  1. Great - thanks anyway. At least I know now that there are no (created) missions supposed to start from the carrier.....
  2. Is it possible to create missions that start from the carrier's deck? All missions start on the runway of an AB... (Or in the air or near target for that matter.)
  3. Yes, very true - but far from all of them were directly sent to SEA back then. My understanding was that the big bulk remained in the US - not the least to be trained on them... And then all of them ar on every AB I start from.....
  4. Yeah, it's absolutely fantastic (just compare it to the one already in the game - "Sharkmouth"...) - I love it!
  5. Okay, yesterday I checked again - F-111s in foreground, F-4B on display... Took off and peeked into the revetments: the planes were F-4s! I'll keep my eye on that... And I still think about reversing the F-111s; I don't really love the image of so many 111s as they must have been quite scarce then (was '67 yesterday).......
  6. It does... I was (and admittedly still am) a bit unsure, whether at that time my created mission was to take place (think it was in 67) there should be F-111s around. If I recall correctly, they entered the scene quite late in the war...
  7. Allright - although still a beginner (have the sim for around two weeks now) I think, I'll want to dive into there... Where do I find those settings (some .ini I guess), do I need something more (software) than just the editor to open, change and save?
  8. So, you say that by cycling through (F-10) the planes, the description (F-8 lower left) "means" the ones back in the revetments - just that there's this lot of F-111s standing in the foreground? Okay, good guess - will check that (zooming in should work)...
  9. Okay, if it (originally) comes like that, I'll (have to) live with it...... Maybe "over the time" somebody will find a fix and include it in a patch..... Thanks for your feedback!
  10. ...here's a screenie - in this case F-111s replace F-8s that should be there instead (see lower left corner - plane's description is F-8s!)... This makes me confident the added F-111s are the reason why. Now, any reccommendations how to "best remove them"?
  11. ...here it comes... I think in this position the sun shouldn't shine through the dashboard. How is it in your games?
  12. Here's the VietnamSEA-data: [Terrain] TerrainFullName=Vietnam, Southeast Asia DataFile=VietnamSEA_data.INI TargetFile=VietnamSEA_targets.INI TargetTypeFile=VietnamSEA_types.INI MovementFile=VietnamSEA_movement.INI NationsFile=VietnamSEA_nations.INI BriefingText=VietnamSEA_briefing.INI DogfightFile=VietnamSEA_dogfight.INI DogfightOnly=FALSE Longitude=106 Latitude=16 LimitedNations=TRUE [Map] FilenameFormat=VietnamSEA_Map%d.bmp Width=1000000.0 Height=1000000.0 NumZoomLevels=3 [WeatherChance] ScatteredChance=35 BrokenChance=25 OvercastChance=20 InclementChance=10 [AllowedMissionTypes] FriendlyMissionTypes=SWEEP,CAP,ESCORT,STRIKE,CAS,SEAD,ARMED_RECON,RECON,ANTI_SHIP EnemyMissionTypes=SWEEP,CAP,ESCORT,STRIKE,CAS,SEAD,ARMED_RECON,RECON,ANTI_SHIP [AllowedDates] StartDate=8/2/1964 EndDate=4/30/1975 ...plus a screenie - left of front of aircraft. But I'm pretty much sure this comes from the trees.....
  13. Yep, I'll provide some screenies asap - but it was the standard F-4 and it seemed quite more than just "glare"!
  14. I have the absolutely fabulous "SF2V Air and Ground War Expansion Pack v1.0 by malibu43" installed (which includes GreenHell2 - I think this is the one mostly connected to my "finding"). Yesterday I saw - when flying low low - that the transition area from the jungle's canopy to the sky was kind of "blurry"/boxy shaped. (Sorry, I forgot to take screenies - I'll try to bring some later!) Anybody else saw those, too, or might have an idea if/how to smoothe them out? Something else, I "found out": when in a dogfight, I was bottoming out a dive just feet from the ground - I actually was flying through the treetops, cutting them away ... Except from the swooshing sounds, it did no further harm but it sure was close... What to learn from that: crash altitude seems to remain below the top of the tree's height! (Although there sure will be not too much air in between...) And I was rewarded for my sweat by taking out the MiG with a Sidewinder just after recovering from that dive! That was COOL!
  15. When flying at dawn or dusk and towards the sun low, the sun keeps shining through the cockpit structure and gauges. Is this "as it comes", or is it connected to some AddOn installed (I have some planes, skins and the beautiful "SF2V Air and Ground War Expansion Pack v1.0 by malibu43" installed) - and/or can there be sth. done about it? Sorry, I forgot to take screenies... (I know: everybody LOVES them! )
  16. Found out sth. VERY strange yesterday: I created a new mission (starting with take off from AB) and after my squad was in the air, I cycled through the planes "fly by" (guess that was key F10). After seeing all of my flight, hitting F10 again and again, it took me to the planes still on ground - and here it got strange: There were a lot of F-111s shown sitting by the hangars but all of them were tagged as F-105s! I guess this has something to do with the AddOn-F-111's I installed just recently ("SF2 F-111A/D/E/F EF-111A and FB-111A by Dave (USAFMTL)" found here: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=9192). It seems as if the download overwrote some of my F-105-aircraft-data, right? Now how to cure that? Will just removing the F-111s from my aircraft-folder do the job (or will I lose some/the F-105s then, too)? Well, I planned to remove all but the A-model of the F-111 anyhow, as only this one was used in Vietnam to any larger extent. Or shall I play sure and re-install SF2V and go through the work and install all my AddOns once again?
  17. Allright: yesterday I copied the ThirdWire/StrikeFighters2-folder (from my drive: saved games) to a back-up drive and installed the Expansion Pack plus the A-6 Cockpit from FOTI... All works absulutely flawlessly! Seeing the mass of jungle below really adds to the scene, and the A-6-cockpit - I must/can say - is absolutely well done! The only thing, that I do not like too much is the "StarWars"-like cross-shaped halo from the rocket thrust... Looking forward to flying again this evening.........
  18. I just downloaded "Better Widesky" by insky/orsin... Now I am unsure if this is the one integrated into the "Expansion Pack"... (Is it? Don't think so...) Yes, that way of "filekeeping" in SF2 really sounds very straightforward! So, how do I then identify the files related to "Widesky"? Are they put into one ("widesky"-) folder altogether? As the next step then, installing "Fly Them All Rolling Thunder" sounds quite tempting (getting the bunch of MiGs plus their Missions)......
  19. Sounds very promising - your info on what's included and that chances are not too bad, that the package won't slow down my system considerably... As it won't harm, I can try our widesky "isolated" before... Guess it's more easy to remove it then before re-installing it with the "Expansion Pack".......
  20. Thanks for yor view... How "low end" is your laptop, then? I am running SF2V on a notebook, too: Dual Core 2,5 GHz 2 GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GS Vista 32 SP2... Will I have to expect slow performance, too? Btw: can I "de-select" certain parts from the package after installing or do I have to keep away from installing them, beforehand? So, there is an enhanced sky coming (description names some "Widesky") in it - how about more scenery like trees/jungle (is that included in the "GreenHell2-fixes" mentioned)?
  21. I just read about the "SF2V Air and Ground Expansion Pack v1.0" - sounds as if THAT one pretty much covers a lot of what is to be wished.......... PLUS it covers A-1 Skyraider and A-6 Intruder, which - in my opinion - must not be missed when thinking about Vietnam... Experiences?
