  1. I typed into Google "amd wmmd download" and got this. http://www.pcpitstop.com/drivers/download/AMD~760G~(Microsoft~Corporation~WDDM~1.1).html Adding what version of Windows you're running would probably narrow it down more. Incidentally, Matrox's Triplehead2go is the easiest way to go, but you need identical monitors. I never tried SoftTH, but did try AMD Eyefinity and Nvidia Surround but settled for Matrox.
  2. Started flying OFF Phase 1 when it was first out and am now 75 years old. Looking forward to WOFF. I now fly my favorite sims on a 3 Dell monitor setup using a triplehead2go adapter and a self built computer.
  3. Is Wright Pat still an active base. I went thru the Air Museum in 1970 when we came back from a 3 year tour in Germany. They hadn't got all the planes under roofs yet. I still remember standing under the nose of the B-70 and looking up and wondering what kind of stand the Air Force had so the crew could get up to the hatch. That was a long way up. And the engine intakes seemed tall enuf for a guy to stand up in. I remember seeing a Japanese Zero inside and I think it was the German rocket fighter brought out in WW2 that I saw outside. And speaking of B-36's, I saw them from the inside out down at Roswell, NM, in 1957. I remember walking out inside the wing to hookup the wiring to a starter or generator. Can't remember which. Shortly thereafter, the B-52's started arriving.
  4. I recently rebuild my 3 monitor flight sim setup with Triplehead2go from nVidia Surround. That way I could reload a lot of the older flight sims I like such a FS9, Pacific Fighters, and of course OFF using XP. It's all done and works fine....only there's a weird anamoly. You know that one black and white splash screen with the pilots in their great coats heading for their planes? (Always liked that one with the pilot in the center with the cigarette hanging from his lip cuz it looks a lot like my younger son.) Anyway, a ghost in the machine swapped that black and white splash screen for a colored one in Pacific Fighters of an aerial view of a Japanese WW2 carrier. Weird, huh? My son's lookalike doesn't pop up in Pacific Fighters. Can anybody tell me where in OFF that black and white splash screen is supposed to be?
  5. Extra wide

After flying OFF when it first came out in Phase 1 on 4:3 monitors then later on 16:9 monitors, I decided a while back to try OFF on Eyefinity, since I had 3 identical monitors to work with. Didn't quite like it. Couldn't get OFF to work, plus the instructions were somewhat obtuse. Next I tried nVidia's Surround and liked it better. But not OFF again. Then on the Widescreen Gaming forum, I found a better idea. Matrox's Triplehead2go. Sort of a router that would work with XP and a lot of old games I happen to like and run them across 3 monitors. So I got the Ergotech 3 monitor stand, 3 Dell 23 inch monitors, and the triplehead2go. I already had a corner desk and today I got the setup up and running and found myself in immersive heaven. OFF is more of a delight and fun than it's ever been before. Can hardly wait to try WOFF. As ex-Air Force and an old timer living alone except for my four legged pal, I'm gonna enjoy this winter. Let the snow fly. ( I live in northeastern Washington about 35 miles from Canada.)
  6. Extra wide

Be advised boys and girls, it ain't a cheap setup. I'm lucky I've got two pensions coming in. I added up the cost the other day and it came just shy of $1100 US. It helps that the car and the house are paid off. I'm gonna get BoB2 running next. Haven't played it for a while. Plus I want WW2 Pacific front. That theatre was part of my childhood. I don't remember Sunday Dec.7 but I do remember Dec.8 the day after Pearl Harbor. The news of the attack was all there was on the radio. Ticked this little 4 year old off. My favorite childhood radio programs weren't to be found. Thanx for all your kind words. I just wanted to show what the devoted can set up for their enjoyment. And just think about a simulated cockpit. No, I don't think I'll go there.........yet, anyway.
  7. I recently undertook the task of installing OFF3 onto a Win 7 64bit computer. I wanted to fly OFF3 with Eyefinity. I initially installed RoF and the panoramic views with 3 monitors in landscape were great. Still, OFF is my favorite and I undertook that installation. CFS3 was installed and patched. It works in Eyefinity with panoramic views. Next came OFF. BH&H was installed and patched with the Supa and 1.32G mini. I set both CFS3 and OFF to run as administrator. OFF starts, the intro movie plays, spash screens come and go. THEN!! the UI appears but it's too big and the selection buttons are off screen. I've tried varied resolutions, disconnected the outside monitors, ran without Eyefinity. Nada. The only way I can actually see the UI@ÛWˆj^ is in Safemode. That's counter productive since Eyefinity isn't running. To me, at least, it seems if CFS3 can work in Win 7, then OFF should do the same. I know people here have successively installed OFF into Win 7 and I wonder what I'm missing. As Charlie Brown says, "AAAAArrrrgghh!!!" Suggestions are appreciated. For instance, is there a way to reduce UI template so it will show in it's entirety with clickable buttons? I've been flying OFF since P1 came out and this is the most difficulty I've ran into. Additionally when I tried to fly in Safe Mode, I got an OFFManager error. "An error has ocurred initiating CFS3. Make sure your CFS3 CD is in your drive." It was and CFS3 is patched to 3.1a. "Exit and then try again. PatchDLL error. Game terminately prematurely. PatchMemorySync::Done TerminateProcess0 failed (5)" I've reinstalled OFF nearly a half dozen times already Too bad Eyefinity doesn't support XP. GRRRR!!!!!
  8. I'm drowning here people

Thanx, Lou. I had already read that thread....and a whole lot more. If I could get past an enlarged UI, I might get a handle on OFF. I've backed away from the problem and giving it a rest and maybe a different perspective. I could use a rest from it. I know it's doable.
  9. Eyefinity

Just for a lark, I recently built myself a new 'puter so I could run Eyefinity 3X1 landscape mode with Win 7 64 bit. It works, after much frustration. I put RoF on it and that works wonderfully. Next up was OFF P3. CFS3 works and OFF is installed and initialized. But flying in OFF comes to a screeching stop when the main UI loads. It's so big I have no access to the row of selections usually at the bottom. The resolution is as big as I can set it at 5760 X 1200. I'm using 3 identical 28 inch LCD monitors and RoF has no problem UI's. I've ticked OFF for "Run as Admin" and "XP SP3" for compatibility. DirectX is up to date. Anybody have any ideas? I read thru the pertinent threads here.
  10. I recently put together 3 monitors on a corner desk with a brand new computer AMD cpu build using 2 Radeon 5750 video cards in CrossfireX. I've got it working somewhat. At least I got one continuous desktop display across 3 monitors buy Win 7 calls it 2 displays rather than 3 and say one display is disabled. Does that make sense. I'm trying to understand Eyefinity so I can make bezel compensation. I can get it started but see now "next" button to go to the next stage. Has anybody made sense of AMD's for their Catalyst Control Center? I'm starting to begin regretting starting this foolishness. Anybody have any tips for an old man trying to decifer the manual? I just wanted to fly OFF and RoF on a wide screen.
  11. Triple monitors

I had most of what I needed already to build a triple monitor setup. So I decided to give it a try. The AMD Catalyst/Vision Control Center manual has got to be as long as a printed volume out of an encyclopedia set. And a bit obtuse, as well. Or maybe it's just that an old dog really can't learn new tricks. I've always had a hankering for the old sticks and cloth crates of WW1. Used to build balsa wood and tissue models of them when I was a kid in WW2. I found OFF phase 1 before it was finished by the developers and have been hanging in ever since. So thanx for your comments, fellars, and I'm back to the manual. Wish me luck.
  12. Training Campaign

Is there a way to refly the Training Campaign Missions without listening to E. Rick's chalkboard lesson again? I'm having problems getting that last hundred feet of climbing in Mission3. Or does someone have a clue for me?
  13. Training Campaign

Thanx, I have yet to finish reading the complete manual, so hadn't found the hot spot. Here it is Winter and I have too many irons in the fire. I wonder what it will be like come Summer. I had tried a serpentine ascent with no joy. I had thought a wide turning climb would take too much time.
  14. Undeniably, I've mostly been away from OFF for a few years. Real world problems to handle. Anyway I've tried to keep up with OFF. I started with the original Phase 1 and went on to Phase 2. I've got Phase 3 installed and have been working my way thru it and come across an anomaly. Take today for instance: I pitted myself in a Nieuport 11 Bebe against a Fokker EIII. Just the two of us. That AI EIII would drop to nearly the treetops and then soar up a couple of thousand feet with great ease. I'd stall out trying to keep up even half way. I reversed the roles and put myself in the EIII against the Bebe. Now the Bebe does the roller coaster soaring up and down, and I'm stalling and spinning out in the EIII. I've selected Veteran for sitation. In phases 1 & 2 I could could get on the enemies tail a fair amount of time. Not in Phase 3. Is this how it goes in QC now? Or am I missing something. I love these old crates. I started building tissue and balsa stick models of them back in WW2. I spent 20 years working on jets for Uncle Sam and have now reverted back to my original love. I regret never getting a pilots license when I had a chance, cuz I would've loved to build a flying replica of one these oldies. There used to be three replicas in a hanger outside of town where I used to live. The hanger burnt down and with it the replicas about 15 years ago. There was a DR1 in the hanger. So what am I doing wrong?
  15. Quick Combat

Thanx Lima, I'll try changing the settings you suggested and see what happens. I tried the EIII and Bebe originally becuz they're somewhat similiar in capabilities and wanted a balanced fight. It turned out more like a heavy weight fighter trying to corner a feather weight. An Irishman are you? My great grandfather came over to the US fleeing the potato famine. Thanx again for the input.
  16. Korat and Thuds. That brings back some memories. Sat out a year there at the tail end of the war. I was maintenance. Not flight crew. I'll be watching progress.
  17. Windows 7

For anyone else that might want to try OFF P2 & need MSSTDMFT.dll, here's a link. http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/M/MSSTDFMT.DLL/6.00.84506/download.html Cant remember for sure, but doesn't it need registering, also?
  18. I had BH&H on this machine for a while and decided to upgrade it to HitR. I already had the download but couldn't get the installer to work. I had a backup copy and that wouldn't work either. They weren't clickable. Went back to square one and reinstalled BH&H, which went fine. Still couldn't get HitR to install. I had kept the HitR files on a CD...in fact two discs. Neither worked. Transferred the file to a flash drive. Nada. About now I should say, I'm trying to install to an XP Pro 64 bit machine. Could that be a factor? I thought naught. After all, BH&H installed from disk just fine. I decided I had been frustrated enough and copied the OBD folder from another machine where HitkR was working in XP 32 bit . I deleted the files in the OBD folder in the stubborn 64 bit machine and replaced them with the newly copied files from the 32 bit machine. OFF is working fine now and upgraded to HitR also in the 64 bit machine. Anyone have a clue what I was doing wrong on the stubborn machine. It's an older ASUS SLI mobo with an Intell processor Core 2 Duo with 8 Gb's of RAM and 2 PNY video cards in SLI. The scenery is beautiful on a 40 inch Samsung LCD with sliders set at the high end. Thanx once again, fellars, for this wonderful sim.
  19. Fixed the problem, but.....

Uncleal, did you choose the 16X10 aspect ratio in the OFF workshop? That's what I'm using.
  20. Fixed the problem, but.....

Don't know what happened to your display, uncleal, but on mine, I chose the 16X9 picture size on the TV remote and the whole display is right up to the plastic frame all the way around. Haven't any black bars on any side or top or bottom.
  21. FE2 & Win 7

I installed FE2 on a Windows 7 machine and wonder if Jan Tuma's seasonal tiles can be made to work on such an installation. I know a number of people have it working on FE2 but not what versions of Windows.
  22. FE2 & Win 7

Thanx EZ, I'll give that a try.
  23. FE2 & Win 7

Okay, Geezer, found the Saved Games folder and dropped Terrains in with Tuma's files included and the new Cambrai and Verdun scenery showed up in FE2 when ran but not Flanders. Am I missing something? As one geezer to another, thanx for the heads up on this procedure.
  24. FE2 & Win 7

I'm not trying to be obtuse, but is this Mod directory created by the FE2 installer or do I create it? And where? I'm not up to speed on Windows 7's folder arrangement. I just installed Win 7 on newly built computer. Have been using XP for a few years after deciding I didn't like Vista.
  25. FE2 & Win 7

Thanx, Geezer, for the reply. I couldn't get Tuma's files to overwrite when I installed them. I'll work at it some more, knowing it can be done.
