  1. I THINK i'VE GOT IT!!!!!

    It's a very tedious process and one I would not like to spend a lot of time on in general, but I found the tutorial very enlightening, useful and explicit and I thank all who worked on it.

    I have a better understanding and appreciation for the complexity and time it takes to generate all those skins in P3. I can't imaging the hours involved to complete them all.

    Best Regards;:good:

  2. In the tutorial by "Gous" Chapter 2, it says "First, go to Layer tab and create a new Layer and press Ok".

    My editor is Paint Shop Pro version X2. and when I create a new layer I have to choose one of the following:

    Raster, Vector, ArtMedia, Group, Mask, or Adjustment.

    Just what type of layer should I be choosing since the tutorial doesn't define one.

    Best Regards; :blink:

  3. rjw, not sure what you mean but shift+W is change heading to "Next waypoint" i.e. not Warp? But if you mean you changed to the next waypoint and then warped, there is the occasional glitch in CFS where you head off to the blue yonder and waypoints break but no idea if that is what you saw. Either way I doubt it's never going to happen again. Put it down to getting lost on patrol I guess. Otherwise maybe you shift+W too many times and ended up back in the middle of the map (rotated through the waypoints?).

    Thanks Polovsky;

    You are correct. I guess I hit the occasional glitch scenario.

    Thanks for your Observations.:good:

  4. :dntknw: During a mission, I decided to use the "Shift + W" keys to warp to next location. I did this several times and each time I brought up the in flight map to see where I was.

    What I noticed was that the map did not get updated with my current position.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

    I for one am not too concerned with this and it may not be an issue in "P2".

    Best Regards;

  5. Cheers and thanks for the feedback; the DII was indeed one of the limited number of known issues; from what I've seen the Albs are all fine in the original mod.

    HPW provided a separate FM mod just for the Halb DII which may have had its features incorporated in his latest mod. Specifically, the stock DII is remarkably nose-heavy which may not have helped it to cope with flying at realistic weight; HPW had much improved this nose-heaviness as well as reducing the weight, to the extent it could take off fine.

    Just wish I could catch up to the Alb DIII's in my Jasta. They always seem to run away from me. Such is life in a DII.

  6. As a matter of interest, which type of plane is crashing, and do you happen to know at which particular airfield?

    At the moment as HPW says, it seems that only certain planes (some, but not all, lower-powered, early war?) cannot cope and even then, only have the problem at certain airfields eg with trees and/or slopes at the take-off end. Halberstadt DIIs and Pups I have seen have problems in this situation. FE2s might, not sure. Would help to know what other types have problems.

    I'm interested to see how HPW's ramp-weight mod works out; I have been sticking with the current weight mod as I think the lightweight AI badly need the reining in it provides and will be interested to see if HPW's new mod can contunue to do that sufficiently, while eliminating the problem from the (few?) plane types and airfield situations where the AI can't safely take off at close to (but less than) normal full military load - which they really should be able to do. That said the current un-modded OFF take-off performance is wildly better than P2 where fireballs at the end of the runway were very common if not the norm, even with the extra weight the P3 AI manage to take off, climb and dogfight quite well in most cases which is a credit to the team.

    I have also noticed that my flight-mates often lag at lower levels before climbing up after me but I think they had this problem much the same without any mod and that it is more an AI formation-keeping issue than anything else, as they can climb up fast enough when they 'decide' to.

    My problem was in Jasta 11 which had Alb DIII and Halberstad II. All my Halbs crashed into the trees at the end of the runwasy when I took off. The DIII's were not in the missions I tried so I can't say if there would have been a problem.

    Regards;

  7. I think HPW is right. I had a problem with a chosen Fighter squadron being allocated bomber missions and found that the relevant file had the role set to 'bomber', despite the unit being chosen from the list of 'fighter' squadrons presented when creating my pilot. As with your pilotdossier edit, hand-editing the squadron role back to 'fighter' had no effect - it reverted on restarting the sim. The dev's answer was on this forum not long ago but it amounted to what HPW said, there's a look-up master table in a file somewhere, which may or may not be locate-able and editable, which over-writes some kinds of hand-edits in these files.

    Thanks for the input 33LIMA!

    I guess that pretty much makes it like "finding a needle in a haystack" doesn't?

    I will keep watching this post in hopes that someone will come up with the "how to".

    Best Regards; :salute:

  8. The forum seems a bit quiet as we anxiously await more news about OFF2, so I thought I might bore you with details of a few things I am currently working on FM-wise (when I have the time, that is)! Mostly I am just working on minor updates, fixes and changes to my previously released FM's as well as a few fixes to the .cfg file (the main FM file) for the stock OFF FM.

    ,,,,,,

    Guten Tag, Herr Prop-Wasche;

    You have done some fine work there with your mods, and I thank you. That being said, I hope that "P2" doesn't negate all your work. Have you enquired whether any of your mods will be applicable or necessary with P2?

    Haben sie vielen dank! (Many Thanks)

  9. I am not running that system; but did you have a specific question? I see a lot of complaints about that board; both in memory problems ( I see it only supports ddr3 1600). People are also complaining about the sata controllers as well. Is it a planed or existing build? You could get a much better Asus board for around the same price.

    Hi FenrisWlf;

    Just wondering about compatibility of the board and the video card. Actually I would be interested in anyones comments who are using that vid card and what they are running it with whether crossfire or not. The board has been around for awhile and therefore does not have the newest technology. I am using the board with a Saphire Radeon 4870 card (not crossfire) with no problems but considering possible future updates

    Best Regards

  10. My HPW Lighter AI Empty Weight Mod has just been uploaded to the Downloads section of the forum and awaits approval from the moderators of the board. Please see the General OFF forum for details.

    Thanks Herr Prop-Wasche!

    Just curious, how much of an adjustment did you have to make and was it the same adjustment amount for each craft?

    Best Regards;

  11. OFF2 uses the same folder structure, and some registry areas are the same too. As Hellshade says we are too small a team to cater for all possibilities by changing all references and then all the testing required etc with old versions knocking around.

    The answer is still no unfortunately we do not have more time to test both and make sure they co-exist.

    Thanks Polovsky for taking the time to clarify the reasons "why". I for one appreciate it.

    Best Regards;

  12. Nobody wants to wait longer for a product to ship that now has unnecessary bugs in it just so that a few people can still play the older version of the game...which they may well discard once they begin enjoying all the features of the new game anyway.

    That's what I'm guessing.

    Hellshade

    I see your point. That being said I hope P4 "hits the ground running" so to speak and is considerably bug free and such a big improvement over P3 when released. If this proves to be the case I would have no need for P3. If not, I would be faced with the prospect of having to remove P4, re-install P3 and wait for fixes to come.

    I thank you for your point of view.

    Best Regards :bye:

  13. No. OFF2 (P4) will replace P3 we will make no allowances for P3 to be there too, and will not test it. They may share registry settings etc, so generally a bad idea.

    I would have hoped that you would leave P3 alone and Install P4 independantly. Can you explain why you take this stance, as I would like to appreciate your reasoning on this matter. I personally think that since I paid for P3, I should have the right to keep it installed on my machine should I like to use it some time without having to remove P4 to re-install it. Call me what you like, but I hate to throw away a good thing until I am satisfied that the replacement is better. I'm not being critical, I'm just requesting that you appreciate my point of view

    As "Startibartfast" stated in this discussion, and it bears merit: "Damn now thats what you call user support...!!!"

    "RamblingSid" also has a valid question as well when he stated: "Pardon a probably silly question,but, does this mean that OFF2 will require the removal of OFF1 (BHH + various phases) in order to run?"

    Best Regards, and I am really looking forward to having P4 on my machine :bye:

  14. Hi Folks;

    I just downloaded and installed the AI weight mod and was suprised to see that all my AI buddies can't get the lead out of their pants on takeoff and crash into the trees at the end of the runway :dntknw: .

    Does anyone know what I have to do to correct this. I hope I don't have to take the mod out because I like what it promises to deliver.

    Best regards to all;

  15. Years ago I took a stab at decrypting much of the data that is in those files, but beyond a few easy to edit areas where you could resurrect a dead pilot, change squadron/plane assignments as well a few other things, I was never really able to get my head around some of the other attributes of the data shown.

    Honestly, the main change I would make was to change the line that said (IIRC) "Deceased", back to "In Service", which would bring my recently expired pilot back to life.

    Madmatt

    Thanks for your reply. I appreciate your insight.

    I was hoping that someone from the developer group might have some insight into this, but so far there have only been two replies.

    I appreciate your comments and if I ever figure it out I will try to compile the answers and post them.

    Best Regards;

  16. Aaaah - you mean that minor error! ... :grin:

    When you have found the right stuff for those cells, please let me know.

    I was also wrong by writing 15 February, when it was 15 January.

    Damn stuff between my ears - sometimes I think, Aliens have substituted it with scrambled eggs overnight!

    Well you know, I wouldn't knock the scrambled eggs... At least they have a known market value!!!:rofl:

  17. My guess would be that that particular squadron does not possess the Alb DIII_early at that date in the war--at least as defined by the squadron roster which I believe is a hidden game file and not accessible to the player. Also remember that in P3, your flight cannot have a mix of different aircraft, so it prohibits you flying with an Albatross while the rest of your flight or squadron has another plane. This restriction is eliminated in P4, I believe.

    Thanks for your conjecture regarding the possible restriction of mixed aircraft types iin a given squadron.. I do know that the Jasta has Albatross DIII's in it but I don't know how many.

    Do you have an answer for my first quesion re mapping of the "PilotDossier.txt" files?

    Thanks for your reply to question 2.

    Best Regards;

  18. :cool: I know that this is off subject matter but What is the price of a gallon of gas in your area ? Reference: a news cast saying that the price of a Gallon is 15.00 dollars USD in Europe and 10.00 USD in South America. The momentary price here ( Low Deseret area of Calif USA ) is 4.00 USD. :blink:

    Hi Carrick;

    I'm from Ontario Canada. We go by the metric system (liters). 1 US Gal = 3.785 liters.

    Gas here ranges from $1.17 to $1.36 per liter. That is like $4.43 to $4.92 per US Gallon

    Regards

  19. I have two questions related to the "PilotDossier.txt" files in OFF.

    1) does anyone have a description map for each line entry in the file.

    2) does anyone know why the following would happen:

    When I change the assigned aircraft from

    Halb_DII_QC1

    Spare

    Halberstadt DII

    to

    AlbDIII_QC1

    Spare

    Albatros DIII

    The file reverts back to the Halb when OFF starts. It would appear the entries are being over written and I would like to know why and how.

    If anyone is familiar with the operation of these files any help with this would be appreciated.

    Best Regards
