Panama, thanks! Good name by the way. Reminds me of a New Riders of the Purple sage tune from way back when. -

Well I just thought it odd, that's all. I had vsync turned off with my Win xp old 939 system and 7900 GT, and thought I'd do the same here. -
Just installed campaign6 of Malibu43's SF2 desert campaigns with carriers into my merged setup. Works fine, except that the F-14A's individual numbers don't show up in campaigns--they DO in single missions, though. I put the line startnumber=1 in the campaigndata.ini, but it didn't help. What should I do?

Bringing in aircraft from WOI 56 suez addon to SF2I
Slant6 replied to Slant6's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Works like a charm!! The trick is to update SF2 Israel to May 2010-b patch. That must make it able to read the bitmapping. It CAN be done! -
Bringing in aircraft from WOI 56 suez addon to SF2I
Slant6 replied to Slant6's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
In addition to the $25 for the Exp Pack addon (by itself not such a big deal) I'll have to upgrade my mobo, cpu (from single core to multicore) OS (xp to 7) memory, video card (DX 10 capable) etc. etc., since if Exp 1 is updated to 9/2011, and optimized for multicore, it'll run like a slug on my system. I'd rather not spend the 400-500 dollars this would entail. I'm just looking for help here. By the way, I own ALL of the SF series (all the 1s and 2s, plus FE1), all of which I bought and paid for. TK is the greatest, but I'm just looking for some help from you experts, and avoiding an expensive upgrade for the time being. Thanks. -

1. Why spend $25 dollars if I don't have to? 2. Exp pack 1 is probably patched to Sept. 2011 and would bog down my system (single core cpu, windows xp, GT 7950 video card). -
Crashing Campaign :(
Slant6 replied to aceahsen2's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I've got the same problem. Always happens around 6/8/67 when Arabs take Dan or Jerusalem. Anyone figure this crashing problem out yet? -

I get the same crash. Has any one figured out why this campaign crashes after 6/8/67 or thereabouts? -
MiG-19P/PM/PT SFP1 conversion pack
Slant6 replied to Spillone104's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Great work, Spillone, but one question. Would it be possible to make the "cabina" reflect the fact that the Mig-19 has 2 engines (in other words add the relevant gauges)? -

Best Patch for SF2 family for me--Dec. 2009
Slant6 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I have a older rig with an AMD Athlon 4000+ cpu (socket 939) OC @ 2.83ghz, 2GB DDR, audigy 2 value, and a 256MB GeForce 7950 GT video card. State of the art. Seriously, after some experimenting (and uninstalling/reinstalling SF2 games), I have concluded that the Dec. 2009 patch provides the best balance of graphical quality, gameplay, and smooth framerate. I've found that the June 2010 patches only slow the framerate, and, annoyingly, cause sound pauses when speech kicks in. With the Dec. 2009 patch, these games run better than their first generation ancestors patched to Oct. 2008. I may take all of them off my hard drive, except WOI, simply because it has the Suez add-on. Just wondering if anyone else with similar specs has reached the same conclusion, and whether my experience will be different when (if) I upgrade to a quad-core DX10 system. S! -
Two silly questions
Slant6 replied to Emp_Palpatine's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I like the rearview command. It defaults to shift + F5; I just changed it to F4--it wasn't doing anything else. -
Stumbled upon something called maxsecondarystrikes=[0,1 etc.] that I think limits the number of aircraft appearing in a campaign. Is this what it does, and if so, is it only for SF2? Why was this not mentioned in any readmes? Is it like the config.ini commands in Il-2FB that limit the amount of planes in a campaign, improving framerate and if so, is it the only way to do so? Thanks.

Thanks. Reckon it's time to upgrade my Socket 939 Athlon 64 system! -
Expansion pack 2 is out!
Slant6 replied to Paladrian's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
So this expansion pack supports quad and multi-core processors. Does the original SF2 series support at least dual core processors or only single-core CPUs like SF1 did? -
