Got my CH Pedals! Flying is tougher, more immersive
rjw replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thanks for the great Vid capture. Sure would like to know how to do that. The vid was very instructional and the explanation of the limitations of the flight model explains away my problem. Thanks again for everything. I now know my pedals are fine. -

Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals config problem
rjw replied to rjw's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
Folks; I think my problem is resolved. I received some excellent knowledgeable experiences from "Olham" in the OFF General Discussion forum under the subject "Got my CH Pedals...." It seems that the flight model for the DR1 will not allow for a 180 degree flat turn. The most you can get is 30-40 degrees. Olham posted a vid demonstrating this. I now suspect I have no problem with my flight pedals and that it is the flight model that is limiting me. Maybe the flight model will be updated in the future. Thanks for all the assistance folks. I always find something new and intructive in this forum. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=44446 -
Got my CH Pedals! Flying is tougher, more immersive

Thanks Olham and others; I really loved the video you cut Olham as an aid for me. I haven't yet figured out how to do a vid capture during the game. I need to look into this as it is really an asset is assessing manouvers. I would appreciate any directions on achieving this. Your vid also confirms what I have been experiencing myself. I do have to apply ailerons to maintain the 30-40 degree angle. I also noted that you stated: "The "flat turn" of the Dr.1 cannot be simulated in OFF. That is due to the type of flight simulation model, that was chosen for CFS3. Gremlin explained it better some time ago, but I forgot the details." That in itself puts my issue to bed. It's too bad as it would have been fun to try to achieve the manouver had the capability been there. Oh well, maybe in a later mod release (I hope). Thanks again for all the assistance folks; -
Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals config problem
rjw replied to rjw's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
Thanks; I did everything you recommended prior posting this problem. so I am rather confused as to why you have no problem. As I said , If the joystick is left untouched, while flying straight and level, and I apply left or right rudder, my plane banks left or right without any aileron movement. I have verified this by viewing flight path from outside the cockpit in rear view mode. -
Got my CH Pedals! Flying is tougher, more immersive

Thanks for the analysis. I was flying the DR1 as a test case. I noticed that I could stop the banking effect by applying ailerons but unfortunately this also had the effect of slowing down the flat turn and ultimately causing an extremely wide turning ratio when in fact I was trying to achieve a snap flat turn. Is this beyond the capability of the sim? I understand that the DR1 was capable of such a manouver. Regards; -

Just responding to the following. I just installed Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Padals, disabled ailerons, and elevator in for this device in "Mine" file. Also disabled rudder on "MS Force Feedback 2" joystick in "Mine" file. I now noticed that when flying straight and level, if I let go of the joystick and apply left rudder the aircraft turns and banks left instead of doing a flat turn left. Likewise right rudder results in the same effect. How do I stop the banking effect without having to apply joystick ailerons? I can't seem to achieve a flat turn! Look forward to some help with this if anyone has the answer. Best Regards; -
I am running Vista 32 using Combat Flight Simulator 3 with "Over Flanders Fields" applied. The problem I'm experiencing is that when I apply z-rotation to the stick, I only get a short interval of rudder no matter how long I hold the twist position. The result is that the aircraft makes only a minor shift left or right of center flight path and ceases to continue the flat turn. I have this problem with combat flight sim in native mode and also with "OFF". I don't have any other flight sims to run at this time. Does anyone know how to remedy this? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

z-rotation problem using MS Force Feeback 2
rjw replied to rjw's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
To "Sitting Duck" and "uncleal" Thanks for your response. I did try "float view" and watched my rudder move full left and right but the resulting aircraft movement to left or right was minimal and that I had to apply alerons in order to prevent my aircraft from banking. I find this confusing, why should my aircraft bank when I'm only applying rudder? I'm thinking it's time to dump this joystick or get the pedals. I like the joystick so I'm inclined to go the pedal direction. Any suggestions as to best pedal choices would be appreciated keeping in mind I'm on Vista 32 Ultimate. "uncleal" indicated he is using the saitek cyclone EVO. what can u tell me about the pro's and cons of this joystick versus the MSFFB 2? Thanks guys, you have been very helpful to date. -
z-rotation problem using MS Force Feeback 2
rjw replied to rjw's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
Thanks to all those folks who provided their comments/suggestions to my problem. I have tried ajusting the controls in phah as "sitting duck" suggested but this seemed to have no or little effect. I still only get about three degrees of movement left or right from my rudder before the flat turn just stops and I resume straight ahead flight. It's not an "auto trim" issue as I have this turned off. Not sure I want to invest in rudders in case this problem persists through new hardware choices. In theory, if my rudder is turned full left or right and my aircraft ceases to continue the flat turn beyond the initial 3 degrees there is a problem. I have tried keyboard commands for rudder and I get the same effect. I hope this clarify's my problem and that someone in the forum more clearly understands my issue. I look forward to any further suggestions that I may pursue Regards -

Thanks for your response. I was using MS Sidwinder software on my XP Pro platform but when I installed Vista 32 it was identified not compatible so I had to use the Vista built in software. I was hopeing that someonw familiar with the VISTA 32 platform had an idea of the problem. Thanks again for your input, it was appreciated. -
