I think your core speed is too low at 802.7Mhz. The multiplier is 4x200 which is not the right value. Look at the result of an equal CPU: http://www.legitrevi.../article/980/1/ You should be running at 3200Mhz; the multiplier should be 16 and not 4. Like I've told you I'm not an expert, but this can happen for three reasons: First your motherboard is not recognizing correctly the CPU. Maybe a motherboard BIOS version older than the CPU. Usually a BIOS update solve this things. Check last BIOS version in ASUS site and if your is older please consider to update it. Secondly your motherboard might be badly configured for the CPU you have. I'll try to look tomorrow at the your motherboard manual and try to look for BIOS configurations that might induce the wrong value. Thirdly, the Green Functions of your motherboard. I'm much more experienced with Intel than AMD, but I bet that BIOS has some green functions for controlling the CPU speed. The green when activated will slow the multiplier in order to not consume much energy. We know that sometimes some applications (games too) simply don't like these green functions activated; the result is that the multiplier is not "pushed" to the correct value. This only happens sometimes, and is dependent of BIOS, chipset version and software combination. I believe this is a technology that is still in development, so it's still not full proof. If that's the case you've to disable all Green CPU functions in BIOS. I bet we we'll see a different core speed in your older CPU. EDIT: Stupid of me! I didn't read the full article at the link I provided. Now I'm almost sure that I know what the problem is; you have enabled AMD Cool'n'Quiet. Your problem is what I referred in the third reason. Green functions. http://www.amd.com/u...ol-n-quiet.aspx

If it wasn't too much to ask, could you do the same to your older rig? I'm not sure if I'll able to examine both tonight, but tomorrow I'll do it. You see I think your problem is CPU related. I'm no expert but I'm used to do some troubleshooting due my profession.

Could you install CPU-Z, http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php , and run it and post here the cu-z txt report?

Flying for the other side.
Von Paulus replied to Flyby PC's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I usually prefer to fly by the British side because I read too much "Batller Briton" and too much "Dogfight Dixon" when I was a kid. No prejudice here. Like Olham said, when someone read "Storm of Steel" by Ernest Jünger or any account written by the "other side" all we'll see, is the same humanity that we see in "our side". War brings the best and the worst in human kind. -

As soon as you try the Dual boot tell us the results, please. I'm also curious.

setting up dual booting on windows 7
Von Paulus replied to Morris's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
The link provided by rscsjsuso5 is really a good tutorial. I'd advise you to have 2 HD at least. One for XP and another for Win7. But you can do it with 1 HD and 2 partitions. -
Creaghorn, let me tell you that's not exclusive to mediterranean women. I had a German girlfriend and she was no better; in fact I was not plunged by a flying houseshoe but by flying pillows. Besides my wife is half Portuguese and half Austrian. It's a strange combination.

I definitely won't show this to my wife. She would answer with a special dialectic, saying what she does for me. Specifically to put up with me for 15 years.

Good video. Next time try without the messages and TAC on. Great choice of music. -
That's a great story Creaghorn. From time to time, it's impossible not to feel empathy towards our enemies in OFF.

Ideas for P4, ( although I'm sure you have enough)
Von Paulus replied to a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
That's what I basically want. Yes I agree that the claimform is nice and adds to immersion. Only I would like that the names who has witnessed would appear automatically. -
Ideas for P4, ( although I'm sure you have enough)
Von Paulus replied to a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
To be honest the only thing that I'd really to see changed is the claim system. I would like to have a simplified system in which I was not obliged to write down, before flying, the names and ranks. Besides I feel a little immersion killer to pause the game after hitting down an enemy and look around, turning labels on, to find out who could be my witnessed. -
Impressive.

You can install XP just for testing purpose. You've 30 days to activate. What we pretend to know is, if what is wrong is with your hardware or your software.
-
It's not easy to troubleshoot this. Undoubtedly your rig should perform better with OFF. We should try to devise if it's a hardware or software issue. Do you have an extra disk where you could install XP? You can also try to install the other graphic card you have and see if it's card related or not. I doubt that this will change anything, but we have to try everything to perceive why your rig is under-performing with OFF. There is no problem with OFF and AMD processors as far as I know. The same with 5870, I've already tried one with OFF. Concerning Win7, both 32 and 64 versions, still no problem. So it must be something local in your rig or a combination of factors. Sorry not to be much helpful, but I honestly don't find any reason why OFF doesn't perform well in your machine.

Oh!, they do. Only they have to do this kind of things to rest the simple minders. That reminds me the Winnenden's case in Germany, in which a young student shoot at his fellow students. Everybody was shocked how that was possible in a little town like Winneden. They discovered that the disturbed boy played video games, specially FPS (First Person Shooters), like most of youths. So they see here a reason for the disturbed behavior. What is the attitude of some German politicians? Lets ban this kind of games. It doesn't matter if it's a reason or not. But sound ... sane, and will rest the easy public mind.

Unknown WWI soldier buried in France
Von Paulus replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I won't say that pure Napoleonic tactics were used, but it's sure that only in the end of the war tactics were improved and were adapted to the new reality of the war. There was a learning period. Unfortunately that was heavily paid with blood. That's why the expression "Lions led by Donkeys". -
OT: Hardware question: Asus P5K with 2x 2Gb Ram ?
Von Paulus replied to Wels's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Download from Asus site the memory QVL (Qualified Vendor List) of your motherboard. If you've to buy memory always use qualified memory. You'll find QVL list at the support part of the site in the drivers section. Corsair are quicker than Kingston, but IMO Kingston are more reliable. Quantity is more important than speed. So as long you're using PC6400 no problem if you have a CL5 instead of CL4. If you decide to go for 2x2GB it still operates in dual channel. It's better to go for 2x2GB then 4x1GB. 32 bits systems don't address memory above 3GB, so you won't use all your GB. Will you notice a lot of difference in performance terms? Probably not, but it depends how much memory is your system consuming. 32bits applications AFAIK don't use more than 2GB; but your system uses some at startup, so you might have a marginal gain if you upgrade the memory. -
This new Intel's technology, that the new processors I5 and I7 brings, seems to be beneficial to software like OFF that still operates in single core. Does anybody has a rig with any of this processors? What's the feel with OFF? http://www.intel.com/technology/product/demos/turboboost/demo.htm?iid=tech_tb+demo

Intel Turbo Boost Technology and OFF
Von Paulus replied to Von Paulus's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thanks for your feedback VonGuber. This is usually a setting in the motherboard which might be enable or disable. But in your case, you're happy with the performance, then don't change anything.
