Cancelled DCS Super Hornet Discussion....
exhausted replied to EricJ's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series Modding/Skinning Chat
Eagle Dynamics is a company of crooks. They removed all things pertaining to the Ukrainian theater from their maps and and censor the hell out of their forum to protect their country's foreign policy. No self-respecting American would do that. They are a company of sleazy, time-wasting bandits who keep using kickstarters to rob their victims, one over-promised project at a time. If it wasn't for kickstarters, they wouldn't have a profit the way they run things. -
A Soviet test pilot F-5E evalution

Thanks a lot for posting this. It's amazing to learn that both sides had a healthy dose of arrogance when dealing with their enemy's equipment. -
Strike Fighters 2 Screenshots

Just got back into it. The MiG-21MF cockpit is magnificent. I had some great success with the MiG. I downed 6 F-4s, 2 A-4s and 3 Lightnings for 2 losses. Once you get into the groove then you are quite deadly. The trick is getting home once you cause a ruckus. Fuel becomes a problem as you try to dodge incoming missiles. -
It is a sad day to remember. But I wasn't even born at the time. For some reason I remember this date being emphasized and re-emphasized during boot camp. 241 is a big number, and it could realistically happen any day in any part of the world again.

The House's true intentions are just becoming clear. They never expected to defund the Affordable Care Act, only to use it to grab attention before negotiations over for their strange demands. The House Republicans are essentially using political terror on Americans in order to bring the President to the bargaining table over probably the same things they have wanted for 25 years. I don't like being pressured to react against the President anymore than a bull likes it's balls yanked at the rodeo. Now my beef with the Democrats is that they take their power for granted. I wish that Democrats could lose sight of their many and varied long-term objectives, and learn to act tactically and effectively. If the House was to vote today to pass the budget, the bill would pass, but John Boehner has no intention of holding that vote as long as he can cause more misery. John Boehner's only leverage is the misery he causes while you guys have to take your furloughs. I'm scared too because I receive the VA education benefits I earned 6 years ago. Democrats have everything they need to get their shit together, they just got too comfortable. Next year things will change. I just wish we had more than two parties to better represent our differing interests. A Texas Republican is not like a Maine Republican, they are just lumped together for funding and convenience. If we had a bicameral system (Congress) with many parties and the same intimacy as the British Parliament, I would really feel a whole lot better.

Italy also uses Harrier II+s! Very cool!!!

Hi SidDogg! Nice interview. I have liked the Crusader since New Year's Eve 1994's Discovery Wings marathon! I was 9 then, now I'm 27 and I still love the bird. My #2 was F-105, but that fell to the AV-8B, my baby while in the Corps. Nice interview, nice story. It's the perspective of an early, pre-9/11 millennial, and to me that's very unique and interesting.

F-15C also gets rumored for the scrap yard.....

Congress has to work for American's interest. If they make us vulnerable to foreign, or domestic enemies then they are no friends of mine. -
Croatian air force MiG-21 replacement
exhausted replied to Stipe's topic in Military and General Aviation
Phantoms would be a good idea. Reworks on wing spars and engines should be a requisite. The plus is that spares should be widely available. The F-4 would be a nice upgrade from the MiG reworks. -
F-22A chases off Iranian F-4s
exhausted replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
Watch out Iran. Your 21 flying F-14s aren't as cutting edge as they were even ten years ago. Your Phoenix and Sparrow batteries are dead -- boo, hoo. The radar signatures of every type of plane in your arsenal are recognized and logged -- exercise caution when turning them on. You're AD system will not see F-22s, B-2s, stealth cruise missiles, and will not kill anybody when they hit Predators. Your conscripted army will not support war with the USA because it will be laughably one-sided -- moral will go from bad to worse and your best and brightest will quickly surrender. Your pilots will all die and your sailors will be unemployed without any ships to man anymore. If you think sanctions are bad now, just wait until you can't export anything. Ayatollah, as your finger inches closer to the red button, just know you are perpetually only days from death. -USMC -
Interesting that the front canopy is frameless.

Sex scandals? We love sex in America. All kinds at that, so don't get bent out of shape when a warrior gets some on the side.

Too bad no Marines have made it into office. I recall John Glenn making it into the primaries in 1984. McCain has a son in the Marines.... I wonder why the Marines and possibly Coast Guard are the only ones left out of the White House. Wonder what would have happened with a Krulak, Giger, Puller, or a Glenn in the WH.

That is one of the most macbre funny things I've ever seen!

Yes I thank our military members, but I also thank the framers, the civil rights leaders, the law makers, and the community people who continue to make this country great on every level. Today is our birthday, and a reminder that we have fought to gain every single benefit we have today.

Is TK trying to see what he can salvage from a group he all but abandoned? Dramatic I know, but the romance between TK and his customer base has been trying at times. -
How did the B-52 tail gunsite work? Was it optical or radar or a combination?

Who says they won't take off? The West knows it can hand N Korea its own ass quickly, unless NK has another intervention by China. With logic, I can reasonably acertain that it may be BENEFICIAL to let N Korean jets take off en masse so there is no question of their intent at the UN. With no question to their intent the USA can gather a powerful and diverse coalition so it doesn't fight the war alone with the South Koreans. Another war is likely to drag the US economy down again and it only makes sense that since the UN fought united against the North until the cease fire was signed, that they will fight again once the cease fire is violated.

No I can't disagree that they look similar. They have front intakes, a nose cone to break up and control air flow into the engine, a single seat with similar canopy glass, sharply swept wings (though prototype MiG-21s didn't have the full delta the production models did), cylindrical fuselage, and a similar empenage. But the size and role of the two aircraft are completely different. Another comparison would be any two aircraft that vaguely look similar. To me, an Su-7 looks about as much as a MiG-21 as a KC-135 does to a B-52. But the KC-135 doesn't strike me as a B-52 wonnabe. But bleh, I'm really not trying to make it into a big deal.
-
Stipe, I disagree about the Su-7 because it filled a requirement unrelated to the MiG-21. Maybe the Su-9 and Su-11 were closer to MiG-21 wonnabes :) Vengeur, for the left the case against war may be peace, but for the right the case against war may be failure to understand why the west shall even care. The liberalized west (pretty much every democratic nation right now) still seems more than eager to confront Korean aggression. Either way, NK is playing with fire and a calm America shows its virtue as an independent and strong America. Once they overstep then it's on.
-
Stipe, I disagree. During a time of a shooting war I predict usage as this: Su-7: fast ground attack. Fly low in large numbers and drop bombs on bases housing US and SK tactical fighter-bombers. Q-5: carries bombs and flies fast, see above. Su-25: will be protected and dispersed. They will only be let out if, a) SK bases are taken out, crippling American response time, or b) N loses territory. H-5: will probably be expended in a low-level first strike on AD and supplies... one way trip F-7B: Just to tie up AD F-5: Tie up AD and low level strikes F-6: Tie up AD and low level strikes MiG-21PFM: Low level strikes on runways MiG-23: runways MiG-29: grounded unless SK runways are out of commission An-24: Grounded Tu-143: NK has UAVs? lol lawn darts L-39: low level strikes on DMZ area targets MiG-15: Decoys CJ-6: low level infiltration Il-76: grounded AN-2: low level deployment of specops
