Getting waxed in Yom Kippur
RichardG replied to RichardG's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
So your saying you run recon missions with no pants? Wow, 53 A-4 losses. The info I found said Israel lost 99 planes in the whole war, so more than half were A-4 losses. List of losses on both sides: http://webspace.webring.com/people/qs/skythe/losses.htm -
I'm 3 missions into Yom Kippur flying the A-4, its been bone rattling. We're hitting our targets, but losing 3 planes and pilots per mission. I've come home with 2 damaged birds. The pilot roster is getting thin, and I'm not sure how many planes are left in the squadron. After hitting primary target, my wingmen like to stick around and play in SAM country, even when I order them back into formation or RTB. They're paying for it. I know Israel lost alot of planes in this war in the Sinai front, I didn't know it was so bad up north in Syria. I'm gonna look up A-4 losses.

Frame rate issues
RichardG replied to andqui's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I had bad stutters (real bad flybys) on my old Nvidia 9800gtx too, pretty much same system as you. I have ATI card with more video memory now, and it cleared things up. But for you, turn down Antialiasing to 4X, AF should be ok at 16. If you have large monitor, don't really need more than 4X anti-aliasing. Ingame settings...cockpit, shadows, effects, and horizon distance impact your frame more than anything else. Turn those down one by one. If you go lower than "high" in effects and shadows, I think the game turns off DX10 advanced shaders (it runs in DX9). You have a Q6600 man, thats one of the easiest, and most overclockable chips in existance. You can run it at 3Ghz with no problems. -
How not to help someone...
RichardG replied to FastCargo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'm pretty new to thirdwire games, and so far everyone here has been a huge help to me. Getting basic modding done, ironing out bugs and installs. TK is even quick to help if you have a problem. Definitely one of the friendlier flight communities I've seen. -
Yup, the only person I really feared in the Navy was our division Master Chief. We called him the Master Blaster (but not within earshot!).

Are you a military medic/corpman? In my line of work, ALS stands for advanced life support (what paramedics do). I took one promotional exam in the military, made the grade of e-4. Surprisingly I remembered everthing for A and C school and didn't have to study. No one really told me what to study anyway, its hard to do underway on deployment. Could have taken my e-5 exam, but my time was up and I decided to leave.

Ayes makes wide screen cockpits. Search for Ayes pits.

Its true. I read the subsim.com interview with the games developer. They didn't like the reaction it got from the forums, and had subsim pull half the interview (part about type VII only, and '43 ending) from the site.

I'm seeing this running stock SF2 Israel, with latest december patch. It shows up in all the SF2 games with overcast sky when ingame effects option is set to unlimited (Dx10 shaders). It clears up when effects are set to high (but then I get no pretty dx10 effects). This on an ATI 5850 with 9.12 drivers, Vista32. TK has been trying to help me. I tried a complete reinstall today, but its still looking ugly. I don't know if this is the game, or ATI drivers. Is anyone else running SF2 on the new ATI series 5800 cards?

Its definitely something with the mod. I disabled the mod folder, let the game create a new mod folder, and ran stock game with patch. The A-4C, A-4E, and A-4F are all ok. Also looked at the A-7, no problem there either. With the mod active, A-4E and A-4F missing tails, but all versions of A-4C are ok. I tried changing squadron and airforce markings in the loadout screen, that didn't help any. I'll look at more planes later.

I'm on Vista 32, with dx11. Advanced shaders are on when ingame graphic settings are high and unlimited, those are the settings I'm useing., and I havent done anything with the ini config file. I may do a seperate stock Vietnam2 install tommorow and see if the problem appears there, and/or with the december patch. Thanks for entertaining my inquiry.
