1. Hmmmm, perhaps your OFF is a cheap Hong Kong fake, rjw? When I go through Jasta 11, I see him from 15 February on.

    With full name and rank: Rittmeister Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen. Perhaps you want to have another look?

    .

    Olham;

    You are correct again!! Must be all that Glycol I have been breathing in my recent missions :dntknw:!!! I went back and checked again and just as you indicated MvR left Jasta 2 on Jan 15th and went to Jasta 11 on the same day.

    I can't believe I missed it, and I had checked the rosters twice!!! I think I'll take a break and go feed my brain cells!!

    Sorry for such a stupid mistake!

  2. Well, he wasn't the "Red Baron" already in Jasta 2 - he painted his Albatros red only later, in Jasta 11.

    Manfred von Richthofen became the leader of Jasta 11 after his time with Jasta 2.

    Maybe he did not take the new Jasta over immediately, but he had his first victory with Jasta 11 on 23 January 1917.

    What you say is true, I agree. It is however quite interesting that I can find no "hide nor hair" of him since he left Jasta 2. I've explored dates of Feb through April with the other Jastas and he is nowhere to be found!!

    Best Regards;

  3. Hi Folks; :blink:

    I was flying in Jasta 2 in OFF and the RB was listed as an ACE in the Jasta. Suddenly he disappeared from the roster as of Jan 20th, 1917. I then tried to register a new pilot in OFF choosing the start date as Jan 20th onward and then checked out all the Jastas and the RB was not registered with any of them.

    Does anyone know for sure where OFF has sent him. (Vacation maybe?)

    Regards to all

  4. I think it depends on how you name your skin. I usually use the squad default skin as a base for my custom work. This allows you to view it in the 3d object viewer without having to open the program all the way up. However if you do not rename that skin after you change it, it will pop up as the squad default. Also, your custom skins, even if renamed can turn up in the darndest places, I have shot my own skins up on airfield attacks and had them turn up being flown in different squadron formations, go figure.

    Beard

    I did rename my skin to something unique and then placed it in the skins folder, but still it was assigned to all of the squad.

    I gather from Beard's comments " even if renamed can turn up in the darndest places" that nobody has clarified what is causing this problem as yet.

    Von Baur's comments add another complexity to the issue.

    Geeez!!! It makes you want to leave well enough alone and just enjoy the flight!:idea:

  5. Phase 4 is still a long ways off. They Devs haven't even released a single video yet and the videos for Phase 3 started coming out many months before it's release. Furthermore, HitR is a Phase 3 add-on. It is highly unlikely to work with Phase 4 although I am certainly not the final authority on that. Come to think of it, I'm no authority on it at all...but it would seem unlikely since the Devs says Phase 4 will be an entirely new remake of OFF and will NOT simply be an upgrade.

    If you are looking for an immersive, huge dynamic single player WWI campaign with a very large variety of planes to fly in, including scouts and two seaters, OFF Phase 3 is an absolute must buy.

    Hellshade

    I'm already running OFF Phase 3 so I know what you mean. I'm just not sure if I want to add HITR or wait for Phase 4.

    Thanks for all the insights.:bye:

  6. I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on this ?

    what are the significant differences of running OFF on CFS3 vs Hat in he Ring?

    I use CFS3 but have never used Hat in the Ring.

    Any insight would be appreciated.

    Best Regards to all:blink:

    Would it be adviseable to wait until Phase IV of OFF is released before making a decision on purchaseing HITR?

  7. EEGAD!!!

    The stuff you guys are doing is amazing!! Here I am adding a personal insignia to a skin for the first time and feeling proud. Now I want to crawl under the table and hide!

    I would like to see one of your finished crates in video from all angles!

    Any chance some of your work might make it into the OFF sim skins for the future?

    Best Regards;:good:

  8. Thanks for the info, Rod.

    As for my promise to post the RGB values, I only had 1 taker on my offer and I've already sent him what he wanted. If anybody else wants to see it, let me know and I'll post it.

    HI BH!

    Your offer seems very generous. As to why you have not had any requests, I am puzzled. I'm only just looking into skinning and presumed that all the skins in OFF are accurate colour skemes, am I wrong? If I'm wrong, I would suspect that the OFF development team would benefit from your effort.

    Can you shed any light on the OFF skins colour schemes? I might learn something from this.:yikes:

    Best Regards;

  9. rjw--

    This is a known game design/BUG issue involving CFS3. For some reason, the Microsoft game developers decided to make the results of your flown mission and the campaign after-action report independent of one another. Apparently, CFS3 randomly determines how many of your wingmen die or get hurt during a given campaign mission. The OFF developers are working on fixing this problem, but one obstacle is that the CFS3 engine does not report enough details to help the devs determine the specific circumstances of each "real" death or loss of your wingmates during an actual campaing mission.

    Thanks very much for your insight and perception of my experience. It was greatly appreciated. I now fully understand what happed! It's really nice when someone gets right down to the crux of it all as clearly and succinctly as you did.

  10. Thanks Ucleal for your reply. You have made it quite clear you have no concern for the issue and I accept that humbly. However it seems to me that retaining wingmen in a campaign is important to your progress. I can accept that the occurance of the missing wingman occurred. I was just wanting to determine/understand why and thought those who have used the sim longer and more intensely than myself may be able to shed some light on it.

    I'm inquisitive by nature. Thats how we learn and progress.

    Best Regards; :bye:

  11. I recently compled a successful mission with two wingmen in my flight. When all of us returned to base and I landed, OFF announced that one of my wingmen did not return. This is faulty in that my wingmen were circling the base as I landed. There was no indication that my wingmen did not land. In fact they never seem to land no matter how long I sit beside the runway.

    Does anyone have an explanation for this? Is this a bug? :blink:

  12. Please tell me we're dealing with Trackir 4, because then I'd say look into the profiles Loaded by Trackir itself, I'd say check Default Profile

    Trackir 5 is the Blind, Leading the Blind

    Yes In using Trackir 4.1 (Build 37). Very sorry for my reference to Trackir 5.

    I seem to have resolved my problem in that somehow trackir needed to run in administrator mode. CFS3 is in admin mode. I know I was originally running trackir in admin mode when for installed. I do not recall changing it but somehow admin mode was removed.

    All very confusing stuff and as I get older, and my brain gets weaker, I often suffer from FUZZ mode!!!!

    Thanks for all the effort.:this:

  13.
Just thinking out loud . . what about the 32G mini patch

Trackir is magic . . which is another way of saying . . got me

Yes doing a full reinstall is a pain in the butt, but playing without Trackir also stinks

I uninstalled OFF and then tried the full install and applied superpatch and 32G mini. Results were that trackir now doesn't work in CFS3 or OFF. Tried removing trackir and re-installing to no avail.

    I ran trackir and tested head view and it works fine, but it now appears that both sims no longer recognize trackir.

    I'm still hoping someone has some idea of what to try next.

    Best Regards

  14. Hi Folks, I could use some help with Trackir. I just installed it the other day and tried it first with CFS3 successfully. I then tried it with OFF successfully.

    Today I tried to run OFF and it came up without recognizing Trackir, so I trtied it with CFS3 and it worked fine.

    Does anyone know if there is a specific config file that might be corrupted in OFF that I could fix?

    I really don't want to re-install OFF fully.

    I did try the reset buttons in the maintenance section of the workshop but this didn't work for me.

    I also tried a re-install of the pt32superpatch but this also didn't help.

    Regards to all;

    Rob

  15. I have noticed on a couple of occasions when I have had five separate claims to submit at one time, I would be advised by the pop-up that my claim was erroneous and would be ignored if I proceeded to submit it.

    This problem was resoved on both occasions by removing the fifth claim and resubmitting.

    Any idea why the fifth claim would do this? Is it possible to successfully submit a claim with five separate crafts on it?

    Best Regards;dntknw.gif
