  1. 1918 Glossary of Aeronautical Terms

Thanks RAF_Louvert! I'm sure it will be useful.
  2. Upgrade question - CPU & graphics card

@almccoyjr Thanks for the tip for TeraCopy. I'll try it. QC is working fine here, uncleal. Note that not everything runs happily on Win7. In my case, ARMA II, with last ATI drivers runs better in XP than in Win7, while OFF is definitely running better in Win7 than in XP. I didn't give up XP. I try to have the best of the two worlds.
  3. Airco DH5 pics

Thanks Pol. It surely looks nice.
  4. I find the term "lie" too "strong" in this case Lothar. There might by some misinformation that's all. But nobody here is spreading lies for the sake of... lying. I don't have FFB in Win7, but like I've stated in another thread, that's not a problem of Win7 but from the joystick maker who didn't even gave support in Vista. In my case (32 bit) I can't do a ALT TAB in XP or in Win7, without crashing the OS or at least the OFF manager.
  5. Upgrade question - CPU & graphics card

The problem related with FFB support is more on the Joystick makers side than on Win7. In my personal case the problem is caused by M$ because they stop giving support to Sidewinder Pro FFB. So yes I don't have FFB with Win7 but the guilty part is the joystick maker, in this case M$.
  6. Windows 7

Yes. But that's easy to solve. The file CFS3MP.exe must also run in Windows XP compatibility mode with also the option Run as Administrator ticked. The problem to me only come after I choose the side, axies or alies. When I press to continue the game just jump off to OFF manager.
  7. Windows 7

I'll try tonight or tomorrow. But no hope....

    Great!
  11. Windows 7

I thinks it's unavoidable. Besides that, at a certain stage they begun to optimize more for the new cards, the new operative systems and for the games with more sales. Have you tweaked the graphic settings like it is explained in the FAQ? If you are at easy with more technical stuff, I'd say take a look at this guide: http://www.tweakguides.com/NVFORCE_1.html Tweaking options like 'Maximum Pre-Rendered Frames' have helped people in the past (with different games). You can try to run the game with the optin Windows XP compatibility mode (but I doubt that will change anything).

Report at Play after 21 days.
  14. Windows 7

That is true. But I think Win 7, at least the 32 bit version, is far more stable than XP at launch. Of course this things are also hardware related. Memory and processor are important in terms of performance. IMO this can be easily explained. XP was a major breakthrough when it was released (compared with Millenium and 2000). So some adaptations were needed. Windows 7 it's more a natural kind of evolution from XP and Vista. While with Vista I've a hate relationship, with this I'm beginning to fall in love. So far.
  15. Is windowed mode possible?

Well I'm afraid but I've never tried it to play in windowed mode. So I won't be able to answer you. But welcome to the forums and to our community.
  16. OT What Job do you do?

I've been working, in the last 20 years, in computer repair shops. Now I'm the owner of a little computer shop. My work, besides the administrative part of the business, is to sell, repair computers and give technical support assistance when required. I work mainly with home users and (less) with small business's. It's not the professional career that I've dreamed. But that's life...
  17. My pleasure. Just for curiosity, is it running smooth as in the other Windows version?
  18. Windows 7

I've always had the impression that ATI designed better hardware but the software team in Nvidia was better. Let's see what will happen with the arrival of Intel to the graphic card market.
  19. Windows 7

Fully agree. Corsair is one of the best PSU's that money can buy. I have 3 hardisks also. I use 1 for Windows, other for the games and other for pagefile and storing. I keep pagefile separated to have better performance. I never measured the use of pagefile in OFF it could be interesting to know. Maybe your problem is related to nvidia drivers. A lot of people seems to be complaining with the last versions.
  20. Windows 7

    1 Hardisk? Is it defraged?
  21. I've the DVD version of CFS3 so it's not the same setup has yours. But... One of the things I've to tweak in Win7 was the regional settings like is explained in FAQ. I've the English version of Win7 but my regional settings are set for Portugal, so I had to change the decimal symbol to "." instead of "," and change the Non-Unicode program to English. Another thing I've done was to get the last DX9 (it's from August) and install it. I've set cfs3.exe and OFFManager.exe to run with Administrator privileges in the Compatibility Tab. You can try this with your actual installation. But if this don't work I'd try it again with a CFS3/OFF fresh install.
  22. Windows 7

ATI Catalyst drivers 9.10 with ATITool. I've a 4890. With the last versions of Catalyst drivers I have stutters in XP and decrease of performance in OFF. But curiously it didn't happen with ARMA II. I've the same performance in XP and Win7. Well this is the wonderful world of PC gaming. Have you checked your PSU? Do you've enough amp for the 285?
  23. Windows 7

I've installed OFF in Windows 7 Home Premium (32). No problemn to report (as expected). Only two things that must be tweaked. The regional settings for the non-english Windows and I had to install Directx 9. The gaming is running very smooth. As for the Windows 7 itself, yes, I do believe that MS has a winner this time.
