These are desert skins for the stock TW F-4C/D, F-100D_64/68 and F-105D_66. The F-4 desert skins don't replace the stock ones in the game, so you can still use both. They refer to the same stock decals though. F-4 skins made with Sundowner's templates. F-100D skins made with hgbn's hi-res template. F-105D skin made with Sundowner last hi-res template (I included the bump maps) Installation: I made separate folders for the various aircraft types in which you'll find the desert skin folder. Paste the folder in the corresponding aircraft folder in your mod folder. That's pretty much it... Cheers -

French Super Sabres armement?
slick cowboy posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I've been flying the French F-100D again off late and I was wondering if the French didn't use french-made bombs and matra rocket pods to arm their Huns. I did some browsing on the net, but couldn't find anything... I assume the French would have started using French weapons after they left NATO, no?? -

And so SF2 decided to crash
slick cowboy posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Yesterday it was working fine. Now it crashes as soon I load a single mission or campaign. I'm pretty sure it's mod-related as I tested an unmodded SF2E and SF2V and they worked perfectly. I know I have to move the mod folder, run SF2 clean and then move back the mod folder. But I'm just wondering if this happened to somebody else before and if there's a less time-consuming way of sorting this out... It's pretty weird though... -
Desert Storm Part 1 For SF2

there's a typo in the nodes: In the nodes 28, 29 and 30 there's this: Al Basra Repbulician Guard Barracks I assume this has to be Al Basra Republican Guard Barracks or was the typo intended? -
modding DS to 1965 lack of CAS missions
slick cowboy posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
I've been playing around with the DS mod. I changed the campaign into a 1965 what if thing, even changed the objects in the targets.ini, etc. All good, but is it normal that there's little or no resistance on the Iraqi side when coalition forces start invading? I've had only one CAS mission and I'm about 20 missions in (i moved up the offensive date though and changed the dates for the ground forces in the data.ini as well). Everything is there, but practically no CAS missions. The coalition just keeps moving up the front line. Was this intended? I compared everything with the original DS campaign data.ini file, but I don't see anything different... I attached the Campaign data.ini. I only changed the start dates and obviously the units... Somehow the ground units don't clash... DesertStorm65_Data.zip -
modding DS to 1965 lack of CAS missions
slick cowboy replied to slick cowboy's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
I guess this went unnoticed or maybe my question wasn't clear (or stupid...). I copied everything from the original DS campaign, replaced the units, and changed to dates 1965. So it's pretty much the same, except for the start dates. But I only get two CAS missions in the entire campaign (and that's including AI). Is the game maybe only generating CAS missions when there's enemy resistance? Is it normal to have so few CAS missions? -

use metal for Libya desert airfield?
slick cowboy posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I'd like to use metal ramps and runway for the small FOB airfield used in the Libya. Well I actually want to use this to replace the FOB in the Desert Storm map (for an attempt at a 50's Desert Storm typa thing...) But I don't think it would be very realistic to have USMC A-4 for instance take off on a sand runway... I know that LOD file (LAIRFIELD3.LOD) refers to a couple of TGA, but can I replace these with matching metal BMP's? And can they be 1024 instead of the original 256? It would be a nice addition I think and could also be used in other maps. Any suggestions? -

use metal for Libya desert airfield?
slick cowboy replied to slick cowboy's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
The small airfield in Iceland would be a nice airstrip. But then we'd have to work with the Iceland tiles I guess... I'm just discovering this, so never mind if I ask stupid questions... -
Alternate TFD Terrain Tilemap editor/viewer
slick cowboy replied to gerwin's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I tried the last version... i wanted to flatten some terrain in the Desert Storm map, so I hit M go to a flat tile, hit C and then either it crashed when I move or it turns black. In the latter I can only toggle back to the tile map. Going back to Heightmap gives me a black map again... Bug? I tried the same on the Libya map and their the colours in the height map just disappear partially... -

These are three skins representing the 154th gruppo and 155th gruppo of the 6th Aerobrigata and the 101th gruppo of the 5th Aerobrigata. All three squadrons received the F-84F, replacing their F-84G's. The decals contains authentic serials most of which match the squadrons. It's not 100% historically accurate, but they look good over the Libya map. Install: Unzip and paste the F-84F folder (Objects/Aircraft/F-84F) in the corresponding folder in your mod folder. The Decals go into the corresponding Decals folder. Credits: TW for the F-84F. Ludo for the layered template that I used to make these skins.- 2 comments
