Good night everyone - everywhere on earth - Way way way off topic
Von Paulus replied to Olham's topic in The Pub
Yes I agree they are a part of the problem also. Yes it's a divise topic and specially come in a hot moment for Americans and Europeans. I too will sign off, I don't want to cause any "enemies", at least not in here, in the OFF community. Good luck with your rig. I'd only advise you not to max out at the beginning. (it sounds like uncleal). I'd rather go more slowly. -
Yet another can my rig run it question
Von Paulus replied to Springroll's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
What Barkhorn1x said it's 100% correct. The fact of having a core running at 3.4 Ghz helps a lot. Now I've a quadcore I5-750 @2.7Ghz, and while my last CPU was just a core2duo E8500 @ 3.18Ghz, the later one had better performance with OFF. I'll have to OC it and probably try one CPU affinity tool to have the same performance I had. But with 3.4Ghz I think it will be ok. -

I wonder why then the welfare state works relatively well in the Nordic countries. Are they aliens, out of this planet? I speak about my country, which is the reality that I know. And I can tell you. Both the liberal and the conservative agendas, right and left parties, are completely emptied of ideas. The system is on the verge of collapse not because of the welfare state but because of the greed of the big financiers, and corrupted politicians. They manipulate the law and the judicial power. There is a sense of injustice everywhere It's not the welfare state but it's the wild capitalism without rules, without supervision, which is destroying and corrupting everything. I've a small business and I'm being strangled by the big ones until the point there is no way for surviving. I cannot compete. I innovate and on the next day they use my idea and they use it and kill my chance. So how can free enterprise survive? The problem is more serious because I'd distribute my richness locally. What they do with the money they earn? They use the money in some obscure operation, somewhere in a fiscal paradise, or wherever but not locally. So basically they are killing the free enterprise and the distribution of wealth. Globalization is the root of the problem not welfare state. -

By the way uncleal, in Europe it's not so much the liberal mindset but more the greedy neo-conservative mindset that is only thinking how to take full power and kill all our individual rights. -

I canceled my Time Magazine subscription last year. I don't read or see any news anymore. It's just too depressing and most of the times it's not even objective. My country is livingh in a economic crisis since 2002, since our President of European Comission, Mr. Durão Barroso, was elected prime minister. He run away after two years because he was more attracted to the position offered by European Community and mainly because he was just incompetent, as like most politicians are, to solve anything besides which tie should he wear in the morning. 8 years of crisis. After Greece it will be Portugal that will hit the bankruptcy button. Here, there is no light at the end of the tunnel. I sleep well, so far... only sometimes I wake and have a panic attack. Anxiety. I don't think anymore about tomorrow. No more plans. I usually say to myself that the future doesn't exist. I've that famous picture in my head, in which an allied soldier will be beheaded by a Japanese executioner, when I say that. Good night and sleep well. I will, listening at the sound of Bach's Goldberg Variations. -
Sim keeps freezing - what could it be?

With windows 7 you've to change the compatibility mode in both files "offmanager.exe" and "cfs3.exe". These files are located in the main OFF folder. Once you've selected the file, left click on Properties, Compatibility, set it to Run as Administrator, for each file. As for the patches, here is a guide written by uncleal one of our dearest community members, a sort of OFF Comunity PR. Install Order: 1. If you have older CFS3 CDs, assume that they are version 3.0. If so, install CFS3, and patch it to 3.1 (obtain patch here: http://www.microsoft.../downloads.aspx). Then run the game briefly. Note: Many newer CFS3 CDs (e.g., bargain version recently offered by Best Buy) are already 3.1. If you own one of these, you DO NOT have to install CFS3 first, but need to have the CDs ready when you install BHAH. 2. Install BHaH from DVD. Insert CFS3 CDs when asked (if using CFS3 v3.1). Note: BHaH is only available on DVD, no downloads. 3. Download and install BHaH SuperPatch v1.32, followed by MiniPatch v1.32g (found here: http://www.overfland...wnloadsBH&H.htm) 4. Download and install HiTR (purchase info here: http://www.overfland....com/Addon1.htm) Note: available only by download. 5. Download and install HiTR MiniPatch v1.47 (available here: http://www.overfland...m/Downloads.htm) After you install as per out lined, you should set up as per the FAQ http://www.overfland...on_and_settings And of course the video card http://www.overfland...ds.com/Tips.htm Answers to most Newbie questions are featured in OFF Tips & Cheats STICKY in the Knowledge Base This Simulation has rather steep learning curve If you can't find an answer in one of the many Stickies It's sure as heck going to be in the official FAQ http://www.overfland...lds.com/FAQ.htm Everything is written down Somewhere If you have what you think is a screwy question, ask it The only stupid question, is the one that's never asked Just a word to the wise, even with all the bells and whistles. Concerning power, this calculator is very handy. http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculator.jsp

appraiserfl, that problem is reported so many times with dual GPU as well with crossfire. I've read that it happen with a lot of different games. If you want less problems than choose a single card. The only problem is with super uber resolutions might not be enough.

There are several Kingston SSD models. The old ones seem to have problems concerned with performance. That's why they are being sold relatively cheap. EDIT: I'm not sure, but I think the best is the V+ model.

I agree with you Tamper. The great bottleneck in most systems nowadays is the HD. Don't have any doubts about that. Tough I'm not sure if that's the reason why kondor seems to not getting the full potential from his notebook

Eheheh. I could make a poster of this and hanged it in my shop. But I would have to translate that to Portuguese. Something would be lost in the translation.

Nice site Olham. Thanks for sharing. -
Probably this week or next week Final 10.3. ATI launches every month a new set of drivers, so it's no surprise.

Free ATI 4870 512 Graphics Card
Von Paulus replied to BirdDogICT's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Very generous BirdDog. A good graphic card people. -
That's seems to be a new scheme. It might work with some people, specially elderly. Thanks for the warning, in a month, I'm sure that this will be on in Portugal also.

I know that guide. It's the best guide for ATI. That's also my objective since I installed OFF. I'm coming to conclusion that I cannot improve much more. I'm assembling a new CPU (I5-750), new memory (DDR3 Gskill 1600 CL7), new mobo (for the first time in my life a Gigabyte). I'm curious if there will be an improve with the same settings I used with the other CPU E8500 @3.18Ghz. We'll see. Thanks for your feedback. It's a seperate utility from Rivatuner. BirdDog said that he knows a unbundled version, but the link he provided is not correct. If you want you can always install rivatuner, copy out the tool to another dir/folder and then uninstall rivatuner. I didn't uninstall rivatuner because I use it to monitor CPU, memory, etc, while playing some times. Rivatuner is a utility created for Nvida cards to configure and OC. It works also with most of ATI cards, except 4850, 4870, 4890, and all 5xxx. But there is a workaround for those cards. But if you just want to use D3Doverrider you can use it without using rivatuner. -
Thanks. That's an impressive number.

Index Buffer Pool - leave as is - should be set to Default. It's what it says in FAQ. BirdDog you seem to know a lot about those settings. Can you tell what is yours, and what is your rig, please? -
EDIT: Can anybody tell me the number of MIA in Vietnam war?

I really don't know what it does because I've always used it disabled. Probably it won't affect much the performance. I was just pinpointing it, Olham, nothing more. -

Disable Terrains Texture Ring Blend Index Buffer Pool : D3DPOOL-DEFAULT Fullscreen Swap Effect: D3DSWAPEFFECT_FLIP And in my case disabling shadows give some good FPS improvement. EDIT: And also using in Catalyst Control Center or ATI Tray Tools, AI Catalyst in HIGH mode. -

You're settings are different from the FAQ, Olham. -

Von Paulus replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
BirdDog I was referring to the softpedia one. But if you want to try you should download the last one from here or from softpedia. It has a lot more options than CCC. And one of them is Direct3D triple Buffering. But I prefer the implementation of D3Doverrider, because at least I know it's running. As for the Rivatuner I like to use it also for monitoring the CPU, memory and graphic card. Very useful. The ATITool is very old. I used it a long time ago with a Nvidia card, I just don't remember for what reason.
