I too just experienced this while responding to a thread and it looks like this!!
But shouldn't there be an Albatross in the crosshairs!!!!
That's the Critter!
But where do they come from ... and where do they go?
-
Now I really have to start convincing every one we need a new computer!
(err ... a big medally ... jettish kind of thing just appeared under my name - gave me quite start!)
-
I have never heard of these before, but I love that such a system existed. If today had been April 1st I'm not sure I would have believed it.
-
Still checking in most days.
-
I believe one, or possibly more, versions of the BE2 were known as the 'Quirk'.
My dad used to refer to the Bristol Fighter as a 'Brisfit', but I don't know if that would have been used during WW1.
-
Thanks for posting these Shiloh. As a one time Civil War wargamer, I found them very interesting. Makes me want to get the 'Fire and Fury' rules out again.
-
I think 290 days will elapse. That will be April 1st 2014.
Oh damn ... then I won't know whether the announcement is real or not!

Hasse Wind: So you think having all those 120 minute lunch 'hours' could have been my undoing?
Brain32, Migbuster: Thanks for your suggestions. This is probably one job I wouldn't risk getting the sack from. Had it been some of the previous one's though ...
UK_Widowmaker: You can't be that bad, you play OFF!
-
Proxy surfing? That of course will be slower but still manageable
Proxy surfing ... ? Please enlighten a poor IT illiterate!

We have always been allowed to to use the internet for non-business at lunch times. A few weeks ago we even got upgraded and I could finally play videos posted on this site without having to wait until I get home.
Now they've got some new filtering software and I can't view either of the OFF sites at all! Apparently they are classed under 'Game' and therefore a threat. I can't work in these Dickensian conditions!
Curiously the SAS website for IL2 Mods seems to be deemed safe at present, I hope it's not an indication of bias in our IT providers!

Thanks Hauksbee and Olham. When you see how much work went into them, it seems criminal that they ever had to get shot at!
-
That is a fine photograph. I love the finish of the fuselages. It is just varnished natural wood isn't it?
-
Another really interesting video. Thanks Olham.
I liked seeing the two 'authentic' shadows on the ground as well.
Is the lever on the top wing to operate the radiator shutters?
-
Saw it at last! (Stupid work's security software!) The early war two seaters are completely undermining my resolve to try a later scout campaign, and I find I am already humming Matt Milne's music ...

Many thanks, I must be getting old age symptoms. I should have caught that. Lack of due diligence on my part!
RJW, that one caught me out as well, once, after I had done a reinstall. I must have selected fuel and bullet load out when I first installed OFF, and then took it completely for granted.

The issue is that when JSGME is inside the "CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields" subfolder it's unable to mod the "WW1Scenery" folder, which a number of mods from myself and Bletchley do.
As HPW mentioned, I put together an installer than automatically places the most recent version of JSGME in the correct version for all modern OFF mods. The link to it at Combat Ace is right on the OFFbase download page (I know it's long but read it, guys!). It's also now available at SimHQ. Just run the JSGME_2.6.0_OFF.exe and you're good to go. It's okay to leave old copies of JSGME in other folders unused.
Thanks Lothar, and Herr Prop-Wasche. I realised I had forgotten to ask what to do about the old copy of JSGME.
-
Lothar, Like several others I haven't been flying OFF (or any other sim) just lately, but the descriptions of OFFbase et al. are really tempting. I currently have JSGME v2.6.0.157 installed actually in the 'CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields' folder (I am sure someone must have said to put it there - I would never have dared do anything with it that I hadn't read) where it seems to run the few mods I use correctly.
If I understand right, to use Offbase, OFFice etc. JSGME needs to be just in 'OBDSoftware', alongside 'CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields' as it were.
I just wanted to check a couple of points;
Is this version of JSGME 2.6.0 ok, or is there a more recent version that would be better to download?
If it's ok, can I just move it outside 'CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields', or is this liable to cause problems with the mods I am using at the moment?
Thanks,
Wayfarer

Very good! Just for an instant there, when I saw the title ...
My wife thought the 25th was funny as well ... you know ... in that 'many a true word spoken in jest' kind of way.
-
Oh man! Just keep safe over Christmas, and hope you get better really soon.
-
Yes, a Merry Christmas to all OFFers!
-
53 and a half - a very representative OFFer!
DoctorQuest: Your kids have moved out - you lucky so and so! Our many* daughters are still nominally at home, although they are almost never all at home at any one time any more.
*They tell me that there are only 3 of them, but I have waited for them all to finish using the bathroom before now and only 'many' people could possibly take that long!

The first and second picture show a Roland C.II "Walfisch", which entered service in spring 1916.
....
But in the air, you can fly
the "Walfisch" (whale) much like a fighter. A dangerous craft!
Indeed! In my BE2 campaign they gave me more trouble than the Eindeckers. They appear more manouverable, and with that rear gun can get you from a whole range of angles.
-
All I can say, is that when all else failed, and I ran out of Jameson to drink, my flight sims have kept me sane. Somehow, as stupid as it sounds, just being able to fly a patrol got my mind off the hell that I've been in for the last five weeks.
Doesn't sound stupid at all. I've always said OFF is good therapy.

Hihi - I also like one from Andy Capp:
His wife Flora (or: Flo) tells him that the butcher got cheeky and made approaches to her ;
and she asks Andy what to do now.
Andy says: Well, I think you should go out and mow the lawn.
She asks: "Well, do you think that is gonna stop him?"
Andy replies: "No! But it'll wipe that smirk off yer clock."
Olham, I'm amazed you know Andy Capp!

That explains it then ... and it looks like the medals are displaying now. Thanks RAF_Louvert.
