  1. In SF1, when the loadout menu appeared, I had that music with that old hangar Vietnam speakers effect (I think it was made for SF1/WOV) combined with sounds of jets pasing by and I liked it so much that I tried to export it to SF2 loadout screen as well. I looked into SF1 loadout.ini file and I saw the entries. The SF2 loadout.ini entries look almost the same. I created an entry in it and created whatever lines were needed (I copied the ones from SF1). I also put the needed sounds in sounds folder. I tried them in game , but they won't work. I tried a different approach to check if it is something wrong with creating a new entry in ini SF2 files for this kind of matter. I imitated the exact procedure for the hangar screen, and now, it worked. My question is why for hangar screen works and for loadout screen doesn't ? I checked and double checked the entries and the syntax, I don't know what I did wrong. Any ideas please ? Thank you
  2. I repeat, this is the hangar sound thread, I didn't delete anything, I just edited for typos here, I think you posted for the F-15A Bazhangar jpg thread, but I understood.
  3. No, I edited it because I read and find typos and sometime I add new ideas that I forgot to say them in the previous post, that's all. I hope it doesn't create confusing. This is the thread for hangar sounds. I think you are writing me for the hangar screen JPG or am I mistaken ?
  4. Nope. For HANGAR screen they work as they did in the old SF1. Here: [HangarScreen] MenuType=NORMAL_MENU UseSetBackground=TRUE //BackgroundImage=DefaultHangarScreen.JPG MenuItem001=SystemMenuHotspot MenuItem002=SummaryTextArea MenuItem003=SummaryTitle MenuItem004=DateText MenuItem005=BriefingsButton MenuItem006=LoadoutButton MenuItem007=PlanningMapButton MenuItem008=PilotRosterButton MenuItem009=FlyButton MenuItem010=CancelButton MenuItem011=HangarScreenTitle MenuItem012=HangarNoise <- I added this line MenuCodeDLL=HangarScreen.dll RememberMenu=TRUE DefaultSelection=-1 MouseAnimation=MouseAnimation BackgroundMusic= TextFilename=HangarScreen.str ............................................................. [HangarNoise] MenuItemType=AMBIENTNOISE StartTime=1.0 RepeatInterval=0.5 Randomness=4.0 BackgroundLoop=HangarRadio1.wav SoundName[001]=HangarNoise1.wav SoundName[002]=HangarNoise2.wav SoundName[003]=HangarNoise3.wav I copied at the bottom this section, directly from SF1 file and it works. There are all four sounds, the music and the three entries fro jets passing by, but the trick , for LOADOUT screen didn't work.
  5. ok, thanks, I'll try it right away to see if I can solve it.
  6. could you please try it to see if it works for you as custom hangar screen ? I upload both files, the bmp and the jpg one. https://files.fm/u/hf3bxww5 The bmp will work for sure (for me as I said, works), but if the jpg won't work for you either...I would know that it's not something I do wrong.
  7. yes it is, I never tampered with it (it is copied directly from the SF2 CAT): https://files.fm/u/pesqzpxn
  8. I did that, converting the bmp that worked into JPG, but it still doesn't appear. All I see is this: https://files.fm/u/3m6bagz7 As you can see, in 2560x1440 (the resolution I use) it looks weird
  9. I didn't touch the entry for the hangar screen from the F-15A Baz ini file initially. I just changed it to test the old F-15A Baz hangar bmp I tried from SF1 (which works) to see if it works but then I changed it back to JPG. HangarScreen=F-15A_BAZ_HANGAR.jpg -> HangarScreen=F-15A_BAZ_HANGAR.bmp -> HangarScreen=F-15A_BAZ_HANGAR.jpg I checked, it's the enry for JPG now and the syntax is correct. [AircraftData] AircraftFullName=F-15A Baz AircraftShortName=Baz AircraftDataFile=F-15A_Baz_data.ini LoadoutFile=F-15A_Baz_loadout.ini UserList=F-15A_Baz_UserList.ini CockpitDataFile=F-15A_cockpit.ini LoadoutImage=F-15A_Baz_loadout.TGA HangarScreen=F-15A_BAZ_HANGAR.jpg LoadingScreen=F-15A_Baz_Loading.JPG AvionicsDLL=Avionics70.dll AvionicsDataFilename=F-15A_Baz_avionics.ini
  10. I see, so if I make a simple JPG it should work. I did that and it doesn't appear. Could be the size ? Mine it's 1980x1080, the stock one, from the CAT, is 1024x768. If it is the size then why the old 1920x1080 bmp one works ? So it is not the size. I don't have a clue why it doesn't appear.
  11. well at least tell me what I did wrong... Maybe I can go further from there. You are not helping by slapping me and telling me nothing of what I asked.
  12. Can I use planes from SF1 into SF 2? Would they worked with SF2 cockpit attached ? If there is a limitation for porting SF1 planes to SF2 , what are the main points I might be needed to address ? Where should I place the aircraft if they work, I can't see any aircraft folder ? How about ground objects, where do they go, into which folder ? Where do I put a new map, I tried to put it in terrain folder but it doesn't appear in game, I can't select it? Thank you.
  13. ok, I'll see , maybe I will adapt, even if I don't like it the way it is. PS- and I ask other questions in the same thread because it scares me how many threads I should start to find out things and the second reason is because I think that people who will answer about a thing , would know too about the others. But I admit, if everyone would do that, it would be a chaos. I'll try to keep that in mind in the future.
  14. When I was using directly the plane's hangar bmp (which has alpha channel) from SF1 , for hangar screen for F-15 baz, it worked, it showed in the plane's hangar screen. I made jpg with alpha channel, but it doesn't work. The game loads its stock screen for F-15A Baz. SF2 doesn't accept jpg with alpha channel ?
  15. ok I'll sort things out and I'll think how to plan things that need solving.
  16. I don't think it's the typos, because it's about original ini files for screens. The only thing that could change is either the name of the jpg or the graphic format, but I payed attention to those two. Where I could be wrong is the PLACE where these files should be, maybe they won't follow the pattern from SF1 as arrangement and that is why they don't work. I am talking here about sounds from MENU folder, and not from the SOUND folder. In SF1 the menu sounds were not restricted as the ones from SOUND folder were, as quality . So I thought here it is the same.(sounds in SOUND folder, in SF1, needed to be 8bit mono, otherwise they wouldn't work). So following this logic, for SF2 menu I brought directly the menu sounds from SF1,and most of them work. I can hear for instance the main screen custom music I brought, but I can't hear my music in hangar screen or credits screen for instance.I noticed that in hangar.ini file the lines where in SF1 were written for sounds in hangar, are missing here. I added them but they won't work. Maybe some lines who would, theoretical, execute these ini lines are missing from the exe game file in SF2 (TK eliminated them, wishing to get rid of the sound in hangar) and that is why I don't hear sounds in hangar menu....but that is what I think, not what I...know. I also know for a long time that hangar and loading screens are JPGs in SF2, so this is the very first thing I changed when I mod a plane. And here I have an example: The custom loading screen I made for the F-15A Baz, works, but the hangar one won't appear, even if is JPG and it is declared in plane's ini file. Maybe it will help to see the custom files of someone in SF2 , for menus and the INIs he modified for that purpose.
  17. no, it's about SF2 ONLY what I am talking about. SF2 comes with its own created missions (that they are called into the menu of the game). There are 7 or 8 missions. About them I am taking about. I can't find them into the game, when I press the created mission button, though they are in the CAT (I can see them with the SF2 CAT extractor.) it is greyed and it says "no mission to load".
  18. Got a few more questions if you please: - I can't make those missions to appear in game menu. You said that they don't need to be put anywhere, so I deleted them, but still they won't appear and I don't understand what is wrong, I need some intel on that. - Do sounds for screens (menu, loading etc) etc need a certain quality ? I saw in some ini file something like 16bit 44010Hz. I also noticed that sounds in stock folder (the ones for screens) have 352kbps, mines (which went well in SF1 screens) have 1411Kbps. Is this the reason ? - Some custom menu I changed, from SF1 work well, some won't appear. I don't know why. - Custom JPG for Hangar won't appear, though the one for loading appears.
  19. Well I tried that, but after 12 years of modding everything I got in SF1 to LOVE the place, this new features blew off into my face with its ugliness. I hate the interface, I hate the 2cm letters in HUD, I hate the way clouds look in the stock game, I hate the barren stock tiles, I hate that I can't zoom the map to the maximum , to see things, I hate the stock menu interfaces, I hate the stock menus music etc etc etc so I need an urge to fix things as they were (the look of them and how they work) in SF1. But I must admit, there are good parts , too: I like the smoothness of the new shader effects, the clarity of textures, the 60 constant frame rate, faster loading times, the new wingmen A.I., the missiles effects, the afterburner feature (finally is for every plane) etc I am between happiness and agony LOL I just need a little help to put things how they were, that's all. So far this is what I managed to fix: - HUD fonts made them smaller, as they shoudl be -I fixed the A.I. formation (I have custom AI formation setting from SF1) -I fixed th tiles, replacing them all with high resolution ones, from SF1 - I replaced the clouds - I fixed the views with my custom ones - I fixed the 100% map zoom - I replaced part of the menus, some I can't make them appear (I'm working on it) - I replaced part of the menus sounds, I can't make them all appear so far (I'm working on it) - I deleted the missions from the new folder I created for them in : C:\Users\NAME\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Israel\Menu but they still won't show in game menu , it says "no missions available". They shoudl be there , but they aren't. Also I don't see where are the effects. I finally found the sounds.
  20. ok, thanks. I finished my sweep on the CATs. Where are the sounds ? I remember that in SF1 there were also no sounds in any CAT, but , at least, there was a folder in main one with sounds. EDIT 1 Found just the speech ones. By the way , I copied the sounds I had for the menu (from my SF1 menu folder) into C:\Users\NAME\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Israel\Menu but I can't hear them. Any idea please where they should be put to work? EDIT 2 I think I know why I can't hear them,. What parameter should they be ? 8 bit, 16 bit ? How many Kbps ? EDIT 3 I read into MIGBUSTER's KB thread about what is new in SF2. It says there that HELP command now works. I tried it in SF2 WOI and I get the same message like in SF1 ("no fighter available" even if there were 3 more allied flight not far from my position. I was engaging (me and 3 wingmen) 2 flights of 8 each, so 16 total). Also I can't acces the default created missions. I used the extractor , made a separate folder, named it missions and put them there. In game, in the menu the part is grey, saying there are no mission to load. I don't figure out what I did wrong.
  21. so, in other words I can still use the "common" trick by putting all decals I need (for the total of my aircraft) in a single created subfolder (in OBJECTS folder) and after that, writing the correct path in each aircraft decals.ini sections, as I did in SF1. Have I understand correctly ? Please confirm. What is the MENU2 folder I saw in your pic ? Or is it something for modded things ? Thank you for taking the time to explain.
  22. I found this: ….\StrikeFighters2\Flight …\ StrikeFighters2\Sounds …\ StrikeFighters2\Effects …\StrikeFighters2\ Objects\Decals …\StrikeFighters2\ Objects\Guns …\StrikeFighters2\ Objects\Pilots …\StrikeFighters2\ Objects\Weapons Still the decals questions stands. Please let me know how do they work please.Bumpmaps bitmaps go into aircraft folder ?
  23. yes I know that, but trouble is that I can't see them where they are in th "special" CAT (the new one). I can open it but bitmaps/jpgs , parts of the plane are "invisible". It's a difference of 30MB, the CAT has 167 and the rest of files I can extract have 136MB, so those three new models, their LODs and their parts must be the ones, but they are hidden, at least for the extractor I have.
  24. I know that 99% of you moved on to SF2, except me. Searching for something else I found out, from Gepard, that WOI has another update, except the well known one, from october 2008, the one which comes with the Suez Crysis add-on. He also let me know that there are real improvements in it. I bought it and went for a spin in a single player mission. Looking back , I always found the "old" engine (which contained the 2008 update) lacking in the A.I. wingmen department. It always came into my mind the situation when my wingmen, no matter how skilled or experienced was, after a few brave manoevres , he flew straight like there was no one chasing it and sooner or later was, stupidely, shot down by enemy chaser's gun. This time it was different, I switched immediately just to see what my wingman does (there was a recon mission, with just 2 planes). My plane was shot down quickly by a radar missiles, but what this wingman did was impressive. The enemy was a formation of 8 Mirage IIIEA, my wingman was a Gripen-39. The wingman not once flew straight, made tons of manoevres, and shot down 4 planes in the process (all with his missiles). The other 4 break formation when were bingo fuel I guess and left. So my question for you who, in the past for sure tried this update and felt it, is: was what I experienced an accident or is there real improvement for the AI wingmen ? Please let me know your thoughts.
