  1. Should the new MOH be banned?

When I play Il-2, I'm usually flying either on the communist or Nazi side. Like other folks have said, it's a game.
  2. Have been using some of mytai01's F-4B skins on WOV (patched to 8/30/06). Great skins, except in any flight, some planes will have black noses (correct) others will have the default white nose. Must be a decal issue. Any idea how to fix? Thanks.
  3. After four years of playing WOE, I finally realized that the roundels and finflash on the Hunter FGA 9 are wrong for the time periods in which they are used. Low-visibilty RAF roundels and finflashes are generally seen starting in the early 1970s (maybe VERY late 60s). Thus, the early-RAF roundels and finflash should be used for 1962 and 1968. To fix this, simply open the folder for RAFcamo (or whatver the stock Hunter skin is called), open decals.ini, find the words "insigniaLV" or "finflashLV" at the ends of paths, and simply delete the "LV", so they read as "insignia", "finflash". This will give you the proper markings for early-mid 1960s RAF Hunters.
  4. Don't Be this guy....

Looks like a overstuffed duffel bag.
  5. Figured out what was wrong. There are too many decals per mesh (or however you say it). The decal herd should be trimmed.
  6. Hi Paulo I installed this skin as instructed--and put all decals in decal folder, and yet the MiG-21F-13, when using this skin, appears blotchy, and the decals do not appear on it. I'm using it in WOE, patched to 8/30/06 thanks.
  7. Actually this skin, and the skins with MF's french F-100D on C6 work fine with the stock F-100D. Just change paths in decals from F-100D-mf to F-100D. By the way, other French F-100D skins (esp. of the early 60s silver persuasion ) would be much appreciated!
  8. In a long campaign like Burning Sands, a US navy fighter squadron (e.g. VF-41) would not stay on the same carrier for ever. In actuality, VF-41 moved from CV-62 to CV-42 around 1970. Is it possible to set up such a transfer in SFP1 in campaigndata.ini? Thanks.
  9. Aha! I didn't know that. Just shows the US Navy wasn't all about conformity! I knew about the decallevel=2; I couldn't believe that mytai01 could have left in a glitch, as his work is so outstanding. Now I don't have to worry about fixing what ain't broken. Thanks.
  10. So even in the same squadron there might be some with black noses, some with white, but all other livery the same?
  11. Downloaded MF's A-7E from CA. Great bird, but I can't get the radar to work. Any hints? Thanks.
  12. Tried it. Works for all other planes but not that. Same problem with MF A-7D. Is there an .ini fix?
  13. I want to use the stock WOV F-8E (the MF F-8 hits my framerates) over to SF Gold. I used cat extractor to merge the WOV and SFG objectdata.cat files and have the merged file in SFG. I also brought over decals from WOV to the decals SFG folder, and of course copied the F-8E folder from WOV to SFG. Plane works fine--except that decals (except insignia don't show up). What should I do?
  14. Thanks to you all, especially Wrench. The squadron number (the one on the squadron.ini list) is the key. Once you add that to every line in the decal file you are good to go. You don't even need a separate d folder in the skin--it pulls them from the main decal folder. Problem solved.
  15. OK, I'll keep trying. But I merged the SFG and WOV objectdata.cat files using cat extractor. Besides, how will I know which squadron-specific markings to put in "d"? The "hot rod" skin, for example, is an old VF-84 skin (that actually belonged on a F8-C). I guess it's the "Helen Keller" method of just trying different ones until they work.
  16. I tried a couple that are "loc'ed" for the winglet, but so far no joy. The decals.ini path in the stock crusader skins don't even have paths--and they seem to find the decals just fine in WOV, but not in SFG, even though the decals folder in the objects folder has them all (I think)
  17. I'm in the mood to upgrade--but on a budget. Right now I have an athlon 64 3200+ 2MB ram, windows xp sp3, 256mb 7950GT video, audigy2 etc. Thinking about putting this combo together:http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.359138 and putting 7950GT and audigy2 into it. Athlon II x2 245 regor should be a considerable improvement over 3200+ (2.9ghz vs 2.0ghz); dual core useful for other things down the line, plus I can always upgrade cpu later. Am I on the right track?
  18. When playing a stock Rolling Thunder campaign in WOV (patch 8/30/06), at least "long" and starting in 1965, even when flying an F-8E or F-4B/D eventually MiGs don't show up any more, and I'm reduced to blasting warehouses and fuel tanks over and over and over. Did TK do this on purpose, or is it a bug in the stock RT campaign? Thanks.
  19. Thanks! It makes sense now. I guess I'll be flying RT missions as short--unless I'm driving an A-6A, then not having MiGs around will be nice.
  20. A few years back someone (I forget who and where) posted a VIETNAMSEA_TARGETS.INI file for WOV that cut down drastically on the framerate-killing SAMs which infest that game. IMO it makes WOV much more playable. Should I submit this file--and where should I send it? Thanks.
  21. Wrench Thanks much for figuring this out. In the meantime I stumbled on a workaround. Paste this over your decal file for VF-11: [Decal001] MeshName=Nose DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=Insignia Position=2.4,0.285 Rotation=358 Scale=1.9 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal002] MeshName=Nose DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=Insignia Position=2.4,0.285 Rotation=002 Scale=1.9 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal003] MeshName=Wing_Left DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=Insignia Position=-5.5,0.20 Scale=1.8 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal004] MeshName=Wing_Right DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=Insignia Position=5.5,0.20 Scale=1.8 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal005] MeshName=Wing_Left DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=F-2H2/VFA-11/D/NAVY Position=-5.5,0.25 Scale=3.6 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal006] MeshName=Wing_Right DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=F-2H2/VFA-11/D/T Position=5.5,0.035 Scale=4.5 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal007] MeshName=Fuselage DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=F-2H2/VFA-11/D/NAVY Position=-4.5,0.6 Rotation=358 Scale=3.1 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal008] MeshName=Fuselage DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=F-2H2/VFA-11/D/NAVY Position=-4.5,0.6 Rotation=002 Scale=3.1 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal009] MeshName=Nose DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=F-2H2/VFA-11/D/RipperE Position=3.2,0.55 Rotation=358 Scale=0.80 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal010] MeshName=Nose DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=F-2H2/VFA-11/D/RipperE Position=3.2,0.50 Rotation=002 Scale=0.80 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal011] MeshName=Tail DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=F-2H2/VFA-11/D/T Position=-6.3,2.1 Scale=6.0 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal012] MeshName=Tail DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=F-2H2/VFA-11/D/T Position=-6.3,2.1 Scale=6.0 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal013] MeshName=Rudder DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=F-2H2/VFA-11/D/MBuNoH Position=-5.55,1.25 Scale=2.4 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal014] MeshName=Rudder DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=F-2H2/VFA-11/D/MBuNoH Position=-5.55,1.25 Scale=2.4 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal015] MeshName=Nose DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=F-2H2/VFA-11/D/NoseNum Position=4.0,0.275 Rotation=358 Scale=3.0 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal016] MeshName=Nose DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=F-2H2/VFA-11/D/NoseNum Position=4.0,0.275 Rotation=002 Scale=3.0 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal017] MeshName=Wing_Right DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=F-2H2/VFA-11/D/NoseNum Position=4.65,0.1 Scale=3.3 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal018] MeshName=Tail DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=F-2H2/VFA-11/D/NoseNum Position=-6.4,3.175 Scale=1.0 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal019] MeshName=Tail DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=F-2H2/VFA-11/D/NoseNum Position=-6.4,3.175 Scale=1.0 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal020] MeshName=Tail DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=F-2H2/VFA-11/D/BuNo Position=-5.55,1.175 Scale=2.4 DecalMaxLOD=4 [Decal021] MeshName=Tail DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=RIGHT FilenameFormat=F-2H2/VFA-11/D/BuNo Position=-5.525,1.175 Scale=2.4 DecalMaxLOD=4 Transparent tail problem goes away!
