of the Brave" concept, I think that the access to the guns should be controlled. But that's another matter and it's an US problem. Most north western countries have restrict policies about the use and the access to the guns. That seems to be the right way.
  18. That leads us to a side question; what is the nature of war? Is it political? Cultural? If it is cultural, than we hardly will avoid it and with it. What about violence? Is there more than one nature?
  19. I think we'll never know for sure. Probably violent people will play video games. But I too don't believe that's can be a main cause for more violent behavior.
  20. Yes indeed. There weren't a lot of safety precautions and regulations like there are today. But still I wonder how these things can be forgotten and let to rotten for themselves. I bet they didn't even write a report or anything.
  21. Windows ReadyBoost

Unfortunately I've only slow USB flashdrive. But my motherboard is already USB3, maybe I'll try with USB3 flashdrive, when they arrive.
  22. Windows ReadyBoost

Maybe with USB3. But even tough I doubt. SSD and SATA3 is the way. 12oclockhigh, I hope you don't get me wrong, but the smoothness you see couldn't be just a placebo effect?
  23. I agree with you ZZ and rabu. Besides there's also an aspect, which Catch has called of Desensitization, that is worring me a little. This side effect it's not exclusive from video games, but TV news, and thinking well, all industry of entertainment is helping in growing it. This industry is gradually loosing a certain purpose and sense of "education" besides being only "pure entertainment". I wonder how a movie, a masterpiece, like "The Searchers" from John Ford, how would it be remade today. EDIT: OvS, 3 mame machines that's really great. Defender and Robotron...
  24. We should probably distinguish gore from violence. I'm ready to accept a certain level of violence, otherwise I wouldn't play OFF, any other combat sim or milsim. What I dislike is extreme gore. For example when I played CoD World at War, the action takes place in WWII Pacific theater, the gore was excessive. And I almost stop playing it, because of that. Flame throwers, Japanese heads jumping after a clean shot from a shotgun, well I really don't need that. I think I won't play any CoD anymore. There most be a limit, and I really don't understand how some kids, and not only kids, can actually have fun with it. Something is wrong.
  25. Which Time period do you fly?

I'm a kind of WWI buff, so my choice is WWI era.
