One of the reasons for sure.

It's a burned copy, right? Probably bad brand and/or bad burned (high speeds). Some times after a few months they aren't read anymore. Usually due to bad sealing. I only use Verbatim. +R are always first class media even when they don't came from Japan or Taiwan. http://www.digitalfaq.com/reviews/dvd-media.htm

... And disable shadows.

Thanks. Interesting.

If you uninstall it will reset the number of installations. I too don't like the DRM but that's not enough for stop me of buying. There' always a chance that after a year they remove the DRM. This is just a game to play it once in a while; I'll not dedicate 1/4 of the time I dedicate, and tend to continue, to OFF.

I've it. It's even much more eyecandy than ROF. The ground detail it's amazing. It's smooth, smooth and smooth. No stutterings. Graphics almost maxed on. It has some taste of arcade, but it isn't. It's a mix, but pending more to the side of simulator. IMHO. People who have BOP says that WOP is better. Still it's more than worthwhile for someone who his a eyecandy whore. The first time I played, I just thought, if OBD had such an engine at their disposal... I woudn't do anything else in my life. P.S. I hate the maps they are rather short. EDIT: Why not try the demo?

That "other WW1 flight sim"

Yes! It's the second best ever wargame. Quite fantastic. Almost as good as Panzer General. I smell Retro gamers here...... -

For me was Panzer General best ever wargame. I played Fokker E.III vs Airco DH 2. Great fun. So you think that the flying and the planes behaviour are exaggerated? And what is your opinion about the DM? Thanks -
Sure RAF I'll warn you here. I've already use ezydvd and I think it took more or less 2 weeks at the time to arrive. I've ordered from them because I had good references. But this is a larger parcel so it might stay in customs for a little more time. But because it's a low cost item maybe it will pass. Eheheh!

Nice picture waco. But this should be in the General Discussion thread.

Original WW1 letters from the trenches
Von Paulus replied to Creaghorn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I was and am just generalizing. I'm sure there are people interested in History in Europe (I'm not referring to European Union). We all are in this forum I'm sure. But what it seems is that there are less new books published and less people interested; from generation to generation it's getting worst. Great Britain due to a combination of factors, it seems to be an island in that matter. But I'm just generalizing. Glad to know if Finland is also an exception. You see all of this is related to the fact that people are loosing the habit of reading. It might not be only an European thing, but is affecting us deeply, I believe. -

Crazy world. Queer for me means: Deviating from the expected or normal, odd, eccentric. Maybe because English is not my native language I didn't understand UK_Widowmaker in other way than that. Maybe we should ban some words from the English dictionary because a lot of folks feel offended by. Maybe it's better to ban all the words so that there will be no risk to be misunderstood and hurt other peoples feelings. In the process let's burn some books also. (sigh) Sign of the times.... -

+1. Not the diary but here is a link for the manual. http://www.classicamiga.com/images/stories/jreviews/games/W/manuals/wings%5Bmanual%5D%5Bscan%5D.pdf -
Well said. In the end it's up to us. If we continue to support their effort, I'm sure, sooner or later, there will be a phase with a new engine. And by support I don't mean only buying, but also being a bit of PR and spreading in another game and simulator forums, the existence and the quality of OFF. There are a lot of Red Baron fans out there that still don't know the existence of OFF. Spread the good news.

I'm not sure if it's the same case. In your CMOS/BIOS what is the memory reported? Isn't is 4GB? Remove all RAM, and place the two new RAM sticks in the same place where was the original RAM. Boot machine, and take note of how much memory Windows report. It should be 2GB Than switch off and add one more RAM stick. Put it between the two other sticks. Enter BIOS and then Windows and check how much RAM is reported. Tell me. If it's 3GB, then switch off and add the last stick and boot again; check again both BIOS and Windows. Take note of all this values and report back here, please. Another test you might consider is if you've two graphic cards in SLI mode. If that's the case remove one and boot windows and see how much memory is Windows reporting. Other suggestions, you know already, are the hard ones: Try Win7 (64) and BIOS update. Or.... buy yourself a new rig. Only this time don't buy Dell. Assemble yourself a new one.

There's only one BIOS upgrade on the site. Probably it's the last one. Maybe there were more before or maybe not. I'm not used to Dell. Let's put in this way, if I were you I would certainly do it. But I know the risks, and have already upgraded BIOS a lot of times; only once, with a Pentium II, things went wrong. But it's your call. If something goes wrong, you know bye-bye motherboard. Maybe it doesn't justify. Try all other things mentioned first.

It should. And worked for a few weeks. Then, I don't know why, I had to unninstall it and install all over again. This time 2 installations, it's only a few GB's, why bother...

Original WW1 letters from the trenches
Von Paulus replied to Creaghorn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I'm afraid that's not so easy in Europe, as far as I know. Probably in UK would be easier, but not in the rest of Europe. It might sound strange to you, but in US this kind of things are more "dynamic" and open. Here we tend to be more closed and reserved. I think we are loosing a lot of historical material (specially 20th century), It seems there is no interest in preserve and divulge. And probably in Germany, unfortunately its worst. I talked another day with a German member of another forum, about my need to read more about WWI History written by German and French historians. He said that I wouldn't found much German books about WWI. I quote I felt that when I visited Germany 20 years ago. People didn't like to talk of the recent past. I thought this could be have gone after the fall of Berlin Wall. I just hope that some of my Germans m8s here contradict this. And that's not true. In my country if I found such letters, I would keep them and would try to disseminate them through the net. That would be the best way to preserve it. Otherwise... lost. -
Yes I think it's possible. I've tried it for a while, but I ended up in trouble and had to uninstall and install it again. I didn't understand why, AFAIK Most configuration files are in the Users/MyDocuments folders. Playing safe now, I've two installations; one for XP another for Win7.

Original WW1 letters from the trenches

That would be nice. Do you know what happened to the soldier? Did he survived the war? -
You're right. I have already thought about that. Sometimes when you've all the slots filled with RAM, strange things may happen, specially if you've a overclocked machine. But usually you've BSOD's (Blue Screen of Death), freezes or CTD's (Crash to Desktop). Duce is not reporting this. It is also a good experience to try with 3 slots instead 4 and see what the system recognizes. But I've the feeling that this is a combination of factors, chipset, graphic cards and above all BIOS. I've seen in Dell support there is a BIOS update 1.4.1... is that your BIOS version, Duce? No it isn't off topic. I thank your or any contribution from anyone. Better two, three or more heads thinking than one only. I've already learn a few technical stuff in this forum. I'm sure we are all trying to help each other in this forum. Alleluia, the first forum where I don't find ego's war.

Should I read this at the sound of rap?

First the OS problem. Your computer causes an error when you try to install with your Windows XP Pro CD, because that CD lacks the drives of your SATA controllers. In order to overcome this you'll have to use an external or internal floppy drive like Pol wrote. You don't need to do with your Dell recovery CD because that CD has already the drives in question. Further you don't need the Windows XP Pro, because in fact your system is a Windows XP Media Center Edition Professional, so it's a XP Pro. Forget the other CD, hope you didn't spent too much money with it. Your second problem, the RAM one... After burning the few cells brains left in the last 2 hours, I didn't come to a final conclusion. I'd need your PC to make some tests. I've never witnessed a problem like your,or at least with so much discrepancies in terms of the physical memory you've installed and the one reported by Windows. I'm pretty sure there is no problem with your memory. CPUz recognizes 4GB only Windows report differently. First let me say you're not alone I've read in the last 2 hours more people complaining. For me the cause is a combination of factors (mainly hardware). It seems people with Nividia reports it more often, but I think it is also very dependable of the way BIOS addresses the memory. The best explanation: http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Windows/XP/Q_23626068.html Another links : http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/page-232752_12_0.html , http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/page-245921_12_0.html Some times the link of the www.experts-exchange won't appear with full page. Google with "Why will my pc not recognize 4 gig ram? It only recognizes 2.5 on a Windows XP Pro 32 bit." follow the first link. A lot of answers appear in the bottom of the page specially from people with Dell and similar problems. Try to look into your BIOS and see if there any Memory Remap function or any Memory Shadow options, try to play with it and see if there's any difference. I don't see how a 64bit system would solve this, only more memory. I wonder also if you use a different graphic card if the same discrepancies would maintain. In this case I'd say try a 64 system (Win7) and see if the available memory is still 2.5GB.

Duce you've SLI? 2x Geforce7900GS 256MB ?
