How do you get a different cargo/transport aircraft to show up in a campaign?

SF2 DLC #28: F-104A Starfighter Skins Pak, Part 2
Slant6 replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Hi Wrench Installed the SFG Zipper (G version) cockpit to the SF2 F-104G per your instructions and it works fine. But is there much difference avionics and radar-wise between the SFG cockpit, and what would be appropriate for the SF2 CF-104, F-104A and F-104C? Thanks. S! -
Razbam Banshees

There are a lot of pixels in that Banshee. Make sure you've got the stuff to run it smoothly. -
Hi. Built my desktop in October 2012. Among other things, I'm running a Pentium G860 dual core CPU (3.0ghz) and GTX 650 DD5 video card. Thinking about replacing cpu with a used i5 2500 (ca. $120). Is this a good idea? Will I notice much of a difference in SF2 and in other areas? Thanks!

SF2 : NA worth it?
Slant6 replied to Emp_Palpatine's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
The terrain that comes with SF2NA is bloated, poorly optimized, whatever you want to call it. But there's a third-party terrain for it on CA that runs like butter even on my system (Pentium G860 dual core and GTX 650 vid). Muuch better. -
Strike Fighters 2 Performance

Love SF2, but let's face it, it's not all that well optimized. And the patches close one can of worms, only to open another. -
STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 PATCHING

The latest patch is july 2013. But I find nov. 2011 works best for me. -
Does hyperthreading work on SF2 sims; has anyone used an i3 ivy or sandy with SF2?
Slant6 replied to Slant6's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Really. Because right now I'm using a Pentium G860 sandy bridge 3.0ghz dual core (bascially a sb i3 with no hyperthreading). So if that's true (and I'm sure it is), and you've got a late patch on your SF2 suite, then there's no need to upgrade to an i3 or i5 if SF2 is your main game. -
A-7P New DLC
Slant6 replied to paulopanz's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Just what we need. A Portuguese A-7. Why not a flyable F-84F or Vampire? Would that make too much sense? -
Flying the F-4C (67) in some of the SF2 desert missions. The centerline fuel tank is always there, even when SUU gunpod is mounted. So you have a centerline fuel tank that fires! Installation is clean, no mods at all, and patched to Nov. 2011. Ordinary F-4C doesn't have this problem, just the (67). Looked at loadout and data inis for both these aircraft and found no difference in attachments etc. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.

SF2NA Iceland Classic TFD/HFD terrain
Slant6 replied to gerwin's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Knowledge Base
This terrain is a godsend. Much better than the stock Iceland terrain. Makes A-7 campaigns playable now. -
Mostly play 3 games on my PC. NFS Shift (dual core) Il-2 (single core) and SF2 (dual or more core). First 2 are fine on my system (SB G860 with GTX 650 video card). SF2 is usually good, but sometimes bogs down when game throws lots of planes up, or in Vietnam campaign (the worst of the bunch IMO performance-wise). Will I notice much of a change if I replace the G860 (3.0ghz sandy dual core) with an i5-2380p (3.1 w/ 3.4 turbo) or am I wasting my money here? Thanks.

dual core or quad core!
Slant6 replied to irati's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Maybe an older ATI Card with older drives might not do that but it is documented nonetheless. When I had an Ati card (an HD 6750 with DDR3 memory--kinda slow), if I was patched to November 2009 I didn't have trouble with vsync. Any newer patch than that I was locked in. -
dual core or quad core!
Slant6 replied to irati's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
OK, well, I've got a Pentium G860 sandy bridge dual core @3.0 ghz, 8GB ram and a GTX 650 video card. The video card is more powerful than an HD 4850, uses less energy and (because it's Nvidia) doesn't lock you into vsync like AMD does. Cutting edge system? No, but far more powerful than my old socket 939 rig! Still chokes a bit when the game throws a s--tload of planes into the mix, or on some Vietnam missions (and let's face it, Thirdwire + Vietnam = poorly optimized). May pop in an i5 ivy bridge one of these days--maybe that'll help. -
New to FE2. Great sim, but finding it hard to succeed in a mission to shoot down a flight of AEGs. I can knock out both engines on several of them, and then warp back home. But when I hit esc, I find the mission failed and I didn't shoot any down. What do you do to kill those monsters? Thanks.
-
What does it take to destroy an AEG bomber?
Slant6 replied to Slant6's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Oookay, maybe I should hang around to see if they crash before I warp out. But if they crash land, will that count as a kill, or do I have to strafe them? -
dual core or quad core!
Slant6 replied to irati's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
GodsLT. That's true, but when SF2 decides to throw thirty-odd planes into the battle all at once (SF2E and SF2 especially will do that), a stronger CPU will move all that along more quickly. -
Running GTX 650 video card with latest (310.90) driver. SF2 (patched to Nov, 2009) looks fine except when (stock) sky overcast--and especially if raining-- is confetti-like shimmering artifacts where overcast sky meets horizon. Noticed it somewhat on older ATI card, worse now. No other problems on SF2 or any other game. Anyone else notice this? Thanks.

Just found out that 2010 patches fix this. -
FPS are locked at 58.8 with Radeon 6750.

Just put my first desktop together. Windows 7 64. Pentium G860 sandy bridge 8gb ddr3 and HD 6750 video card. Big change from old socket 939! But even with wait for vertical refresh (ATI-speak for vsync) turned off I don't get beyond 60 FPS in SF2. Doesn't matter if graphics are low or high. Running catalyst 12.4. SF2 has a 2009 patch (I forget the month). Any way to fix this? Thanks. -

Slant6 replied to Slant6's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Hey, Wrench! Please see my follow-up post regarding help for the vsync impaired. Once I installed the Nov 2009 version of SF2I, all was fixed. No more fps cap and SF2[everything] runs like a scalded cat. So, hopefully, the ATI bug hath not returned. -
I posted yesterday, compaining that my fps was locked at circa 60 fps, even though I had "wait for vertical refresh" forced off on my ATI 6750. Well, at the time I had SF2, SF2V and SF2E installed. When I installed SF2I, all my problems vanished. Framerates are MUCH, MUCH higher, game loads MUCH faster; it's almost a miracle. Obviously, there was a patch in SF2I to fix all that. Thanks to TK for that, and thanks to y'all for all your help.
