  1. No real solutions yet. I've been flying the FB-111 on low level missions in WOE. What I've been doing is setting the Initial Point (usually waypoint 4 on Single Missions) a bit further out from the target. This way I take off, then ALT-N to the Initial Point. Having the Inital Point farther from the target (30 miles vs. 10 miles) gives me time to drop down to a low altitude and make a run into the target. It's not ideal, but I do get the low level attack I wanted without having to fly the whole route manually.
  2. Any home brewers out there?

I've been home brewing beer for many years now, but I just did my first mead. Can't wait to see how it tuns out. Anyone else have any good recipes/stories they'd like to share?
  3. Any home brewers out there?

The great thing about homebrewing is the consumption DURING production. The best of both worlds.
  4. Any home brewers out there?

Yeah, I've moved from bottles to growlers. It's so much work to bottle individual bottles, when you just know that you are never going to open just one. The move to 1/2 gallon growlers has made things much easier and less time involved.
  5. Any home brewers out there?

Nobody brews their own???? You guys are missing out on one of life greatest pleasures.
  6. Using the Weapon Editor one of the AIM-9 options is "Seeker Uncage" so it would seem a possibility.
  7. You can change the ripple interval, I think the default key is "[". You can aslo change the ripple quantity ("]"). Each a/c has it's own ripple intervals/quantities i.e. some have 3 or 4 options, some have 6 or 8). you can change the available interval options by doing some cockpit.ini editing. Additionally, you could edit the bomblet dispersal area and number of bomblets using the weapon editor. Though it's be unrealistic, you could drop a CBU with 5000 bomblets and a dispersal area of 2sqKm, but that would be absurd (it is... I've tried it.)
  8. Once, when I was just playing around with weapon data to see how things worked, I set an AIM-9 to be perfect. 100% lock-on, 30G manuvering, 360 aspect, etc. When I tried using it in game I shot down my whole flight because the missile would swing around and strike the A/C in my formation. I quiclky went back to the original settings; it was better to miss the enemy than hit a friendly.
  9. I'm assuming you are refering to an add-on skin. Each skin should come with a README that outlines how it is installed. Basically you put the skin folder into the A/C folder. You then edit the aircraft ini (NOT the data ini) and add the new skin to the list of existing texture sets. If you want the new skin to be the default skin that the game chooses, then that skin should be texture set 1. Once the skin is successfully added (and if you didn't make it the default skin) it cna be chosen in the Loadout menu from the list of possible paint schemes. In the Loadout menu, each aircraft can be individually tailored for paint, weapon load etc.
  10. If you added the skin correctly, you should be able to select it from the drop down menu for each a/c in the Loadout screen. If you want the skin to be the default skin, I think you need to set it as the #1 texture in the file.
  11. I'm playing around with making various types of "super" bombs and I wondered what weapon type a GPS or Inertial guided bomb would be. It seems the only bomb types are; BOMB, LGB, and EOGB. There are various types of guided rockets and missles but none of those options seem fit for bombs. GPS and inertial guidence are options in the weapon editor so I figured they must fit into one of the existing weapon types, but none seem right. Any answers/suggestions would be appreciated.
  12. I typically fly with both settings on Normal. Not enough challenge when set to Light, and my old, crap system bogs down too much with all the SAM/AAA activity when set to Hard.
  13. I've noticed that sometimes there is an obviously exaggerated recoil effect due to the guns when using the default f5 view; the aircraft appears to buck as if being shaken like a toy, though from other views the a/c is stable. I don't know what causes this, nor do I really care. I fly from the cockpit and the view is fine from there. Additionally, I've modified the default f5 view to be a check-6 view so it's really a non-issue at this point for me. If you are only experiencing the exaggerated recoil effect while in f5 view I would ignore the problem and keep flying.
  14. I'd go with WOV due to the history; carrier ops is a bonus. WOE would be my second choice.
  15. I don't know much about the expansion pack, but you could have a seperate install for a modified FE version and then an install for the expansion pack version. That way you don't have to worry about losing everything you've modified so far. Simply copy and paste and you have a seperate install. No matter what, I'd back up everythign before installing the EP if I were you. It'd be a shame to possibly lose all the hard work.
  16. Don't drink Alkohol!

Hey now, let's not blame dear, sweet alcohol. It's been a better friend to me than a lot of the people I know. Besides, people like that serve a purpose; they make us feel better about ourselves and give us something to laugh at.
  17. Since I've never flown a real jet (other than commercially)my only point of reference is the planes available in the Third Wire series. After careful consideration I keep coming back to the Thud, the F-105. I love the no frills cockpit before everything in the world went digital. Decent payload, good looks (now retro), and killer acceleration and speed. I know it's not the most manuverable plane, but I love pushing the throttle up and getting the hell out of Dodge. Plus, with all that's been written about it, I can appreciate the history that goes along with the a/c. Time and again, in both WOV and WOE I find myself flying a strike mission in the Thud. Easily my favorite aircraft.
  18. Cluster bombs can be delivered the same way as conventional bombs; dive bombing, level delivery, pop-up delivery. Just be sure you have the right bomb for the job (i.e. anti-armour, anti-personnel, mixed, etc). Each cluster bomb has a set number of bomblets and dispersal area (which can be edited using the weapons editor)so accuracy is still important. Check out this article which outlines several bombing techniques in WOV/WOE/SF that have proven very effective. It covers level bombing, pop-up, dive, and strafe. http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_055a.html
  19. The color code system is a simple primary color system based on red, green, and blue. Somewhere on the internet is a converter that allows you to input colors/values and get a useable result. You could also check the weaponsdata.ini to see what the color codes are for the stock colored rckts. The F-18 view is what it is. I suppose you could do some ini editing and assign a new view command that allows you to sit up higher in the seat, but the standard foward view is...well...standard. You could always toggle off the cockpit animation in order to get a complete view. AFAIK, in order to play multiplayer you must be using the same install. Somewhere on CA I think there is a tutrial about multiplay, you may want to check this knowledge base article: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=8452
  20. If you have WOV then you should install the 5/15/06 service pack and then the 8/30/06 patch. Be sure to back up whatever add-ons/changes you've made because the patching will erase any mods. The patches are at this link: http://www.thirdwire.com/downloads_wov.htm I have no idea how to edit the exhaust for the F-104.
  21. I Passed......

Hearty congrats on a job well done!
  22. It certainly would have saved some frustration.
  23. Yes, you need to install the latest patches. Back up your existing install though because the patch will overwrite a number of files and you'd lose any mods you've installed/edited. The Knowledge Base has an article on how to efficiently patch, and the download section has all the Third Wire patches/ service packs. Once you are fully patched you will have access to the HUD cycle feature.
  24. Options>Control>Customize Under Customize, the first set of controls is Game Commands. The last entry in this set (HUD Information Toggle) is the the HUD cycle key.
