Some say that in a certain way Canada was forged there.

Yes. The AI should have more evasive and fighting tactics. But to be honest I don't know much about how was that aspect in WWI air combat. I complete understand the reasons pointed by the devs, but one fact remains. CFS3 is a stigma, that OFF brings with him. Whenever I speak to people that exists another WWI combat flight sim besides RoF, that has a real SP dynamic campaign, that has no online requirement, that has several planes at the player disposal in four sides, that it is really immersive and true in terms of historical content people in general get excited. But the next moment I referred that OFF uses the CFS3 engine, they just shutdown their brains and erase the last 5 minutes of talking with me about OFF. I get angry and frustated; it's really hard to change prejudices. I think OBD and OFF deserves more. There's is one way out. It's to keep supporting OBD efforts, and maybe one day, who knows....

Now it's me who have done a bad job in explaining... I understood perfectly SD. I confess have never tried to change the settings a lot from what are displayed in the FAQ. But you're experiments in fiddling with the settings, due to bad performance, have somehow inspired me to try also to change some settings. Why not share in this thread our common findings? For me OFF has never performed 100% near what I would like; that might be a myth, an El Dorado, an impossibility, but I'd really like to improve things if possible. So once in a while I do my own experiments. If I find something that induces a better performance I'll report back here. We can exchange ideas, can't we? Is there any documentation regarding the configuration of CFS3? I didn't found so far, I doubt that exists.

SD I tried your settings and in my case the game turns less smoother that with the FAQ settings. I'll try to fiddle with the settings in the next couple of days and if I reach any conclusion I'll post here.

This is probably related with the last posts Sieben made. I can understand, but isn't it to drastic? And above all shouldn't Sieben explain why? Like in any other place else there are people with different opinions about politics, sports, philosofies, life in general.......

Why Sieben? Were you offended?

I've a similar system. I suppose I could try your settings later. My settings are 43343 and the rest is the same overides stated by the faq and the shadow disabled. I use low density in the terrain setting in WS. I've 2x AA, AF 4X and AI set to High, and all the other settings set to performance. I usualy get 45 to 60 on the ground. At certain cities and with AI planes it can drop to 30. What I didn't understand was the part related to CCC (I use ATT Tools). What AI you use, what AA and AF? Do you have any particular map where you do all your tests? I've the same CPU running at stock speed and an ATI 4890.

Added Another Old Book to My WWI Aviation Library

WWI it's also my main focus. But I still pursue in a relative lighten way from 1848 up to 20th century aftermath. -
Ok RAF! I see the pattern. I'm not worried anymore.

You've a great collection, RAF. Are you attracted to WWI in general or just WWI air war? And since when? -
Eheheh! It seems RAF, that you've an attraction for pink planes. Could it be a middle age crisis?

Some good WW1 Aircraft pics on video

Thanks for sharing. -
Yes! I too bought Trackir 4 and use software version 5. Trackir 5 is slightly better but I couldn't justify the extra when I bought it. And I'm no sorry for the choice.

I mostly sell and use Asus motherboards, mainly because it's a brand that I trust for more than 12 years. Good and bad models every brand has. So it's natural that once in a while I go to their forums to trobleshoot my customers problems. If you see only one complaining with a similar problem that doesn't mean it's characteristic of that model. Only it happens. So that doesn't mean a thing. That particular model was probably a rather successful in terms of selling; so I don't think you or the shop has made a bad choice. If you're going to buy a new one on the same shop then I only advise you to test it with your CPU and CPU-Z before buying and bringing home. Then, I'm sure, you'll see OFF "fly" with that processor. Please keep us informed.

Great RAF. It sounds interesting. -
Exactly. Couldn't say better. There is no learning curve with the software version 5. I just plug it and choose a smooth profile for Combat Flight Simulator 3 and nothing more. Didn't had the need to adjust any parameter. Do yourself a favor. Buy it or use Freetrack.

Yes try also the power options suggested by Herr, but I doubt that will change anything. You've a problem with your motherboard. Like I've told you before, there was at least one person who had the same complaining with the same motherboard model. I honestly don't know what you can do more... Let them see at the computer shop, but if they don't give you a solution, than ask for a RMA.
-
IMHO you can try one last thing. Find the CLRCMOS jumper in the motherboard to clear the BIOS or take the battery out and wait for a few minuts. If you use the jumper, which is the best option, move the jumper to the other position and then move it back. Do all this with the computer completely power off. Then just set time, HD and don't change anything related with CPU. Go to windows and start CPU-Z and orthos. If didn't change anything, try again to disable AMD Cool and Quiet and C1 from BIOS. And try again orthos and CPU-Z. If doesn't change then you've a problem with that motherboard and that CPU. CPU-Z, as far as I know, gathered those values directly from the CPU and the motherboard. What you mean by CPU instructions? Besides you've also HWmonitor that reads directly from the motherboard sensors. EDIT: Know I saw what you mean by instructions. It's the set of instructions your processor accepts. They are always creating new technologies. For example if you want to now if your processor is MMX compatible that it must display that information in the Instructions field in CPU-Z.

Jutland, a naval wargame from Storm Eagles Studio, where one of the developers is one of our more prolific community members, is on sale. I've tried the demo before and thought it was interesting. I like to try everything related with WWI. And with the sale on it was just inevitable.
-
Like Hasse Wind said it's easy to play but not easy to master. Try the demo Olham. This is not a competitor to OFF. It's good to play once in a while. At least with me that's the way it happens.
-
Look at these values: Crazy bastards. I bet that this processor will not last long. Probably less than the first Wright Brothers flight.
-
It's easy to know if AMD Cool n Quiet or any other green function is activate or not. Just use a stress program while you're with cpu-z open and see if the clock rises or not. If it rises than definitely there's a green function on. If it doesn't than the motherboard has a problem. If the clock rises with the stress program that doesn't mean that it also rises with OFF. But if it doesn't rise with orthos or prime95 than you'll need to RMA the board. 12oclock, you can always try to contact Asus and ask for a RMA for that motherboard. You don't need the computer shop, as far as I know, to ask for a RMA. But first be sure to fundament your request at Asus. Yes I know Herr, that it seems there is a green function on. But I couldn't find anything more besides AMD Cool n Quiet and C1 setting in the manual. But maybe you find something that I didn't. Better two heads thinking than just one. Thanks.

nHancer Utility For Nvidia Card Users,

You might have a folder called Nvidia in your primary HD with all the versions you've downloaded and installed. I'm not 100% sure because, I don't have a Nvidia since a year and my memory isn't the same has a couple years ago. That folder is created when you run Nvidia installation drivers, for decompress them.
