New skin Start, End Years.
ianh755 replied to SidDogg's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Hi there, I've tried the DefaultStartDate= that Fubar suggested but I must be doing something wrong as I can still select my skin out-side of these dates. I've also tried using just the year instead of the month/day too with no difference and also adding it to the A/C.ini textureset callout. Has any got any idea what I'm doing wrong? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A/C textureset.ini [TextureSet] DefaultStartDate=01/01/1985 DefaultEndDate=01/01/1990 Name=JaBoG 34 - 83A scheme Nation=Germany Squadron=JaBoG 34 Specular=0.300000 Glossiness=0.050000 Reflection=0.000000 DecalNumberRandomize=TRUE DecalNumberBlockSize=16 DecalNumberStart=0 DecalNumberEnd=16 A/C.ini texture set call out [TextureSet001] Directory=83a Name=JaBoG 34 - 83A scheme Nation=Germany Squadron=JaBoG 34 Specular=0.300000 Glossiness=0.050000 Reflection=0.000000 DecalNumberRandomize=TRUE DecalNumberBlockSize=16 DecalNumberStart=0 DecalNumberEnd=16 [TextureSet002] Directory=87d Name=JaBoG 33 - 87D scheme Nation=Germany Squadron=JaBoG 33 Specular=0.300000 Glossiness=0.050000 Reflection=0.000000 DecalNumberRandomize=TRUE DecalNumberBlockSize=16 DecalNumberStart=0 DecalNumberEnd=16 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Many Thanks.............................................IanH -

I think the Italian IDS/ECR is just about ready so I've made a start on the Luftwaffe ECR/IDS & Marine IDS. 1st thing was to redo the skin on the IRIS-T and make a new Taurus (old Apache model reskinned) then start on adding the new bits to the A/C skin. Did a quick test mission and ended up flying in formation with my Taurus for a few 100 yards -

Wounded - After my Storm Shadow sortie against a bunker in Tripoli I dropped down low for a quick strafe of a fuel depot and took some 57mm hits. I had control issues meaning I couldn't make it back to Gioia so I ejected over the Med. ***EDIT*** Got a Guns kill on a Mig-21 after a 5min dogfight - I swear I heard the Top Gun theme when he blew! -
Hi there, I was wondering if anyone else was getting this problem and if they are could they try this fix? I was doing a low-level SEAD mission and came across a SA-10 Battery with FlapLid which I shot at with my HARM. However it flew over the top of the FlapLid, as did the 2nd HARM. I replayed the mission several times with the same outcome so I dug deeper and found that the FlapLid_data.ini has the height of the radar set to 8m but the truck only 2m high so when the HARM flew through the radar at 8m there was nothing for it to hit. The problem isn't so bad when firing HARMS etc at high altitudes as the HARM dives down on the radar so is more likely to get close enough to hit the truck. I changed the Radar height to 3m and the Truck with the Dish upright to 4m (more realistic height looking at pics for the FlapLid) and everything works as it should. Here's the data.ini for you to try if you're getting the same issue. Alternate Kill Decals

You haven't "cut-through" the Alpha Channel layer. When you add the Alpha Channel you need to paste the decal into the Alpha layer, then delete (use eraser) over the decal. This cuts-through the Alpha Channel to show the decla below. Here's a quick 7Mb AVI of me doing a decal for you to watch. It may not be the best way but only takes about 90 secs per decal. http://www.ianhenshall.com/sf2/decal.avi ***EDIT*** - If your Stars are on different layers for my way to work all the stars must be grouped into a Smart Object so that there is only 2 layers - The background and your complete decal. -
Can SF2 .DDS Textures be converted to SF1 .BMP?

ianh755 replied to Geary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Hmm, thats strange, all I did was rename the 2 skin from DDS to BMP??? - Here's a free Hex Editor - http://www.handshake.de/user/chmaas/delphi/download/xvi32.zip - Although when 1st used it looks terrifying it's very easy to use. The skin names are usually right at the bottom (but not always) on the Right side of the screen for 99% of models. Are you using this Alpha Jet - http://combatace.com/files/file/11825-sf2-dornier-alphajet-a/ as that is what I used for the new LOD? -

The BMP skins will only show up if you alter the LOD file too, not just the OUT file - Here you go, LOD changed to BMP's - http://ianhenshall.com/sf2/AlphaJet-A.7z -

Removing Fuel Tanks from A/C Model?
ianh755 replied to ianh755's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Cheers Svetlin - This is just my luck but I'd already tried Florians IDS and while the fins are perfect the front half of the tank is very wrong. If I could have the back half of Florians and the front half of the Sf1 tank I'd be a happy man! For the time being I'll just stick with the Sf1 tank I think. Thanks for the help anyway! -
Removing Fuel Tanks from A/C Model?
ianh755 replied to ianh755's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
The only thing wrong about the current Tornado 1500 tank model (ported from SF1 I think) is that it has the fins angled down way too much (about 60 degrees below the horizontal) whereas the angle on the real tanks is much shallower (about 25 degrees below). The rest is just skinning stuff. -

Nation Specific Loadouts?
ianh755 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Hi there, if an aircraft can be flown by 2 or more nations can the loadout be altered to give nation specific versions (like how the year specific entry works) i.e RAF_Strike and USAF_Strike etc? The A/C has both nations on the Pylon data so each nations weapons will show-up using the In-Game loadout. Cheers...................................IanH -
Hi there, I had a quick look but couldn't see anything about this. I'm trying to create an Anniversary decal which would only show up when 1 specific year is selected. I've already got the decal working normally and so it's just the method of making it appear for 1 year only that's got me stumped! I've tried adding a start/end date (see below - name edited out) but I'm getting nowhere - Any help would be appreciated! [Decal008] StartYear=2006 EndYear=2006 MeshName=Tail DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=LEFT FilenameFormat=Tornado_GR/GR4/XXXXX/XXXXXX Position=-5.20,2.10 Scale=1.25 DecalMaxLOD=3

READ ME ---------- This'll be my last update for the Tornado Pack V3.0 by Dave and Sundowner available here - url]http://combatace.com/files/file/12320-tornado-gr1gr4-for-sf2/[/url] as I can't think of anything else I can change/fix. This bulk of this update is the missing GR4 decal folder which has now been added to the mod. Each Sqn now has it's own individual A/C numbers & year dependant Fleet codes (GR4_98 is 2 letters, GR4_06 is 3 numbers) and I've included 2 special "Anniversary" decals for 12Sqn and 617Sqn. These are placed on 1 Aircraft from each Sqn only. The 617sqn 60th Anniversary Decals can be found on ZA370 in the GR4_98 only. The 12Sqn 90th Anniversary Decals can be found on ZD650 in the GR4_06 only. I've also changed both the 12Sqn and 617Sqn GR4_06 skins (12Sqn had GR1 nose marking and 617Sqn has a different tail tip marking). One point to note is that 617Sqn are the only Sqn in the RAF to retain there WW2 style "Fleet Codes" which is why theirs look different to all the others. I've also tweaked the mirrors for all the GR1 variants as the "nose" wasn't showing allowing you to see through the model into the undercarriage etc. One issue I found with that is that the image in the mirrors is set as though the cockpit is actually higher than it it is (like the mirrors are about 2ft above the cockpit). I'll be having a play to see whether it's fixable without breaking the current cockpit view but I consider it a minor issue. Lastly I've changed the Storm Shadow jet exhaust effect from 2d to 3d for a better look (Thanks Fubar512 for the help) Installation ------------------ Unzip then simply copy and paste into your Mod folder (usually C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 etc) and allow it to over-write. Tested on a Nov '11 patched Full Merged and SF2:Europe Only. Thanks --------- I've never done any Decals before so the folks here who helped out in the many "Help" threads I started really made this possible - DTMDragon, Spinners & Wrench -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
