Fuel tankage question...
Trotski replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I would say that generally 200 gallon tip tanks is about the norm, which is about 1340 lbs and looking at the way you have distributed it, and comparing to a Sabre, you have the ratios not far off, I reckon those amounts are most likely in Gallons . -

I am going to post this here, and I will possibly be reprimanded, however, I feel the need to state my feelings and views, I apologise if it ruffles any feathers, or presses the "wrong" buttons, so without further ado, I shall launch into my diatribe. I have only just recently returned to the world of SF2/FE2 after a 2 year hiatus, I am so happy that the community is still going, if not as strongly as it was, ( as there are newer and more "advanced" sims out there now) as we all know, there are a few aircraft, and campaigns that require the downloading of models from A-teams site. Now, when I was first into the Thirdwire sims, I of course registered with the A-Team site, and because I was a complete arse, I didn't read or take note of the rules and regs on that site, duly, I was leapt upon from a great height, and I deserved it as as I said I was being a total numskull. I was barred from the site, and that was an end of it. Now that was almost 4 years ago, and last month, I re-registered with the site, and was duly granted access. about 4 or 5 days later, I received an email from Capun, informing me I had be re banned , due to my previous mis demeanors, and I hadn't informed him that I had a prior ban, I replied to Mr Cesar, pointing out that as he was undoubtebly aware of this fact, I saw now cause to inform him of such, ( the prrof being , that he emailed me to tell me so ) I was then re granted access to the site but was limited to only 5 downloads per day, to which I agreed, as after all it is his site, and therefore his rules. Unfortunately, due to a mis count on my behalf, one day I downloaded 6 files instead of the stipulated 5, I wasn't even aware of the fact, until I realised I was yet again banned, and of course emailed Capun to enquire as to why, to which he replied, very tersely, that I had downloaded 6 files, and had thus broken my agreement. I emailed him back stating, that I was only aware of this fact because he told me so ( I hadn't even installed the dratted things) I informed Mr Cesar, that I suffer from P.T.S.D. and that sometimes my memory, or my attention span is affected, and that I hadn't done this deliberately, and was in error. However, the Great Mr Cesar, replied that he had heard all sorts of excuses , etc etc. and that the ban is final. I mailed him back stating, that Combat Stress is NOT an excuse, it is something that affects my judgement, concentration, and well pretty much everything. However, HWMBO. has chosen not to reply, Now, I appreciate there are rules and restrictions which he deems apparently paramount, however, I do feel he is slightly out of order here, we all know he can be a cantankerous, humourless, and sometimes rude individual, and I was quite willing to follow his strictures and enforcements ( even though I feel sure the issues he was having with all the downloading, which caused him to put the rules there in the first place, no longer are actually an issue) So there you have it, I am sure the ....gentleman....in question, will read this, and I hope he takes on board that I feel he is unjust, unfair, I also feel slightly put out that he thinks P.T.S.D. is merely an excuse. I think that being so precious about his beloved files is totally ridiculous, surely, as those files enhance a simulation, and in some cases are needed for certain campaigns (Armchair aces for example) Also, as those files are freeware, even if they do have certain "copyright" appendices, then surely logically they should be available to the general population........Sorry if I have ranted on somewhat here, but I feel really quite annoyed by this...gentleman....attitude. I am aware there was some sort of falling out betwixt he, and thee , reasons which I am not privy to, and reasons I feel should not concern me as an end user. So now, due to his ridiculous, and quite unwarranted banning, I am denied the pleasure of the likes of Armchair aces, or flying a Tweet in Vietnam. Anyhow, I could discourse on this ad nauseum, as it has really upset me, and I apologise if it is not an acceptable topic to post on here. however I felt I needed to put down in words, part of how I feel about this whole sorry affair. Upgraded to WIN10. Now jaggies appear
Trotski replied to FalconC45's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Do not upgrade to 10, its bloody awful, I upgraded when it was first released, and it screwed my whole system up, I think really it was meant as a replacement to Win 8 and Vista which are even worse, stick with Win 7 as long as you can mate, its stable and relatively bug free, win 10 is pointless for Win 7 users, unless you like all the bling and rubbish that MS include in it. -
As much as it irks me, But the Army pretty much fried the Air Force.......Of course this kind of confrontational behaviour would NEVER happen here in the UK.............much........well ok, maybe a little.........We call the army the Pongoes for a reason !!! hahaha

Skyraiders of the Lost Pits
Trotski replied to yubba's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Now now guys, lets be nice shall we. Yubba, biting back at comments made by someone voicing their opinion, is , rather I would think, something that should be confined to PM land, I would also say that I would also be a little peeved by Ceasars comment, or at least, the way he voiced them, maybe he should have voiced said opinions in a PM to you, as it does seem a little bit like a rap across the knuckles from a School Teacher who is having a bad day. However, if a little terse, they are his opinion, and he has the honesty to say what he feels about whatever it is all about. So, good and bad on both sides .......That is my honest opinion by the way, I am just saddened when I see things like this , which could escalate out of hand and get ......childish. But anyhow, I hope I haven't rubbed either of you up the wrong way. Just saying it as I see it. -
need some help please
Trotski replied to KnightWolf45's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Excellent mate !! -
Ok, so, I am currently working on an Avia B-71 , all the skin files are in DDS format, the markings were painted on, and I have removed them and re done all the panel lines and rivets, and it all works fine and dandy. Now, I am trying to get the decals to appear ( as if by majjik ) on the tail surfaces and the wings, however....yup you guessed it ......not a hope in merry hell, however, the fuselage decals , work like a Sheep lovers wet dream !! so, how does that compute ? all 3 skin files are DDS, and the decals are TGA's so, my question is, how the bloody 'ell do I get the darn things to show up on my lovingly and patiently re done wings, failing that, how do I go about converting the skins to JPG's so that they actually work, and not just give me the Black skin of death .......or may it be because the aircrafts lods are only hardwired to accept DDS format skins ? I really dislike DDS, its pointless, and JPG format is so much better grrrrr ( RANT RANT, Rave, Swear, Curse ) and why then in this case, if conversion to JPG is not possible, do decals show up on fuselage, but not on the flying surfaces....ARRRRRGHHH DDS !!! hate hate hate. OK....I'm calm now, taken my meds

DDS Conversion troubles ( YEP more tales of woe and misery )
Trotski replied to Trotski's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Thankfully DDS isn't utilised that much , it only seems to be present on older SF1 files some of which have been ported over to SF2 , I just find them awkward to work with. -
DDS Conversion troubles ( YEP more tales of woe and misery )
Trotski replied to Trotski's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Yeah I have given up trying to convert them, but anyhow, they still work just fine as DDS files, it just a matter of getting used to working with them, I have found that Paint.net handles DDS files just fine for editing, no plugins that don't work are needed, installed the plugin for Gimp though and that seems to work ok, but I only use Gimp for decal making at the moment, the bbad thing about paint.net is that it is a bit simplistic compared to PSP. But anyhoo, your advice about the LOD viewer worked like a dream, I hadn't used it before, and I wasn't aware of how simple it makes life !! So thanks for that particular heads up mate !! -

Trotski replied to Spudknocker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
There is a web site, but it is mainly an in memorium one now , they use our very own CA as a home base it would seem , which is fantastic, I have been watching the work they are doing and its bloody great.....looking forward to it being released, but as with all things its a labour of love . -

DDS Conversion troubles ( YEP more tales of woe and misery )
Trotski replied to Trotski's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Well blow me down and bugger me blind with a wet Haddock !! I never knew it was so easy to use that bit o' kit !! thanks buddy, yet again you have unerringly pointed me in the correct and most likely, most obvious direction, the node name was wrong, I was going by the names on the existing decal.ini, so assumed that they were correct.......again it proves, one must NEVER assume....as there is always an ASS in assume !! This is why I lurrrrrve this site, you chappies are all so helpful , and non precious about stuff....unlike other Wankspangles who shall remain un named . Thanks again mate, I was ripping my hair out, and that's hard with a crew cut hahahaha. -

Trotski replied to Trotski's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Well I know for sure its not the TGA's as they are all fine in everything else I am using, so I would be inclined to go with option 1/3 it's just I prefer my decals to be decals, I hate painted on markings and use them as little as possible, and this AVIA, had bloody huge Czech markings on lol . I shall trie the LOD doodad, never used one before, so be prepared for more moans and whines from this corner of the naughty step And furthermore.....DDS blows !! don't effing well use it...its shit !! and I have at least another 3 bloody aircraft to do that are in DDS ARRRRGH !! need more JD !! -
hehehehe that looks cool as beans mate !

Engine sounds
Trotski replied to Trotski's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
yes indeed I am, I seem to have sorted that problem now with the idle RPM tweak. as for some of the entries on the sound list.ini, the last 5 entries are self explanatory ie, they specify where and how you hear different sounds, the looped entry is just that, it loops the sound, 3d and Doppler yup think we all pretty much get those 2 as well, its just the priority and the number buffers that don't mean anything to me.
