All good advice you're getting here, Klewer. I'm relatively new here but this level of help/advice is what you come to expect from these guys. As far as difficulty settings go, although there is a steep learning curve there are enough "easy" settings to allow you to get used to it no problem. You'll love it - real immersive.

Good advice - I hadn't thought of that. It just gets better.

1969 Marcos GT 3 litre V6. Wooden chassis. A real head-turner and stuck to the road like glue.

Hi all. When I first got OFF I set the pilot to "Never Die" in Workshop untill I got used to the sim a bit. Now I feel ready to take it to the next step - "Normal, Die roll on death" - but I can't seem to kill my pilot. When I crash I suddenly find myself 2000 ft up again . Do I have to reset all the Workshop settings and start again or create a new pilot with the new settings? I've had a look through Tips etc. and the hrlp/faq pages but can find no info.

Thanks, it was the invincibilty check box - didn't see that one....Doh.

I had a similar problem initially. Do what Von Paulus suggests - worked for me:good:

Dual Core Processors and CFS3/OFF ?
tranquillo replied to Barkhorn1x's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
I've got OFF running on Win 7 64bit no problem. Make sure to set OFF and CFS3 to run as administrator. I've got dual core also - no problem. -
Great...eventually got my joystick and went for a free flight. After several minutes flying (25 min?) I chose to end the flight and OFF seemed to hang for ever. I had to resort to ctrl+alt+del to get me to my logon screen (I'm running windows 7). Does this mean that when I fly "for real" that my flight will not be recorded or is this "hang" normal and I should have waited it out? Terrific sim and the learning curve looks so steep it's almost vertical - going to have some great fun with this.l

I've just started out with OFF and have bought a Thrustmaster T . 1600m joystick. I run win 7 64bit and on Trustmasters website they only list a beta driver for this OS and the stick is listed as only compatible with XP/Vista. Just thought I'd let you know that I just plugged the stick in and windows found a driver straight away - no need for the Thrustmaster driver.

Thanks guys. I've changed OFF and CFS3 to run as administrator and all seems to be OK now. I have read the FAQ and the stickies but there is so much information contained in both that I must have missed this. Thanks for your help and sorry if I've wasted your time.

Thanks for the reply. I hit Esc then chose "End Flight", got the screen that says "are you sure" and then it all went black except for the little blue circle. I'm not running as Administrater, only in XP sp3 compatability mode. Interestingly when I opened the Task Manager it didn't show OFF as running.

What joystick do people recommend for OFF? I was donated a Logitech Attack 3 when I got OFF but it looses calibration in about 2 seconds flat. Seems to be a problem with this model. I'm thinking of getting one with HAT. By the way my main problem is I'm left-handed and it's not easy to get a stick that's comfortable. There must be someone else here that is likewise afflicted.

That's interesting, thank you.

Hi people, I've got my CFS3 (CD version) sitting here and I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of my OFF from the States - I live in UK. Any advice on installation and set up would be gratefully received. From what I've seen in these forums OFF seems to run on Win 7 64bit OK? If not I've got dual boot with XP sp3 32bit but would prefer to use 7. My rig is: Amd PhenomII X2 550 3.1 gig Does a dual core pose a problem? Ati raedeon 4830 4gb ram. I can't wait to get going on this sim. I fly model aircraft as a hobby and my favourite plane is the Sopwith Pup I've just finished building - soon to be joined by a DR1. I just love this era - the early days of flight. Brilliant.

Yep, got all of that and now await my Thrustmaster T.1600 stick. They do a beta version of the driver for win 7 so hopefully that'll be OK.

I hear what your saying, uncleal, but if lefty sticks are available I'd rather get one. Even if by buying a RH one I'd be getting a better stick. Better to use a bad stick with my L hand than a good one in my R hand. I've been left handed for more years than I care to think about and by the time I learnt to use my right with the same efficiency I'd be too old to play :-(( If I was unfortunate enough to be in your position then, of course there would be no other option. Thanks all for your input.

I think padals and TrackIR are the way to go for me but I'll have to save up for them. I'm currently looking at the Saitek evo force as a possible joystick. I agree with uncleal that sensing the stall before it happens can be crucial - I know this from my RC experiences.
-
I'll do that, the latest CC I've got is Nov last year. Not too ancient but I'll update anyway. There's enough info in the forum and OFF site to keep me busy trying different variations until I hit the jackpot. Can't do anything 'till I get a new joystick though - this one I've got hasn't got any right aileron!
-
Thank you, you're a star. Not at all obvious but it's there.

1. Nothing there. I can change the screen resolution, AA, and set the sliders but no mention of overides. Am I doing something wrong? I've checked through the forum and OFF site but can't find an answer. 2. Yep, got that, thanks.

It's a 1/6 scale model. Unfortunately, although my workshop is big enough to build them, I haven't got the room to store 1/4 and 1/3 scale. I'm currently building a plane that's "vintage looking" with an open rear fuselage, next will be a DVII. Not long ago I attempted a build with working wing warping instead of ailerons. Flew OK but was very slow to respond to stick input.

I've already put TrackIR on my birthday list. I can't stretch to it at the moment what with my daughter about to start University:no2: Can't seem to get the emoticons to come up - just the text?????????

Well......guess what arrived in the post today? I have local mail that takes longer to get to me than that. All installed OK. A couple of problems though. 1. The keys for changing view "shift + number key" don't work and I'm confined to "eyes front" 2. Can anyone recommend a good joystick? I'm using an old Logitech Attack 3 which was donated to me but it doesn't seem to like to "attack" - it throws me into an uncontrollable spin and doesn't respond when I try to correct it. Apart from that it all looks great. By the way Dej, where do I look for "Overides"?

Whoops!! got that last post wrong. I'll get the hang of it one day.

What a great bunch you are - much helpful information. I'll let you know when I'm set up, Olham. BirdDogICT, I've been thinking about overclocking ever since I built this rig but it all seems a bit too technical for me. Once I've read a bit more I'll have a go but am quite happy with the performance so far. Thanks again everyone.
