TGA is an image file, so something like photoshop, paintshop, etc should allow you to open and manipulate. -
F-18 corruption
tank03 replied to Brainless's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
In the FA-18 object folder you will find a cockpit folder. In the cockpit folder you will find an image file called F-18_Pitch. This is the tga file that needs to be adjusted. File path is OBJECTS>AIRCRAFT>FA-18>COCKPIT>F-18_Pitch. -
F-18 corruption

There is an article in the knowledge base that covers this problem here: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=22084 It appears the solution is pretty easy. -
Strike Fighters Gold
tank03 replied to Viggen's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I suspect because the premise of the game was that this foreign government bought US made aircraft for it's own air force. (kind of like the Israelis used A-4 w/o having a carrier) -

I have a DELL Dimension 3000. I plan on upgrading my computer memory from 512mb (2X256) to 1 gb and I'm wondering if I should buy DELL memory, or if the after market stuff I see at BestBuy is just as good. The DELL stuff is a bit pricier so if there really isn't much difference I'd opt for the aftermarket stuff. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I just installed the new memory (2 X 512mb). It took less than 5 minutes, and I'm AMAZED at how much faster my machine works!! Should have done this a long time ago. Thanks for the tips, they proved useful.

Re: Typhoids post Seems reasonable and believable. I'm quite sure that if there was ANYTHING the folks in uniform could have done, they would have, but there was simply no opportunity as everything was too late/inaccurate.

Which mission editor?
tank03 replied to Wolf65's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I had the same problem at first. You have to make sure that you have updated the installation. The download is for SFP1 level, you need to update it to SFP4. It's simple, just use the automatic update located in the dropdown menus at the top. I think it's TOOLS>OPTIONS>UPDate. Once selected it will update automatically. -

I whole-heartedly agree! -
Which mission editor?

I've been using Le Missioneur for years now without any incidents, so I suspect your graphics issue was a freak incident. -
Which mission editor?

As far as I know the only mission editors available are "KMD" and "Le Missioneur". They both do the same thing, but I find "Le Missioneur" a bit more user friendly and easier to learn how to use. It's available at the Check6 site (a little french is useful) but it operates in English. -
Oops, thought it was common knowledge.

It could say "no mecca, no mohammed" in arabic, but if it does that that is one HUGE coincidence, for the reasons you stated. Though, if it really did say that, you'd think that Coca Cola Corp would have made some changes in the script. No business wants to lose potential customers if a simple fix could prevent it.

I too believe there was a bomb in the WTC. It's called a commercial airliner filled with fuel. Makes a big bang. Lindsey may be nuts, but she's a lot saner than Britney. I love celebrities like that, they always make me fell better about myself.

I'm hesitant to get involved in this one, but..., if looked at from the rules of Logic (I mean with a capital "L", the study of argument, not just common sense) one has to make certain assumptions valid before a fault can be proved. A equals B equals C stuff. Thus, one can claim it as a mistake (the not fire-proofing) if they miscalculated the need. If they invested in a fire suppression system with the belief that such a system would negate the need for fire-proofing the structual supports, then they did in fact make a mistake. The mistake being the miscalculation. However, if they did forego the fire-proofing and didn't include an additional fire mitigation system to make up for the lack of fire proofing, then it's pretty difficult to simply call that an accident. In that case they clearly had knowledge and didn't act on it. No one expects to design a structure to survive everything thrown at it, but to forego one system and not replace it with another is just negligent. As much as I find conspiracy theorists entertaining, most of their arguments never really make much sense to me. They seem to connect the dots with the most unreasonable and illogical arguments. Except for Elvis. It's obvious that he's still alive and living on a chicken farm in Indiana. The feds did that to hide him from the aliens.

I agree! How can a parent ever expect a child to develop the self-management skills they need to negotiate this world if they don't give them the opportunity to live their own life? My brother sheltered his daughter WAY too much, and as a result she doesn't know how to do anything, she's always had mom or dad take care of all of her problems. If you don't give a kid a chance to make mistakes they will never learn.

It was ugly, but they got the job done! Welker is going to be the best offseason pickup this year!! The Lions completely spanked Denver! I mean 44-7?? This has got to be Shanahan's last season.

You want the terrain data.ini file extracted, if it hasn't been already. I'm assuming it's Verdun_Data.ini (I don't have FE so I'm not sure of the exact terrain name) The extracted file should show up in the terrain subfolder (i.e. First Eagles>Terrain>Verdun). Once extracted you should be able to open the Verdun terrain folder and see the Verdun_Data.ini. The file can be edited with Notebook (or any text software). The link given earlier outlines the whole procedure. If you have more than one installation of Third Wire games on your computer be sure that the extraction is going to the correct installation. -

"Somebody (Fubar or Sag???) created a mod of them that have SA-7s...so look around here for that one too" Recently forgot I added that mod. Let me tell ya, what a surprise to see that mundane looking freighter knocking me out of the sky!! -
Just saw a Pink Floyd cover band called Aussie Pink Floyd last night. The played a local arena (I've never known a cover band to play arenas before) and I was completely blown away. They were awesome! They had the whole laser/light show and they did the songs spot on. Played for three hours and did two encores (never known a cover band to do an encore either). I've seen the original, and I was just as entertained with this band as I was with the real deal. If you get a chance to catch their show it's well worth it!

"So step back take a deep breath and let the modders do their thing in peace." Well put. I think sometimes people don't even realize that their enthusiasm, while well intentioned, is sometimes really not appropriate (or even respectful). Thanks for the reminder. -
Not that this answers your question but, I have to agree that if he's going to college he's a bit too old to be babysat on the computer. Besides, isn't that what the internet is for, movie tickets and porn? Anyway, I know someone who uses something called Mindnet (I think that's it's name) and they seem to like it so far.

Thanks for the input. I used the DELL memory tool to ID exactly what I needed and I'm going to take that to the store so I can be sure I get the right thing. Thanks again for the help.
