  1. Actually if you use ATT tools instead CCC there is also the possibility to force Triple Buffering. But with D3DOverrider at least your hear the a sound that is active when you launch a Direct3D application. I use it always, I think it turns OFF slightly smoother. But that may vary.
  2. Two ways: In the workshop you've an option called Graphics Config. The other way is running cfs3config.exe inside OFF installation folder.
  3. Of interest to some

It's a pity to have to pay.
  4. Dual Core or Quad Core?

    The last ones....
  5. Not my fault; I'm 100% sure they were shorted already. That's why the rig wouldn't power on even after replacing PSU. So I disconnect all the four and connect one by one. Number one... smoke. Switch off. Number two... more smoke. Switch off. Number three... No smoke, but the rig would startup but would instantaneously powered off. At this point, the client was in a catatonic state. He wasn't sound very coherently. But I understood him enough to know that the backups were on the fourth. So I breath deep, like I do in these situations, ask for the force to be with me, and powered on. And guess what? The fourth was ok. Lucky guy. Just for looking at the guy, I understood that he reached the third level of Nirvana. For me it's ok. I just love the smell of napalm, sorry meant fried disks, in the morning. (joking)
  6. What could be worst than 1 fried hardisk? One client just brought me his rig because the damn machine wouldn't startup. This rig has 4 hardisks.... So what can be worst than 1 fried hardisk? 3 fried hardisks. There's a nice burning smell in my shop.
  7. It was usual for people (junkies) to come to my shop and ask if I had any old broken Hardisks that I could spare. I thought it was strange why did they wanted that. One day I asked one fellow technician if he knew the reason for that. An he explained me that they just wanted the Hardisks to take out the magnets. It seems that these magnets would disable the alarms in the clothes so they could steal them. I'm not suggesting anythingl, Lou.
  8. Flags of Our Fathers / Letter from Iwo Jima...

That's true "Yamato" is a fine war movie that portrays a part of the history of the war through the Japanese eyes, but in terms of pure cinematography, including argument, edit, etc, it's miles a way from "The letters From Iwo Jima".
  9. FM upload - FE1 and FE2

    Thanks peter
  10. Flags of Our Fathers / Letter from Iwo Jima...

IMHO "Das Boot" is the best underwater war movie ever. Dambusters I've never saw it, but I have a copy. You've inspired me I'll watch it tonight. Thanks Slartibartfast.
  11. Flags of Our Fathers / Letter from Iwo Jima...

Actually I don't like so much Saving Private Ryan. OK, the first 20 minutes are breatlhless. But that's it. I know that this may sound like an heresy for some, but I prefer 1 million times Apocalypse Now or The Thin Red Line.
  12. Best Sci-Fi movie ever

Any Japanese Gamera film beat that. Look at Gamera vs. Viras for example.
  13. Look at this Olham. But it is a little more technical. If you don't have any motherboard tools, I wouldn't advise to do it.
  14. I'm thinking in acquiring one. I'd like to know how good does it run with OFF. Thanks.
  15. Does anybody has a Intel I5-750 CPU?

Well the problem is that I have a E8500 running @stock 3.18Ghz, that's not bad for OFF, but it's becoming problematic with some of the other games that I play. I've a gold opportunity to sell both the processor and memory for a very good price. I'd have only to buy a new motherboard. The I5-750 maybe it's the best processor for money. Only it runs @2.66 Ghz. And that's the point with OFF. I do know that Intel turbo boost technology can make the processor run @3.2Ghz. That's what I would like to hear about. How effective is this "new" technology with OFF. To be honest I've already tried it for 5 minutes in gaming computer I sold with that processor, and didn't notice any difference with mine. But that's only a 5 minute overview. I know I can still overclock it, but I've never overclocked my processors. In the past there were too much bad side effects. I know things are better nowadays, but... As for the hyperthreading, I still hear people complaining that when hyperthreading is active some games are slower. So... There other solutions, for example the new I5-660 that runs @3.33Ghz and with turbo boost can go until 3.66Ghz. But it doesn't have real 4 cores; it has only 2 cores plus 2 hyperthreading cores. If I only played OFF that would be my choice. I could go to the I7 processors, but in that case it would cost me more than only the motherboard, and like Tom's Hardware, it's past the point of reason to buy a processor that cost more than $200. I've 4 days to decide.
  16. Does the Hardisk is still in warranty? If it is you can RMA it. It won't bring you the data, but you'll have a new/refurbish HD. If that's not the case, than the suggestion give by JimAttrill is a good one. Those magnets can be very useful.
  17. jedi Knight

How wonderful it is, that after 33 years, Star Wars can still bring out the best in ourselves.
  18. Flags of Our Fathers / Letter from Iwo Jima...

The old man knows how to make movies. I prefer the "Letters of Iwo Jima " to the "Flags of our Fathers". But both are really great. I've the 4-Disc Collector's Edition, filled with "Making of" and other special features besides the movies. A worthwhile DVD.
  19. If it's not recognized in BIOS it means: - the cables have a problem - motherboard IDE controller has a problem or (99% of the cases) the electronic part of the HD fried.
  20. "Emperor of Madeira" is out...

You can always send a copy to Alberto João. I'm sure he will love it.
  21. Yesterday I configured a Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals and the elevators were all mixed up with my T.16000m. I follow this step by step guide by Check Six and now everything is working. http://forum.combatace.com/topic/44446-got-my-ch-pedals-flying-is-tougher-more-immersive/page__p__316664entry316664
  22. Sorry to hear that Lou. I like both brands Seagate and Western. But usually I tend to use more Western than Seagate. Those two are the more reliable hardisk brands that exist in the last 10 years. If the HD is not recognized in the BIOS setup, than I'm afraid that only the labs can recover. Depending in the damage degree they can recover data. They have wonderful forensic tools. But it's very, very expensive. It has to be really worthwhile. If it is recognized in the bios than the matter can be different... there are some tools that can help in that case. If that's the case you can always PM me Lou.
  23. "Emperor of Madeira" is out...

Sounds good. But you know there is already someone who acts and rules like an emperor in Madeira. His name is Alberto João Jardim and he is the president of the Madeira's regional government since 1978.
  24. This is not overclocking. You're only changing the priority that process will run. The only danger that might happen is one (or more) system process might not liked and you'll have a crash. You won't damage physically anything, only some files might be corrupted. Probably you'll have no problem. This really depends with what software you're running, OS, services, etc. So the results may vary.
  25. Installing New Drivers, Need Advice

Use Driver Sweep. Don't have to backup anything as far as OFF is concerned.
