End of year thanks to the OFF Community and a few specific members

Well, don't you insanely want a Snipe? -
how to claim downed aircraft
Von Paulus replied to Dutchie's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
Claims are for campaign I think. There is a setting in the workshop where you can choose where downed plains in QC count and appear in Pilot Dossier. -
Do yourself a favor and install Firefox like rscsjsuso5 said. And then install NoScript and BlockAd Plus plugins. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:1/cat:12 Use one of those suggested by Pol or malwarebytes to clean the mess. http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Missions too long & trouble with warping
Von Paulus replied to Crockett12's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Precisely thats what I do. Find an aerodrome in our side of the front line or if not able to fly try to land in any place in my front line side. That's what happened in reality. -
I see. Go ahead. Boot from XP CD. And format C, exactly like in the step 7 at the step by step guide.
-
Yes that was when you took the wrong way, Deuce. You have a Windows XP Home CD or you have a Dell Recovery CD?Or you've a different XP version, a Pro?

No not really. You simply install in the HD of your choice. There are a lot of games that are already installing the config and saves in Documents and Settings (XP) or Users (Win7) in drive c or even in the My Documents. OFF installs most part of its configuration and save files in the folders I mentioned previously. And that happens automatically even when you choose to install OFF in another drive. What siggi said is true. I really don't think you'll get an extra 10% but try. But if you do all kind of this minor tweeks, like defraging your HD's, it sure can help. The amount it will depend on your machine Look at this thread: http://forum.combatace.com/topic/51022-ot-dual-boot-of-win7-and-xp/ Hmmm. I'm not sure, but as far as I know even with a lot of ram there are programs/games that will want to use a pagefile. Remember that most of the programs are 32bits, and cannot use (for example) more than 2GB of ram, the rest they might need will use a pagefile on your HD even if you're running in a 64bits OS with a lot of RAM. Probably that's why sometimes people who switch off the pagefile in order the system to use the extra memory, report loss of performance.

Great review. OBD team deserves the best compliments.

It is true, that's why I don't advise SSD for Windows and pagefile. But in case of games you're not always patching it, so 10,000 times it's still a lot. The personal info (like saves) is nowadays in most cases not in the game folder but somewhere in the my documents folder. So in the end you'll not be read/writing a lot. But yes I do agree, that's still a new technology that needs a lot of improvements and above all to be more cheaper.

Neither do I, and I am using Win7 Home Premium.

Antec is one of the best brands. I've never assembled a 900, but I believe it's like gordohk said the main problem is the cable management. The PSU has long cables but someone with average skill and patient will overcome the problem. Besides that's not a crucial thing. Some loose cable it won't affect much the cooling at the risk of overheating some components. I love the concept of the Antec P183/P193 where the PSU cables came behind the board and not in the front. But that demands long cables that I think it might be the case of your PSU. As for the SSD. I personally would have a soultion of two SATA HD's one for Windows/Programs and another for Working/Storage. Then I would add a SSD just for the games.

There was the rumor that in ARMA II that the devs created a yeti and he his hidden somewhere in the mountains of the game. Here we have the case of a mysterious train that seems to haunt some of us. At least there is some factual evidence. Couldn't this be the Armistice's train? I just love this game. EDIT: It seems the devs have fixed this in mini patch 1.47. That's a pity I was anxious to have a close encounter.

Great config. For the graphic card I'd choose probably the ATI; but if you go with the Nvidia its ok also. Are you going to choose a new PC case? That's as important as the components you choose. And in my opinion you should go for a SSD just for installing the games. Hardisk's are the really bottlenecks of our systems.
-
The only important driver you must have at hand is the network driver in order to connect your PC to the internet and download the rest of the drivers in case you don't have your motherboard CD. If you've SP2 it's ok at least in terms of security. But advise to install the AV and a firewall before connecting it, specially if you're not behind a router. If you've any problem with drivers just give a PM and I'll help you. Unfortunatelly in the last 20 years I've formating and installing PC's at least once a day.

A step by step guide: http://www.winsupers...xp_sg_clean.asp You can't format c: from windows. You've to boot up from CD and then you can format C: Take a look at the tutorial. EDIT: A youtube video

Very interesting. Now where can we get a copy of powertest.exe ?
-
Sure. SSD is like a Hardisk, it will be assigned with a letter (D,E,F....etc) like any ordinary storage device. Only thing you've to do is when installing OFF and he is asking where to install you've to change the default path (normally I think it's C:\Program Files.......) to the SSD path.

It's still new technology. The lifespan will be improve. I think that's the best upgrade we can do to our systems.

Can I survive fourteen days without OFF ?

Happy New Year Olham. This forum won't be the same with your absence. -
Welcome!

Format?!

Because I'm used to it, since always, it his like a second nature to me. I don't get distracted. It's more difficult when I see a Japanese movie with English subtitles instead my native language, but it only takes a couple of minutes to be mentally synchronized.

...And don't forget to burn it, this time, on a CD.

In Portugal there isn't the habit to dub movies; only the movies for kids, because some can't read yet. Personally I can't see a movie without their original voices. Even knowing that the technique is almost perfect in some cases, the result is always a complete artistic assassination of the acting and in the end the movie itself. The acting act is unique and if it involves voice than it cannot be separated from the rest. Even if we can mimic in perfectness the subtlety of the actor's voice tones it won't never be the same as the original it will be a forgery, a fake. In the end it will be an interpretation of the dub actor and not the original act. There is a special "weight" in an actor, and that is given by his stature, his physical presence, his performance and of course his voice. Can you imagine dubing the voice of Bruno Ganz in the "Der Untergang" or even in "Der Himmel uber Berlin" by an american actor? or seeing Gérard Depardieu, Klaus Kinski, Marcello Mastorianni, etc, without their original voices. Well I just can't. For me Cinema is art and the final outcome should be what the Director has devised. And that includes the original voices. EDIT: That's true. That's why is not uncommon to find a Portuguese that speaks a second or a third language. That's not even theright way to "defend" their native languages. The school is the place for such battle.
