  1. With most IR AAM's I've noticed that even though they track and appear to hit they about 1/3 of the time they do no damage if hitting the front of an enemy A/C where as rear shots work 100% of the time when they hit.

  4. The 1st Sim I ever remember was around the late 80's and called F-16 Falcon on the Spectrum 128 +2 with it's multi-load tape! I ditched sims until my dad bought a 486 and we got TFX. After I joined up and left home I again ditched PC's altogether until playing F-22 ADF on a mates PC sparked my interest back. Then came the best sim I've ever flown (and I've logged 1000's of hours in it) - F-22 Total Air War (best campaigns ever!). Then in the early 2000's came the dry years as everyone stopped making sims! I think the authenticity put most regular people off and the companies couldn't sustain themselves on the hardcore users only. I still kept buying whatever came out (B-17, Combat Flight Sim, Falcon 4.0, even the F22/F16/Mig29 pack etc) but nothing really captured my interest for long. It was about 2007 when I finally tried SF1 WOE and while I enjoyed it I thought something was lacking and it was put back on the shelf. After a few years I got bored and re-installed it and searched the web for patches which brought me here. I found the ODS install and thought "it's free, it's got Tornados in so I'll give ago" and it was like playing a whole new game (the clouds, the effects, the new planes/weapons - WOW ). That started a trawl of the other SF1 games and as many mods as I could install and each stock game was usually improved tenfold by the work done by the guys on here. I only made the jump to SF2 when a new computer meant Win7 (DX10) and it's amazing that the little changes can add up to so much extra. Yet again the mod community has taken a stock game where the A/C look amazing but the rest is lacking and turned everything upto 11. I've still got a SF1-ODS install as there's no ODS yet for SF2 and going between SF1/SF2 graphics shows the newer game really does look so much better. Next I suppose will be SF2-NA and we'll what happens after that!

My Merged install is 25GB and I've used both a 120GB OCZ Vertex 3 SSD and a standard 7200rpm HDD (to save space on the SSD) and in-game there's no real FPS benefit (although I use a GTX580 so it's not really struggling anyway). However the load times for the initial game bootup and then Flight loadscreen are reduced by about 1/2 to 2/3 on the SSD.

    Vegas 10, Out of the box - No it's a nightmare as nothing is explained HOWEVER youtube has loads of tutorials which are great and helped me loads!
  9. The German MW-1 Pod shouldn't be used for airfield denial at 60ft or less - On the plus side the Ejection Seats worked well!
  10. Stary - Daylight is for Girls! The Tornado is my favourite Low Level A/C to fly as it's so stable in-game that hand flying at 60ft @ 550kts is a doddle, although you don't want to see the results of the attempts I tried Inverted..............didn't end well

    Sony Vegas 10 user here, upgrading to 11 as it handles 1080p better. It's a bit basic but the only thing it lacks is 'special effects' I suppose the word is.
  12. Wow I like it, the APKWS & CGR Hellfire just makes it too easy! It feels less 'twitchy' in yaw which is great but it still has a tendency to pitch nose down and when using single Stinger it shows the missile but no launch tube however the missile is on a rail so that could be correct (like the Aim-9)?
  13. Will it be the customary "2 Weeks" then Thanks for having a look, I think it's pretty much the worst weapons model in the McGunnys pack and the wait will be worth it. As to pictures, I've only got RAF Practice/Concrete PW3 which has different markings (and our's is the GBU27 penetrator version).
  14. The EF-2000 is probably a bad A/C to test this with as the FM allows it to hit 30g! I altered the StructuralFactor= to 2.5 and then 5.5 but it still blew up. Then I reset the StructuralFactor= back to 1.5 and altered just the MaxG= to 19g and thats cured it so far buts it's extremely unrealistic! I'll have a play with the FM to try and get it hard limited to 12g max (like the MachNo can be) rather than 30g!
  15. Caesar - Over-G'ing the players A/C isn't the issue, you just watch your stick inputs like you said. I usually fly in Normal, I tried Easy above to see if it affected that Mode too. However all the AI flying certain jets are now destroying themselves as they CAN'T watch their inputs and are wiping whole Sqns's out with something that they can't control, I've even lost B-1B wingman to Over-G somehow!

This is getting silly now, just did a 10ship Intercept using EF-2000 and lost 5 fighters in 2 seconds due to AI Over-G (a/c is very susceptible to Over-G) when I gave the command to Engage Air and they all turned to engage and a further 2 later on for Over-G. I flew in Easy mode (no Over-G possible) and flew until I hit the Mach 2.06 limit for 5 mins with no problems (so it's not afterburner related). Rather than editing every A/C which can Over-G easily is there anyway to alter what happens with "Normal" flight characteristics selected?
  17. If the Mig is Syrian it could be either ENEMYNATIONS doesn't include Syria in the Campaign or you could alter the Mig-29's USERLIST to include Lebanon.
  18. It looks like something thats been "activated" during the Oct '11 patch as I didn't have any of these issues before so I'm guessing that TK has added the Over-G damage to Normal flight difficulty level too instead of just Hard like it was previously (AI uses Normal).
  19. There's a very Unconfirmed statement that the parachute failed to open after his ground ejection. The rest of the ejection sequence worked fine but it looks like the drogue chute didn't drag the main chute out. I work around MK10 seats all day and I've never seen this sort of incident before so it's a huge shock. The press may mention that Hawks were grounded in 2010 for Ejection seat issues but they were unrelated to todays accident.   20. Small world - Turns out I know the CPL Line walker who was yards away when it happened (both worked 15SQN). Both him and the Liney next to him got blown off their feet by the rocket pack going off. It was a 5 ship with new members (Red 1-4) going up with the experienced Red 5 when during the see-off the seat went off.
  21. I've noticed that since Oct '11 patch there's 2 random things that can happen. First is that the Over-G effect now completely destroys your plane even on Normal or easy Flight settings which it didn't do before (you/AI have to be really careful in an F/A-18E/F or EF2000 but I've blown up in a B52!). Secondly weapons seem to randomly (1/5th of the time) explode while still attached to the pylons. My guess is that either one of those is causing your issues.
  22. Wrench - I had the same issues using WinRAR but using the link for 7z provided by Stary has worked for me (although I still prefer WinRAR's inclusion into the right click menu which 7z doesn't have)
  23. My A-10 uses the stock Vulcan sound according to the data.ini, if you've got a specific GAU-8 sound file then change the GAU-8's data.ini to point to the sound file.   24. Well this ones strange, it seems my bomb loads are exploding at random times???? Just flown about a dozen missions and on 1/2 at some point my stores (while still attached) exploded for no reason. Tried different stock/addon weapons with the same effect, flying along happily then BOOM, Game Over!
