Wrench, I have copied and pasted the HFD and TLD files to my Isreal terrain, is there anything else I need to copy. Basically I want to fly missions from Cyprus against Syria, I realise Syrian MiGs cant reach Akrotiri which fine, the more accurate the better. At present my game seems to crash on the loading screen if I attempt to make Akrotiri my take off base??? -

hello mate, I was a Rookie to SF2 having only downloaded SF2 V/I/E from Thirdwire about 5 weeks ago. The best advice for you is the same as I got check this link, the guys on this site really know what they are talking about, but you need to learn the game first, and when you learn the game, its just a small tip of whats about to unfold if you enjoy what you have just dowloaded from Thridwire:- My linkhttp://combatace.com/topic/61517-introduction/page__p__463316__fromsearch__1?do=findComment&comment=463316 please read up, i did and I am really gratefull at the support I have got from some of the guys on this site, enjoy -

Impressions of a Pilot Flight is freedom in its purest form, To dance with the clouds which follow a storm; To roll and glide, to wheel and spin, To feel the joy that swells within; To leave the earth with its troubles and fly, And know the warmth of a clear spring sky; Then back to earth at the end of a day, Released from the tensions which melted away. Should my end come while I am in flight, Whether brightest day or darkest night; Spare me your pity and shrug off the pain, Secure in the knowledge that I'd do it again; For each of us is created to die, And within me I know, I was born to fly. by "Gary Claud Stokor" A nice collection of words i thought worth sharing

From his uniform I see he is Australian SAS, a special forces trooper and quite obviously a hero. The Australian SAS have been involved in many conflicts around the world and won a number of medals, including operations in Vietnam, Borneo, Iraq. The Australian SAS Regiment are one of the top elite special forces regiments of the world today. Congratulations Cpl Benjamin Roberts-Smith Thanks Slartibartfast for bringing this story to my atention.

RAF Akrotiri, Cyrpus
GunnySonics posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I noticed that in SF2 Isreal there is no air base in Cyprus although Cyprus is on the map. Historically RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus has played a pivotal role in the middle east since the 1950's till present day. I lived there from 1984-1987 and saw alot of air activity including the CIA U2 which was based there and would fly recon missions over Syria, Isreal, Egypt, Libya and so on, I also saw the F111's land to refuel after bombing Libya in 1986 (Operation El dorado). I think it would be great if a modder could place an air base on the island, it would make SF2 Isreal more historically accurate, as the Royal Air Force flew missions from here during the Suez Crisis, the Yom Kippur War, Gulf War 1 & 2 as did the US Air Force for the latter conflicts. Reference Sources RAF Akrotiri on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia....ki/RAF_Akrotiri Operation El Dorado http://en.wikipedia....ombing_of_Libya U2 Spyflights over Lebanon http://www.buzzbox.c...usterId=2597161 U2 Spyflights during Yom Kippur http://www.guardian....ndition-torture RAF Akrotiri CIA Factbook https://www.cia.gov/...ok/geos/ax.html U2 taking off from Akrotiri Canberra's Vulcans at Akrotiri I think you might agree that by placing an air base at Cyprus for SF2 Isreal opens up alot of possibilities for many more custom missions??? However I am no where near good enough to create this mod so hopefully some other talented map modding guru will take the idea on if theres enough intrest?? -

i dont know if it still is, i remember watching the lightnings and phantoms on the range from my school back in 85, impressive sight. I would not like to be the pilot flying the canberra towing the target with a bunch of Phantoms chasing him though, balls of steel for that job!! that sounds awesome pureblue, if you need a beta tester knock on my door i'd love to try it out -

SF2 a time machine?
GunnySonics posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Okay, like its not obvious that SF2 takes you back in time, but today I manged to take myself back to my childhood using the Libya Terrain released by Wrench:- Does anyone remember F19 Stealth Fighter by Microprose, for those that dont then read up on it via Google http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-19_Stealth_Fighter Basically F19 puts you in the Gulf of Sidra and other places but for this topic we will stay in the Gulf of Sidra, close to Libya and you have to fly stealth and recon missions over Libya in order to "rank up, win medals" etc, the source of all good flight sims. Anyway, with SF2 and the Libyan terrain and the F19 available on this site I was able to transform myself back to when I was 15 years old bombing Tripoli and Benghazi, with the SF2 Exp pack mission editor I can relive my whole period of missions flown on this great flightsim back in 1988, only with better graphics!!!!! Basically SF2 can take you just about anywhere we used to fly in older sims, as we all know because we are lucky enough to have such fantastic talented modders, simply they are the "Jedi's" amongst the flight sim development community. For those of us that have been simming for the last few decades it gives is the chance to fly the missions we flew years ago but on better systems and games and under much more improved graphics and AI. Thank you CombatAce and Thirdwire for letting me fly back in time -

i prefered photo recon missions over the North Cape rather than strike missions, i became quite an ace at recon missions, where as my strike missions would often end in failure:- Post Recon Mission Post Strike Missions -

in my 20 years of service I have found that the Russians are the hardest drinking sailors in the world, you do not want to end up in a bar with these guys if you need to be home the next day, they are crazy, a great laugh and they have my utmost respect but these guys could drink a shark under the table!!!!

Hi guys, im looking to improve my framerates, i just did a campaign mission over Hanoi and my framerates slowed down beyond belief, its not happened before but the amount of aircraft and SAMs flying about during Linebacker II almost froze my game, Ive been using Nhancer with recommended settings from a forum on this site but it hasnt helped and without Nhancer I have the same results. These are my computer specs (this pc is set up for SF2 and SF2 only, I run nothing else on this system AMD 4400 Dual Core Processor 4GB RAM 500GB Hard Drive (450GB Free) Windows XP Nvidia 8800GTS 250MB Graphics Card TrackIR5 Headset System I have a merged install with SF2 V/I/E, the only major mod i have is starkys Green Hell3, no other supermods etc installed. I mostly fly default aircraft 90% of the time. Any help greatly appreciated as I am a recent recruit to the SF2 series after 6 hardcore years of FS2004.
