  1. Coming to a Bunker near you................................ Gulf War '91 Testing - (Stock Germany terrain)
  2. Hi all, as my last, final adjustment I'm trying to make Brimstone missile more realistic in-game. Currently they're GPS guided which is poop for moving targets (what they were designed for) so I've made 2 new types, a radar guided CGR and a laser guided LGR which both work well in-game but I can't find a way of getting more than 1 per station and they won't use either TLR or TER weapons racks. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? If it's not possible to rack LGR/CGR then I've make a IIR version pretends to be the Laser version (already trialled and works) but the large IIR screen it brings up ruins the GPS/Radar version so I'd prefer not to do that if possible. Cheers!......................................................IanH.
  3. Cheers Guys, I was just trying through the Loadout screen in-game after editing the weapon-data.ini's. Dels - Cheers for the ATR idea, now I'm just having issues changing the TLR Brimstone3pack into an ATR. I guess it's not as simple as changing it to WeaponsRackType=ATR in the data.ini as that isn't doing anything. **********EDIT************ I guess it is that simple, only I forgot to change the LGR Brimstones to Laser Guided (left them at CGR!) All sorted now, running 3 Laser Brimstones on the 3PAck just like real life, I'll probably go with IIR for the "MMW Radar" version although I'll try a few others too and see what I get!
  4. **********EDIT************ It's been a long day and I'm very tired and making lots of small mistakes (spelling, etc) which is why nothing worked properly. Time for bed!
  5. Cheers, found about 10 mistakes myself in it (spelling, incorrect TypeName etc) so I've edited the top post. Off to Bed!
  6. Had a play with the fantastic Tornado GR4 model by Dave/Sundowner and made an Modern Afghanistan/Libya Loadout - It's a 10 pic GIF with all the different versions changing every 4 sec's - If only finding this Wingman Loadout Hang was as easy!
  7. Damn, Maybe it's only 50% cured! After every flight you have to exit the program and start it up again.
  8. Dave - ****EDIT*** THIS HAS 90% FIXED THE ISSUE*** I thought I'd cured the "Hang on Wingman" error but only about 90% of the way. There's 2 solutions both of which will allow you alter your wingmans Loadout ***HOWEVER*** if you come out of the loadout page and go back in it'll hang as before. So it works normally if you add your pilots to the roster 1st then go into Loadout just once to alter all their weapons. 1. In DATA.ini change the IRM/ARM StationGroupID to 7 (which matches the ECM pods) or...... 2. Change just the ARM StationGroupID to 8 (to match the IRM). As the game doesn't visualise Group 7 or 8 you can have as many stations in that group (usually the ones that are permanently set in the Loadout.INI) but if you add 9 or higher it locks up the game. I'm running Sept '11 patch on both a modded and stock install and it virtually cures the Hang in both versions. I'm running 2x ECM pods, 2x AIM9, 2X ALARM & 2x Fuel Tanks all on groupID 7 with no issues (all the stuff they never fly without in combat and therefore is permanently fitted in the Loadout) I'm also doing a data/loadout.ini for the GR4 to bring it upto modern standards (PW4, Brimstone, StormShadow Cruise Missile, Raptor Pod & ASRAAM etc) if you want a copy to have a play with.
  9. SA-6 Visual Inspection carried out Sir......................................
  10. The Russian bombers in-game are over armoured so a historically accurate warhead size won't do as much damage as it should..
  11. Hi all, when I'm not on these forums I'm the cameraman/telemetry dude/tea-boy & chief tool fetcher for the Fox Rally Team, a new Team comprising of current and former RAF personnel based at RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland. We've just completed our first ever Rally and I've done a little write-up with some videos (watch in Full Screen for 720p). We also have a website which is currently being worked on www.foxrallyteam.co.uk and a Youtube channel featuring all out videos so far. I'll update this thread as we go through the season. Crail 2th July 2011 This was to be Fox Rally Teams 1st competition rally. After spending years as a co-driver for various successful teams Phil Coulby, a Junior Technician at 12 Squadron RAF Lossiemouth, swapped seats to be a Driver in his own team for the 1st time, piloting an ex-works Skoda Felica. Co-driving duties fell to 1st timer Audrey Smith who had to overcome not only her fear of being a nervous passenger but also her nerves at being an untested Navigator with barely a few months practice behind her. Leaving doubts behind them the 1st and 2nd Stages passed quickly as both Phil and Audrey settled into the groove surprisingly quickly and, apart from a slight mishap with a tyre wall, everything was going better than expected. However on both the 3rd and 4th Stages punctures from Crails unforgiving airfield surface and a slipping clutch looked like spoiling what was turning out to be a fantastic drive from the new team. After a series of quick repairs by team mechanics Graham Taylor and Chris Tabbener Stages 5 and 6 were finished without further incident much to the relief of Phil and Audrey. When the Stage totals were finalised the team anxiously gathered with the other Teams swapping tales from the day. Out of a field of 55 starters the team not only finished 39th overall but amazed themselves with a 3rd place in Class which netted them their first Trophy. The Team would like to thank everyone who has helped make the Teams success a reality and hope that this continues on their next rally at Otterburn on the 29th July. 12. Otterburn 29th July 2011 We went to Otterburn on the 29th July facing only 3 other cars in our class so we had hoped that as long as we finished we'd get some points. Now Otterburn is a very tough event on cars, of the 87 that started less than 50 managed to cross the finish line intact and sadly we weren't one of those. Basil (the car) had been "acting funny" the day before during scrutineering (randomly cutting out, lack of power etc) and seconds after pulling away from the 1st time control (not even getting to the start of Stage 1 200m further on) the engine quit and couldn't be restarted. After a very quick strip and rebuild of the virtually the entire engine including the fuel system, intake manifold and coil packs we couldn't cure the fault and had to pull out which was a huge disappointment for the team, especially when we discovered that only one managed to finish in our class. On getting back we knew the Air side was good which left Coilpacks/ECU and Fuel and after a chat with the previous owner we decided to check that the fuel pump wasn't sucking the tank liner which had happened before. On taking out the fuel pump it was immediately obvious that the pump had popped an internal seal as 75% of the fuel it should have been pumping was jetting out the top. Once that was replaced and the shakedown run's finished we discovered that the fuel pump in Basil must have been failing for awhile as Basil now seemed to be faster (confirmed with GPS figures) which was a pleasant surprise for a by now, very tired team. Basil will be back rallying on the 11th September when we go back to Otterburn where we hope to at least start the damn rally this time! If you're interested in becoming a Team Sponsor please E-Mail Phil Coulby on phil_coulby@hotmail.co.uk Thanks for Watching and remember "Wear the Fox Hat!" Otterburn 11th September 2011 After the disappointment of a DNF at their last visit to Otterburn the Fox Rally Team were determined to prove that their 3rd in Class finish at Crail wasn't a fluke. With Basil now back together after some fantastic work by Mechanic Graham Taylor, their hopes were high for a good finish at the Pirtek Lindisfarne Rally. While Graham and new Team Mechanic Stacey Reid setup the service area Driver Phil Coulby and Co-Driver Audrey Smith went over the pace notes one more time allowing Audrey, who'd never used pace notes before, one last chance to correct any misunderstandings. With the tension mounting Fox rally team shot out of the gates onto Stage 1 and straight into trouble as a slipping clutch threatened to make the teams Otterburn DNF jinx a reality. After some quick roadside fixing from Phil brought the clutch back to life, the next 3 Stages passed in a white, green and newly pink blur until an engine fault left the team running on only 3 cylinders halfway through Stage 4. Phil managed to nurse a badly backfiring Basil back to the Service Area for a 15 minute stop allowing mechanics Graham and Stacey to swap both the spark plugs and coil-pack but, despite their best efforts the fault couldn't be located in time for the start of Stage 5. Rather than quit the rally the Team were determined that this time they'd finish no matter what. With the car only running on 3 cylinders from Stages 5 to 8 the Team dropped to last place in their class but they still grimly hung in until the Lunch break after Stage 8. This 45 minute break allowed Graham and Stacey to strip the head down and discover that the exhaust valve on the No1 cylinder had lost it's securing nut and had stuck shut. With a new nut in place Basil was back to firing on all 4 again raising the moral of the whole team. Now Basil was back to his best the Team were ready to start fighting their way back up the leaderboard from last place. With both Phils driving and Audreys skills peaking at the right time they smashed their way through Stages 9 to 11 with some brilliant driving and posting some impressive Stage times. After crossing the finish line at the end of Stage 11 the team had a short but nervous wait while the results were finalised. They needn't have worried though as despite all the mechanical problems their pace through last 3 stages stages and the mis-fortune of other teams had seen them leap from 5th place to finish 3rd in class earning them yet another trophy and proving the result from their 1st rally hadn't been a fluke. The Team would like to thank everyone who has helped make the Teams success a reality and hope that this continues on their next rally at Otterburn on the 23rd October. 13. 9-11 What did you do in the moments of the attack?

I'm an Avionics engineer in the RAF and I was fixing an ESM fault on one of our E-3D AWAC's out on the pan at Waddington when it happened so I didn't realise what had happened until I walked into our tea-bar just minutes after the 1st tower had collapsed and seconds before the 2nd one. Within 1hr we had prep'd the airfield to accept some of the civilian air traffic that had been turned away from US airspace (turned out that the big UK airports were able to cope without us). Within 2hrs we had sent messages to the other AWAC's crews Staged in Thumrait, Oman on exercise Saif Sareea II which was also a huge pre-prepared US airbase (shuttle diversion etc) as the bosses had already guessed we were going to be in a shooting war shortly. Within a month we'd sent every available AWAC's we had and were doing Op Veritas. As 9/11's legacy toward myself, since 9/11 I've been on Op's in Afghanistan until Mar 2003 when I lleft there and flew straight to PSAB in Saudi for Gulf War II. I left AWAC's in 2005 after another Iraq tour and then joined 28SQN (the Merlin helicopter) where we deployed back to Iraq from 2005 to 2009 as a CASEVAC and then in 2010 I left them to join 617SQN (Tornado's) and have just got back a month ago from yet another tour in Afghanistan. In 10 years I've racked up over 1200 days away on Ops and they've been the best and worst times of my life so far.
  14. The only minor issue is that they stay pinned even if you change the filter to Title so say I''m after an AV-8A and select filtering by Title A-Z I still have to go through to page 8 before I get to the AV-8A as the Pinned ones appear 1st (in Title order). Thats not a big deal for 90% of us on here but new users may find it hard to understand.
  15. Someone has a Idea what that is?

Thats definately a Nimrod (MR2 would be my guess, the R1 is only just out of service a month ago and were all painted grey)
  16. Dave - The RAF does things completely differently to the US which is always confusing when we cross-train. On Fast Jets we don't have Crew Chiefs but we do on the Big jets (AWAC's/Transport etc). Generally we have 3 trades, Heavies (engines & airframes), Lights (avionics & electrical) & Weapons. I'm a CPL with 16 years experience as an Avionics engineer (which means I fix anything that uses electrics/electronics from Radar & Radios to Weapons & AC/DC Power Generation and everything inbetween) but my rank of CPL (your E4) is actually the technical equivalent of an E6 and a Pay equivalent of an E8 (hence the confusion) although due to the lack of specialisation (the trades used to be split up into smaller specialities) we can find ourselves to be the "jack of all trades, master of none" at times.
  17. Sundowner - Just to really annoy you (sorry) the desert Tornado you've done has the ECM pod and Flare pod on the wrong sides. The BOZ pod is only wired for the right pylon and the Sky Shadow only the left although in the UK we can fit (as ballast) a BOZ to the left side if there's no ECM pods available. For GR4's in Afghanistan we fit an AIRCM pod inplace of the ECM (looks a bit like a BOZ pod but it's for MANPAD defence).
  18. Red Arrow down

He didn't get out RIP Iinitial reports from eye-witnesses 100m from the impact site on the river bank say it looked like in was heading for them until the last second when it swerved away so it looks like he stayed in to avoid the onlookers. He also managed to transmit a MayDay before the crash which was acknowledged by the Tower so the crash team will have a very good idea of what happened already.
  19. SU-35 Super Flanker over the Iberian Peninsula
  20. B52 Starto - The E3D's YellowGate ESM is mounted on the wingtips for 360' coverage (borrowed & simplified from the Nimrod MR2). I fixed the ESM and Computer System on them for 5 years 2000-2005, great A/C to work and some great memories! Veltro 2K - I know it's a WIP but do you know that the tail number is the wrong way around on the E3D, they were 01 to 07 - Here's a good pic of the back 1/2 of one
  21. RAF over Libya news Video

You may see them with PGM's but they still need a Tornado flying with them to Buddy Spike until they sort out the problems with LD pods.
  22. It's a great Idea but hasn't it been tried before and resulted in lots of broken links? Would it be taken offline for say a weekend or even a week to be rebuilt or would it be kept online while being updated as the offline method could cause less issues as a guess?
  23. Dambusters Digger

It's still used by 617 SQN as their callsign for the 2 squadron radio channels.
  24. CSAR Video

I've worked with the Pedro crews whilst at Camp Bastion when I was an engineer on UK MERT (UK's casevac using Chinook/Merlin) those guy's are a little crazy! They used to get hit a lot more than we did as they'd pile into a hot LZ with regard for themselves to make sure a casualty was picked up quickly.
