And to think that I have never seen real snow... Suppose that's the benefit of living near the sea in Portugal. On the other end a couple of days ago I felt a earthquake level 6 in the Richter scale. I was playing OFF and thought that was probably a effect of the new wind buffeting when I noticed that it wasn't only my monitor but my chair and desk who were also dancing around. The desk is sturdy but I've seen it shaking and thought it was made of cardboard. Nothing like mother nature to show us how fragile are we are. Glad to know everything is ok with you.

I've never had turned on Catalyst A.I. in OFF. So I decided to give it a try. And I 'm now completely amazed with the extra smoothness I got without loosing really many FPS. Tried in both XP and Win7 and the results are just really fantastic. With AI on, AA2x and AF4x, OFF HiTR looks great and smoootttthhhhhh. EDIT: I set the AI Catalyst for High.

Most of the Magazines (to not say all) are only interested in PC "consolized" and dumb down games. The true PC games are only market niches that don't need to be covered so they say. Sign of the times. Shame.

The instructions given by Herr PW are correct. For Vista or Win7 it's not much different. My C drive has XP, D has OFF, E has Win7. I put XP pagefile in E. Win7 pagefile I allocate it to C. To do this you've first to turn off pagefiles in both Operative Systems and reboot each time. To obtain best performance you should defrag your HD's after turning off the pagefiles. Why? Because if the HD is defragmented you'll assure that when you create the pagefile it won't be fragmented. So after defragmenting you can then set your pagefiles. Use custom sized, with the min and max value set with the same value, instead system managed; this way it will prevent from later have pagefile fragmented and scattered along the HD. In my case with 4GB memory I set man and min value 3071. With this Defragger you can fully customized which folders will be allocated in the faster access areas of you HDs. I advised to read the documentation inside Ultimate Defrag; it will give you a good idea of how the things work inside a HD and which strategies serve you better, according to the use you give to your computer. Agreed. There are still apps and games which run better in XP. With 2 hardisks you can put the pagefile in the other HD which isn't running your OS you chose. The ideal is 3. One for OS, other for Game, other for pagefile.

Definitely I see an improvement in XP. 10/15 fps more. Not so much in Win7 but probably I had already the maximum performance I can expect with my system. I'll try tonight with XP and Win7 in my 4890. I'll report. EDIT: Pol you'll need those set of drivers. Those new cards they surely need it. Rumours says that ATI haven't yet tweaked enough the drivers for their new cards, because they are waiting for Nvidia launch. Rumors appart the fact is that 9.11 were a shallow set of drivers. And next month 10.1 will be launch. Expect further improvements with the 5870.

Yes I think that the AI is less aggressive. This suggestion of incorporating AI behavior in WS would be marvelous. But isn't the AI behavior also related with the AI level? We should expect a more aggressive behavior from a veteran than a rookie. I too wouldn't like to go to a pre HiTR AI.

Each time we update the graphic card driver have always to run cf3config.exe and set all the settings again.

I've read that some people is happy with that set of drivers for the 5xxx. Or expect the release for today of the new official drivers.
